ARE YOU READY
MIST is 2 days away!!! Everyone must remember to CHECK THEIR EMAILS. Make sure to read everything because they do contain important information that you need to know and other things that may be to your benefit. An important link titled “Student Signature Sheet” is attached and it is extremely important that it is filled out and signed by your parents as well as Coach Saba. If you are not receiving emails from either MIST Philly or Ifra Sharief regarding bus timings, list of teams, etc then contact Saba Ali or Sumera Ali ASAP.
Some things to include in your checklist:
~Competition items (Check rulebook too)
~ Prepare for any competition interviews
~Spirit gear/ banners/ posters
~Headphones/charger
~Money for items there (More than $20 probably will not be necessary)
Good luck and prayers go out to the boys competing in basketball. Remember the dress code for both days, bring all your spirit and smiles, and let’s make all our hard work pay off iA!

Video
youtube
Every single day we wake up and a lot of times we aren't even thankful for what we have. We don't spare one minute to say Alhamdulillah or appreciate the joy of waking up to our family and friends. We don't appreciate the roof above our heads, the food on our table, and every “small” thing in our life.
I love this video just because it puts you in a position that is unimaginable. Not just the scary position but through the eyes of a child which is just unfathomable. It truly hits you that people face this daily. This is what children in Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan, etc. face every single day.

وَلَا تَلْبِسُوا الْحَقَّ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُوا الْحَقَّ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
And cover not Truth with falsehood, nor conceal the Truth when ye know (what it is).
2.42
Remember to always be true to yourself and others. In our world today many people tell multiple lies so they can shape the kind of person they want to be perceived as. In the Quran it tells you to never conceal how things are or to lie when you know the truth.

Our Clarity of Sincerity
Everyone has a different perspective and opinion on what certain things mean. Because of this, I asked every member of Newark Force a question about sincerity to see the different answers I would get.
Question: What does sincerity mean to you and why do you think it is important?
Answers:
➛  Mahnoor: “Sincerity means to be kind and sincere to the people around you. It is important because it’s good to have trust when it comes to  the people you care about”
➛  Riyyan: “I feel as though sincerity is another way to describe modesty. You clearly strive towards your ambitions and make good progress, but when it comes to bragging you don't. A sincere and modest person is, in my opinion, the best kind of person. He or she can be trusted and there is never that feeling of inferiority or unhealthy competition.”
➛  Sumera: “Sincerity to me means breaking out of the small cage we build for ourselves in this dunya. It is not only seeing all the good everyone and everything is doing for us, but also appreciating it. I think it’s important because without sincerity no one would be humble or appreciate what we we have. No one would be true to themselves or others”
➛  Shaqaiq: “To me, sincerity is when you do something for the well-being of someone else and you know that Allah (SWT) will be pleased with you. It is important because it’s a cycle of positive energy and genuine love for others and that what makes us Muslims.”
➛  Argavan: “Sincerity means that you do something for the the reason of expecting nothing in return but for the simple fact that it’s helping that person. It is wanting the better for those who you know cant match what you have.”
➛  Noor: “Sincerity to me is keeping pure intentions, mainly doing the right thing for the right reasons. I think it’s important because it benefits you in this life by granting you with real friends, makes you feel good about yourself, and will result in a better afterlife.”
➛  Zuhayr: “Sincerity is to be genuine. It is important to stay sincere and way from hypocrisy.”
➛  Hibah: “Sincerity to me means being honest with yourself, others, and Allah when taking in any deed. It is important because it eliminates lies, so in a way it helps bring peace.”
➛  Maryam: “Sincerity is knowing long before performing an action that you’re gonna do it and why. I think it’s important because they say actions speak louder than words but its intentions behind the action speaks louder.”
➛  Ahsen: “Sincerity for me is to believe in a choice or opinion from your heart, no matter what anyone says or anything that happens. Without sincerity, there would no originality nor would people think for themselves.”
➛  Saba: “In my opinion, sincerity means to grow and prosper into a better person. It means to overcome your mistakes and to be true to yourself, to be modest, and to learn from the mistakes instead if just living with them.”
➛  Abeer: “Sincerity is the truth behind every action you make. It strengthens your imam, relationships, and your soul. To be sincere and surround yourself with those who are sincere is to live free of deceit and hypocrisy.”
“Our world is not shaped by those who think similarly, but by those who dare to think differently.” -   Rashida Rowe

Advice Column - Table Talk
Question: “I am in 11th grade and I want to start wearing the hijab next year. I am scared that people will ask me so many questions that i cannot answer. I am also just worried about wanting to take it off, the danger involved, feeling less pretty, etc. I don’t know what to do.”
Answers:
Hibah: Don’t be scared of peoples questions! Most people are just curious to learn more about the religion. People tend to ask basic questions, like the reasoning behind the hijab in Islam as well as your personal reasons for wearing it. Think of explanations beforehand so you can confidently respond once a question pops up :) I’ve been wearing hijab since I was 12, and I believe its not something to be afraid of. Many people are accepting of it.
Sumera: Hello anonymous! I am actually planning on starting to wear hijab this summer iA and I am extremely excited! Dont be scared to show everyone who you actually are. A couple years ago I wanted to wear the hijab but I cared too much about what people thought of me. But then I started to surround myself with other muslim friends and they influenced me to start wearing it. You will find your true friends once you show who you actually are. Also, you will be so much happier because you will know why you are wearing it and you will start to see the great change it brings into your life.
Noor: Hi anon! Like Sumera, I plan on wearing the hijab this summer iA. I have all the same worries as you, and I know many other girls do as well. It’s completely natural, so don’t worry :) We can’t let these thoughts repress us; I have been delaying wearing hijab since 6th grade, and I finally told myself it’s now or never! A new grade = a new start. Make dua for Allah to give you confidence when answering people’s questions, and involve yourself in more Muslims events because it really allows you to love Islam and gives you the desire to actually put it on. Good luck!!

A sincere view of life leads you down the right path towards Allah. Sincerity leads you to self realization and helps you become who you are. It all links together because when you ask for purity and piety, you are asking for Allah to guide you to the right path and to help you see clearly.
