my friend events this week:

I reached out to an old high school friend after 12 years of not speaking, only to find that she's in Greece doing a phd on psychiatric euthanasia. I confessed to being ignorant about the topic, so she emailed me 19 research papers and said "this will be a good start"

I asked another friend to provide a professional reference for me as part of a grant application. she agreed to, on the condition that I log into neopets, collect the daily free item, and transfer it to her account

This is not the usual kind of post I reblog on this blog, but Donny is such a genuine and kind person, and they need help right now. I hope none of my followers mind me signal boosting this, and if you do ... I'm not sorry for trying to help someone I'm worried about!!!!!!

So... I just quit my job.

I've been there for 9 years, and I tried asking for a raise, as well as mentioning that other people at the office were due for raises and hadn't received any. One person has been doing the duties of a role, but hasn't received a pay raise for it, for nearly a year now. All because they weren't "officially" put into that position, and it was just "temporary" until someone new was hired.

Despite being there for 9 years, I made less than everyone else, except for the one person who is paid minimum wage. I was making less than people I trained. I was making less than people who I was technically the boss of, given my job title.

The way I was talked to during that meeting, I decided "no, we won't follow up on this tomorrow. I simply will not come in tomorrow." And I gathered up all my stuff, and I walked out. I left my key fob, so I can't even come back, even if I wanted to.

So... If anyone wants to help me out, my financial situation is dismal, and I could really use some help while I look for another job.

Oh my god. I remember learning about those shop cookie grabbers from the neoboards when I was a kid and being terrified of going to any user shops! That's fascinating actually. I also remember reading about Grundo's Gym and the exploit as well, but no one ever went into detail about what the exploit was and why it was taken down!

Tell me about the ridiculous shit you've done regarding neopets over the years:3

Ohhhhhhh boy, I think my favorite was cross-painting my beloved Hissi Transparent/Halloween so he has TWO TIMES the bones. Also, this was on one of the fan recreations of classic Neopets, but I amassed a collection of every single Mutant pet, and named them all after bosses from The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.

Oh, and I used to write for the Petpet Park section of Jellyneo. RIP Petpet Park, I loved you dearly.

so there’s this item on neopets called chia flour and what it does is basically, you’re in the battledome against someone else’s pet and you lob it at em and it turns them into a yellow chia. the thing is, the effect doesn’t end when the battle does. like… your pet literally becomes a yellow chia forever. so you could be in there with a really expensive plushie draik or something, a restricted hard-to-get species with a ridiculously expensive color, and suddenly its a chia.

its terrifying, and there have been stories of like, dedicated griefers with millions of neopoints to spend going out of their way to ruin people’s pets. the item has been retired for a while now, so theyre actually in limited supply so people arent really concerned about having chia flour lobbed at their pets anymore…

but it turns out using this illegal neopets site you can just blow 40 bucks on some and really really really really really mess up someone’s day
