[FRANCE] J'ai du vin rouge et des roses, avez-vous une histoire à partager avec moi? (French: I have red wine and rose, do you have a story to share with me?) _ Happy Valentine 2019. Made a meat rose at home using beef salami to pair with the Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Please ignore about my clumsy hand and the not-good-looking plate. Anyway, the beef salami was quite tasty though. Quite a unique red wine, especially the outlook (distorted bottle shape with the rough texture on the bottle) and the wine label which written in French. My point of buying is the unique wine cape design and the bottle shape. Took me a while to pronounce correctly the name, thanks to the wine seller and Google. _ Great bright ruby color with transparency when observed from above. Oak, leather, blueberry, spices and a bit of lavender on nose with flavor of leather, blackberry, cheese, pepper on palate. One thing to notice is the breath exhaled right after drinking is a bit of strong and smoky. Smooth and long finish. _ Valentine is such a pain for a long distance couple like me. Anyway, no matter you are single, divorced, couple, or even not preparing to love anyone, the most important thing is to love yourself first. [CHILE] Vino nos reúne. (Spanish: Wine brings us together) _ Another great art piece from Chile. Never disappointed with Chilean wine, not to mention this Chilean Syrah won the Silver medal at Decanter World Wine Awards 2015. Not really willing to drink this wine (actually I planned to keep it for another few years) as the price rose about 26% in two months after I purchased it and I think the value will keep increasing. Since it’s the 2019 Chinese New Year and my eldest sister rarely came back from overseas, therefore we are having a simple BBQ dinner and pairing with this fantastic wine. _ Amazing Syrah wine with deep dark violet color. Strong notes of leather, oak and black currant on nose with flavors of plum, cherry, dark chocolate on palate. Smooth and strong tannin with a great long finish, the aftertaste is more on the dry side. I paired it with BBQ salmon and beef streaky, the combination is weird but quite tasty though. _ I try my best to drink only a glass of red wine every day as I need to control my calorie intake. However, Alto Tajamar is so tasty and irresistible, I drank a half bottle during dinner. I don’t always buy red wine that’s more than 100USD, but I truly understand what is mean by “what you pay is what you get”. Definitely another great milestone for my wine blog. Having lunch with my sister at @gonoodlehouse . Pairing of Spicy Soup Rice Noodle with 10 years old's Hua Diao Chiew (Shao Xing wine) is the perfect match. The spicy soup have the sweet and sour characteristic, fanstastic wine aromas, tasty and unstopable feeding. _ Noticed there is 30 years old's Hua Diao Chiew but quite expensive. [GERMANY] Unsere Freundschaft ist unbezahlbar. (German: Our friendship is priceless.) _ Having this great Germany Riesling with secondary schoolmate during the Chinese New Year gathering. Definitely a good decision because the Riesling is definitely a popular demand and we managed to finish it within 15mins. As we grew up and heavily tied by our occupation, we hardly meet each other and gather together. I sincerely appreciate this gathering and hopefully will have another gathering soon. _ German Riesling is always my top choice when attending a dinner with lady guests. Pale yellow color white wine with 8.5% alcohol. Notes of peach, lemon and bit of apple aromas on nose while flavors of honey, pear, citrus, lemon on palate. Not really sweet, more on dry side, short finish with great acidity. Definitely my type of white wine. _ The problem is, I drank too much of sweet wine recently. So glad the Dr. Loosen Riesling is more on dry and fruity side. Wine with screw cap is always my secondary choice (although some of them are really great) due to no wine cap and wine cork to collect. Anyway, I figured out a way to collect them as well: using a mini tube cutter to cut down the cap into thin coin-like shape. [California] (Part 2 of 2) My first rose wine! Visited hundreds of wine shops and saw rose wine countless times, but didn’t consider it because I prefer dry red wine instead of sweet wine. As the company's annual dinner is coming and there are several female guests at the dinner, so I decided to buy this rose wine. Nonetheless, this decision didn't disappoint me as we finished the Moscato and White Zinfandel quite quickly! Hopefully our guest will fall in love with wine after they have tasted these amazing wines. _ Unlike my prediction, the smell and taste of rose wine is not like roses. However, the color of the wine is very attractive as it matches the color of the red tablecloth at dinner. Notes of strawberry, orange, raspberry and light floral on the nose, while sweet melon and lemon flavors on palate. Because the alcohol index is relatively lower than dry red wine (only 9.5%), so I tend to drink more. _ The conclusion is that rose wine is a very good attempt, because sweetness is always the best friend of the ladies. (At least most of the ladies I known). Best serves when chilled, hardly resistable. However, I still prefer dry red wine. After all, the White Zinfandel is too sweet for me, and the calories are relatively high due to its sugar content. [CALIFORNIA] (Part 1 of 2) Brought this sweet white wine, sweet rose wine and a famous dry red for my company annual dinner on 3rd Feb 2019. We have only eight people drinking wine, and basically they only drink a glass or two, so I drank the most. _ After few hours of screening and in-depth consideration at wine shop, I finally chose this MOSCATO. First, because it has an aluminium wine cape and the wine cork for collection. While the second is because the price is about 10% cheaper than the recommended price on Vivino app. Lastly is because of high rating. _ A very special bottle of white wine with huge similarity on aroma and taste. Aromas of apple, pineapple, and melon, while flavors of apple, pineapple, melon and little bit of citrus on palate. The wine has a pale-gold color with a bit of green hue. It is a fruity, coveted white wine. Medium finish with 9.5% alcohol. _ Although the wine promoter told me that Moscato was sweet, I didn't expect it to be that sweet. Although the wine is delicious, but I hardly drink more than three glasses. Mingling of East- West. Red Wine from #stellenbosch, #southAfrica pairing with spicy chicken dumpling (with some spicy Chinese pickles) is definitely a good try! _ "POP!". A loud cannon bang was heard when wine cork pulled out from the bottle, conform with the logo on the bottles and the winery’s name. It’s an interesting dry red wine, very dry and yet carry the fruit-forward characteristic. Aromas of plum, vanilla, blackberry and cedar on nose while taste of cherry, berries and mocha in my mouth. It was a little spicy at first, and then sweet aftertaste. Smooth and long finish, excellent quality. It should be noted that although it is 14.5% alcohol, it feels more prone to drunk. Maybe it is due to the wine is too smooth and easy drinking. _ Been working hard to control the daily calorie intake recently, try my best to control my every day’s wine intake.
