Might as well get my annual reblog in now.

That Play was so beautiful I want to frame it and hang it on my wall.

Context: So my group that I usually play with are doing some quickplay matches, and I have this great idea to do some custom 1v1 matches with each other for fun, since playing tryhards in quickplay and getting dropped by lag constantly was making me frustrated to the point of tears. So we set up a 1v1 tournament with capture point maps, with the remainder of the group spectating and giving colour commentary.

I got picked in the second round to go up against KingDangoz5, the person I consider to be the best player in our group. And since he’s been learning McCree lately and the group knows my deal, they decide it’s going to be a McCree vs. McCree faceoff. He says he can take me, because he knows how I play and he watches all the videos I post here. And for the first half of the round, he’s doing pretty good. He got the drop on me twice, but then we ended up in a shootout and I had the better aim (this got me Play of the Game for that matchup). So when he respawns, I decide to get clever. I use my knowledge of the map and excellent hearing perception to ambush him with the patented Flashbang/Fan the Hammer combo - one time even dropping down on him from above. In the end I won 100% to 70% - afterward (I got disconnected from voice chat at the start of the match so I didn’t hear any of his commentary, which probably worked to my advantage - they thought it was psychological warfare; I was just glad for the chance to focus) he confessed to feeling paranoid the entire time. I felt like my reputation as a McCree player was on the line so I was extremely nervous the entire time too.

Next matchup I get paired against DeathSpawn54, aka Brydan, my irl friend who just got the game a couple days ago. Unfortunately they picked D.va for us to play - a character I played a grand total of 4 minutes on. I lost that round, but still took Play of the Game for chasing his un-meka’d D.va around the control point and shooting her in the face.

Once all the 1v1s were settled, we decided to do some 3v3s with our mains. The other team is scared of me getting the drop on them, but KingDangoz says he knows my style and can predict me. My side lost the first two rounds on Watchpoint: Gibraltar because I can’t carry a team (and in the second round they used D.va to counter me), but I got Play of the Game in both rounds for getting behind them and using deadeye to wipe them out - the very thing KingDangoz said he could predict and avoid.

The third round we switched to Temple of Anubis, and my side was attacking. Again, KingDangoz was overconfident and bragged about being able to predict me. And for most of the match, he did. I managed to get a lucky headshot when he (as Reaper) repositioned right in front of me, but I couldn’t follow up on it. It looked like we were going to lose, until the moment you see in the video. I came straight from the spawn and rushed straight up the middle. I knew they’d be too smart to get caught by my Deadeye, so I used it to tell me where they were - and managed to catch my friend with it, since he hasn’t learned the Deadeye Panic yet.

Knowing that ColossusOF_Clout was in that little room behind the point, I rushed forward and put him down with a Flashbang/Fan the Hammer before he could ult on me.

The point was clear but I still had KingDangoz to deal with. I knew he’d probably drop down or pop out and Death Blossom to clear the point. I was right. As soon as I heard the first DIE I whipped around and fired - good thing he was already low health or that wouldn’t have been enough.

Needless to say, I impressed everyone in that match, and they learned a valuable lesson about challenging me when I’m using my main. I offered to give them lessons on how I play - we’ll see if anyone takes me up on it.

For the longest time, I've been feeling other people's feelings. So I myself don't know how those feelings work for myself, just others.
