I’m kind of in awe right now. I mean I would’ve been thrilled with an ensemble part even, but like… this is so awesome! Gomez! I promise to do you all proud and lead this family properly!

Nate was feeling frustrated. By this point he’d spent who knows how many hours locked in a practice room trying to get the musical score down. This was always the part that he hated, when he was able to play what he was looking at but it hadn’t reached the point of effortlessness. He knew he’d get there eventually but the process of getting there was frustrating. 

He wasn’t sure that he wanted Savannah to hear this part of his process but he figured having somewhat of a distraction could make the process more bearable. When he heard the knock on the door he jumped a little, turning to face her. “Uh, I don’t see why not, just don’t make too much of a mess. I’d rather the maintenance crew not hate me this early in the school year.”

Not true! My resume is a musical resume, but it really helps to have experience in other stuff too. Like, my favorite instrument is probably the piano, but they don’t really have that in marching band, so I do… well, I do anything they want me to in marching band, which has been trumpet since I got here, but still. It’s worth it to be well rounded too.

Orchestra auditions are not the same as theater auditions... In theater you’re supposed to be able to draw from experiences or whatever, in orchestras they just want you to be able to play whatever they want you to play inside out and backwards.

Oh good to know that my brother’s showing people things without my knowledge... Thanks though, I practice a lot so I guess it’d be pretty shitty if I still sucked at it.

Wow, I mean okay. Isn’t part of an audition giving over your resume though? I mean, every audition I’ve been on they’ve wanted a resume. Plus, it’s kinda nice to see all of your accomplishments in one place.

Yes, but they don’t really care about anything that isn’t related to your instrument so it wouldn’t be on there anyways. It’s a piano resume, not an arts resume.
