5 - DAY PRANAYAMA INTENSIVE :: INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED :: JULY 12-16, 2022 6:00 - 6:45 AM EASTERN TIME (USA) TUESDAY to SATURDAY • Register link in Bio • I found this unusual and beautiful painting of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Bharata & Shatrughna graced by the powerful large presence of Hanuman. It immediately struck me with the realization that if Hanumanji, as the son of Vayu the Wind God, represents the Prana or Life Force, then of course the whole epic of the Ramayana is not going to happen without that moving force. Thus He appears as the central figure. And Sita has Her perfect place as the shakti in the center around which all the dance revolves. Lord Rama and His brothers encircle the energies – something like the dance of electrons around the protons and neutrons in the nucleus of an atom! It is a good idea to get in touch with and allow the Prana to energize and focus us from within the center. Pranayama practice gives us a methodology to manifest this reality in our daily lives. This 5-Day Pranayama Intensive is suitable for intermediate and advanced level practitioners and does require some familiarity with pranayama techniques as well as a well-balanced lifestyle. https://www.instagram.com/p/CeyoB1kLHLP/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Story of Yogi Bhusunda by Swami Sivananda. Bhusunda is one of the ‘Chiranjivis’ amongst the Yogins. He was the master of the science of Pranayama. It said that a big nest, like that of mountain, was built by him on the southern branch of the Kalpa Vriksha, situated at the northern summit of the ‘Mahameru’. In this nest, there lived the crow, Bhusunda, by name. This crow is said to be the longest lived Yogi. He was a ‘Trikala Jnani’. He could cognise all the three periods of time. He could sit in Yoga (Samadhi) for any length of time. He was desireless. He had obtained supreme Santi and Jnana. He was there, enjoying the bliss of his own Self and he is there still, being a Chiranjivi. He was for a long time engaged in the worship of Brahmasakti ‘Alambusa’. At this spot of the Kalpa Vriksha, Bhusunda lived for many Yugas, nay for many Kalpas. He would quit his nest at the time of Pralaya. He had the full knowledge of the five Dharanas. He had rendered proof of himself against the five elements, by practising the five methods of concentration. It is said that when all the twelve Adityas scorch the world with their burning rays, he would through his Apas Dharana reach up the Akasa. When the fierce gales arise splintering up the rocks to pieces, he would be in the Akasa, through Agni Dharana. When the world together with its Mahameru would be under water, he would float on them without any fluctuation through Vayu Dharana and when the time of universal destruction arrived, he would be, as in Sushupti, in the Brahmic seat till the beginning of another creation of Brahma. After this creation, he would again resort to the said nest for his abode. The Kalpa Vriksha, at the summit of the mountain, through his Sankalpa (will-power) would arise and grow up in the similar way, at the beginning of the next Kalpa, every time.” Swami Sivananda Now is a great time of the year to do the Pranayama practice you need to maintain homeostasis as the seasons turn. Who knows you may even meet Yogi Bhusunda. Classes in LinkTree in bio. www.namarupa.org https://www.instagram.com/p/CUODfCBrR9D/?utm_medium=tumblr

What a sage says about life and breath … "Breath is vital not only to the body but also to the mind. The mind which is the source of thought and pranic energy that is the source of breath are the same. Healthy and unhealthy thoughts are to be attributed to different vibrations of the nadis. See for yourself how you breathe when you are at peace and how you breathe when your mind is quickened by desire or anger. When you experience joy of an elevated kind the passage of breath will be through the right nostril, but when you are enjoying sensual pleasure it will be through the left. When you meditate, with increasing concentration, the breath will pass through both nostrils slowly, evenly and rhythmically. When you are absorbed in the object of your meditation, breathing itself will cease, but there will still be life. The great awareness called Jnana will then be in bloom. ... The inert body of a person and the awareness that is the vital essence of their life are both dependent on the course of their breathing. They grow or decay according to it. The course of a person's breath keeps their inner vibrations in order. By controlling our breath through the practice of yoga, it is possible to gain access to the breath of the Paramatman (Supreme Reality) and, by this means, perform such actions as can uplift or own Self as well as humanity." It is quite odd that we have to have so much complexity to remind us of the simple things in life. Sleeping well, keeping a basic regular schedule, eating properly, exercising — all these things have created an industry of complexity and commodities whereas the answer is in every breath we take. Each breath is a gift of Mother Nature, is Mother Nature, is Life itself. We just have to remember to pay attention to the process. It is going on all the time, while awake, asleep or dreaming. The yogis of yore developed some methods of focussing on and enhancing the natural rhythm of the breath. They called it Pranayama — a means of measuring, extending, and moving the life forces in a desirable direction. All without external aids, only using our already present organs that bring the Prana, the life-force, into our bodies, distribute and assimilate it, and keep on working silently to maintain a state of easy well-being. These simple exercises should have been taught to us by our parents' example, or at least in the early years of education as fundamental to everything else. It is never too late to learn the basics — their effects are so beneficial and far reaching. All Classes in bio in LinkTree. https://www.instagram.com/p/CTA9UJ3LoWI/?utm_medium=tumblr
