Nate never really flaunted about his  music. It was something fun he and his friend did. They made a couple of songs that was on spotify and sometimes made some open mic appearances. To be honest he have fallen out of it for a while so when his friend suggested the open mic he had mixed feelings, but knew it was a way for him to express himself. He had just gotten home from work just managing to settle down before he heard the knock on the door. He was surprised to see Jamie outside of his door. “there is a lot I never had the chance to tell you...” he shrugged.

Jamie was walking back to his apartment, after work that evening, it was a long day and he was just trying to keep himself busy. He had been doing a lot the last week and getting himself back to the way he was before him and Nate. As he was walking home he noticed a poster about an Open Mic but before he could get past it, he noticed Nates face on it, he was very confused, Nate never mentioned he could sing and this was something he never expected Nate to do. He laughed a little before he saw there were two posters so he pulled one off the notice board before heading towards Nates apartment. As he got to the apartment, he knocked on the door. As he saw it open he laughed a little before smiling at the guy. “Hi, you never told me you could sing.” He stated holding the poster up.

I just got out of therapy. It’s the first time I’ve been back since I was 17 and needed to talk through all my gay stuff.

After walking out of that restaurant Nathaniel felt himself slightly panicking. Being the way he was his emotions often took over and he did not want to do something stupid like he did at the bar. Instead he traveled to his younger sister knowing she would be there for him in a heartbeat. He walked up to her door knocking pacing a little as he waited for her to open. As the door opened he looked at her puffed eyes and red cheeks from crying “ can I come in?”

Hearing the words as just friends hit him hard, of course he knew the guy was probably right but he didn’t want it to be just friends. He sighed, “I think you could be right there. I wish we could be more, I do but I feel we’re too different Nate…..I can’t give you what you want.” He said looking down trying to not cry. 

Nate just sat quiet looking down for a moment. He knew that he was right and that the pain was most likely only momentarily. He nodded swallowing “ I’m sorry..i’m just gonna go...” he got up took his jacket back on letting his eyes meet his for a second “ I will see you around okay?” he wanted Jamie to know that he wasnt going to disappear on him, staying friends was something he was going to hold on to. He walked out feeling himself getting emotional as he walked down the street.

Jamie sat there and looked over at the guy, he wanted him in his life but he really wasn’t sure how it was going to work. He smiled at the touch for a moment and looked at him, “I want you in my life too Nate, but….” He sighed a little, “How is this going to work?“ 

As the but came he felt a lump in his stomach moving his hand from his. “I don’t know...i’m not sure that it can work” he took a deep breath not sure what else to say. “Im starting to think maybe we are better off just as friends”

Jamie looked over at him, this was something he didn’t want to do and he didn’t want to be awkward around the guy but the way they had left things the last time they were around each other was not great. He bit his lip, “I didn’t like it either….. Nate… I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I am glad you liked the jewellery. I am not saying I expect you to wear it, but I do hope you keep it no matter what happens.” He said that, not wanting anything to happen between them but he also knew they weren’t in the best place at the moment. “I guess so, to be honest I have been miserable. You turning up today did make me feel slightly better though.”  

Nate moved his hand over to grab Jamies squeezing it a little hoping that would help Jamie relaxed. He did not like seeing him this on edge. “I don’t expect things to go back to the way they were, but I really don’t want to not have you in my life Jamie”

Jamie glanced over at the guy for a moment and smiled, “Thank you.” He smiled trying to hide his nerves. He didn’t know how to feel right now, he didn’t know how their chat was going to go and he didn’t want to get his hopes up about what could happen between them. As they walked in to an area that was a little more private he looked over at the guy as he quickly looked at the menu, “So how have you been Nate?” 

Nate felt awkward something that he rarely did. There was something off, but probably because both were nervous and did not know what was going to happen. “Well... bad, as you might know already” he bit his lower lip a little. “I really did not like how we left things” he swallowed “I got the jewelry though, got me smiling a little” he spoke trying to keep the mood light. “How about you? been doing alright?”

He looked over at him for a moment before looking over at the rose and he smiled,·“Nate.. you didn’t have to. Thank you.” He smiled for a moment as he kissed the guys cheek for a moment. He looked over at her and nodded,·“Okay perfect, theres a restaurant just down the road.” He smiled,·“You look good by the way.” He stated for a moment.·

He gave him a small smile before he continued to walk to the place Jamie suggested.·“Thank you, you too” he usually would make a comment about seeing him work and how that was a turn on, but he didn’t feel like he should do that at this moment. There was still a lot in the air and Nate did not want to seem like he was throwing it all under the rug.. He opened the door for him and walked inside going to a seat in the back where they could be more private.

Jamie looked over at him and bit his lip for a moment before he walked out of the store and locked up before looking at him and nodded. “Okay, well I am starving, would you be okay with grabbing some food? I’ll pay.” He stated looking over at him for a moment, hoping he would say yes, he felt like maybe somewhere public for them to talk would be better since they would have to restrain from raising their voice. 

He bit his lip a little handing him the rose “ i got you this.. I don’t know if you want it or not.. “ he swallowed nodding at Jamies request “ sure we can go eat, I’m not that hungry , but can order a drink or something” he started to walk with Jamie down the road tucking his hands into his pockets.

Jamie looked over at the guy for a moment as they pulled away from each other, honestly, he didn’t know what to think of the kiss or what to expect from it and what this meant for them but he knew one thing, he wasn’t ready for him to be out of his life. He looked at him,·“It’s okay, I am glad to see you. We shout in 15 minutes, are you able to wait for me to finish?” He asked before a customer came over and stopped them and he smiled before returning to the customer and helped them with what they wanted to purchase. As the day came to an end and they shut up shop, he smiled walking towards Nate,·“Okay, we’re finished here, want to go somewhere where we can chat?”·

“Yeah I will wait” he bit his lip giving him a small smile before giving them some space looking down his phone still holding the rose he got him. He got more nervous as he waited for Jamie, not knowing what was going to happen with them He ran his hand though his hair chewing on his lower lip as he waited. He smiled softly as Jamie returned·“ yeah sure, you decide where, I will just follow your lead”

To Nate,

So... I am not sure if we're talking or what ew even are anymore... But this necklace... this was the one I was designing the other week  and it's now made and here. I need to tell you....this necklace has a big meaning to me, you see my mom who I miss every day and wish was still around, her favourite things were butterflies. So this necklace has a lot of meaning to me and I want you to have it because I want you to know you mean a lot to me even if I don't know how to show it.

The blonde offered a soft warm smile after what he said, not really sure what else to do right now. “I um.. I hope we meet again.. while I’m a lot more um.. sober,” she laughed some as she struggled to get her words out smoothly. “Just um.. give me a shout if you see me ‘round,” the influencer added before taking out her phone. Rachel was lucky enough to have a finger print unlock so it made it easy to open however she couldn’t contact anyone easily on her own. “Um.. can you just.. help me text my ride?”

Nate looked at her nodding at her words “I will do my best to do that” he had a memory of a goldfish, but she was quite recognizable so it wouldn’t be too hard to miss her in a crowd. “Yeah sure, you can call as well, “ he spoke taking his phone up for her to use.
