A friend of mine made a fine movie about fandom, joy, and inspiration. Its San Antonio premiere will be July 23 at the San Antonio Film Festival. Interview at the link!

Saying goodbye to one of the Magic Kingdom’s classic attractions. The Liberty Belle, Rivers of America, and Tom Sawyer Island are closed for good. A new “Cars” attraction themed to the National Parks will take their place. Hoping for the best when it comes to keeping water and shade tree elements in the park!

Brand new on Blu-ray from the Criterion Collection... I don’t know if director Charlotte Zwerin was a musician herself, but her film sings. Review at the link!

Mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis is a superior talent. I was lucky to record a concert by her in San Antonio a few years ago. Here she is talking to my colleague Barry Brake about her new album, that includes influences from all over the map.

The San Antonio-based ensemble Viatorum combines world music and classical music to create an amazing sound. Here's an original piece by Ethan Wickman that was captured live as it was broadcast on KPAC 88.3 FM. It's called "The Lost Horses of Autumn." Wickman says he borrowed the title from a Pablo Neruda poem, because he loved the imagery of the words.

Hi. I love your Games People Play video! I used to go to this place all the time in the 80s. Attached are some pics I have. That's me pictured on the season pass aged 8.5 lol in summer 1986. I'm wondering if you have any photos of Games People Play that you could post or send? Maybe a story or any memories?

Yes, check out this old footage of my 9th birthday in 1982!

The guitarist Jiji had us spellbound while performing one of her own compositions in the KPAC Performance Studio on 4/2/25. This piece, "Very Berry Strawberry," was inspired by her favorite flavor of ice cream growing up. Those delicate harmonics are just as magical as the sweet, fruity flavor of the Baskin-Robbins favorite. Enjoy!!
(Jiji performs with the San Antonio Philharmonic on April 4 & 5, 2025. Details at http://saphil.org)
