I made a D&D inspired Inktober prompt list. You can interpret it any way you want to. Use your own D&D characters, use other members of your party or create new characters! Most importantly, have fun!
If you tag me and use the hashtag #DnDinktober, I can look at your creations!

I’m in no way sneering. Not only because that’s actually impossible via text, but because I’m not actually contemptuous or mocking in any way.
Its ok if its not helpful to you. In fact that might be a bit intentional because I wasn’t agreeing with the entirety your post, just parts of it. People respond differently to various methods. What is ‘supremely unhelpful’ to one might just be what another needs.
At least we agree somewhat though. It definitely wasn’t “his time to die”, and I have another post where I ask that people take what time they need to get through their feelings on the matter. Its a rough spot for many, and I understand that. I was just weighing in my opinions, of which its definitely ok to have differing ones.
Molly’s “time”
I’ve seen some posts saying that Clay is all about accepting that it was Molly’s “time” to die and the party and fans should “move on already.”
It was not Molly’s “time” to die. He wasn’t old. He wasn’t seriously ill and resolved to his fate. He was young and full of life and fighting like hell to save his friends from sadistic slavers. He died not knowing if Yasha and the others would be rescued. He died as a sadist’s cruel example of what fate could befall the rest of the team should they try and pursue the Iron Shepherds. There was nothing natural, balancing, or expected about that death.
From a narrative and game standpoint too, it wasn’t Molly’s time to die either. He’s got a whole massive backstory we know very little about, that we now might never find out until after the campaign ends. They hadn’t given Molly’s story a satisfactory end, or explored all that he had to offer. What about Cree, the blood hunter cult, the mysterious woman who possibly sabotaged their ritual? These are dangling plot threads that are now just sorta … there.
Not every story needs to end satisfactorily. Sometimes mysteries remain mysteries. Sometimes people die too young or too soon. That might end up being the case here with Molly. (They’ve got a lot working against them: a time limit, a lack of high level clerics, a ban on resurrections in the Empire, and out of game they desperately need a second healer in the team and they all know it.)
But this was definitely not Molly’s “time.” This was abrupt. This was untimely. This was tragic. And this is not something the team, or many fans, are just going to “get over” right away.

Critical Role is great but like most things it's got a fandom that's less than stellar. People are being ridiculous ever since the Molly thing.
I hold the unpopular opinion that Molly wasn't that great so maybe that's why I've no strong feelings but I can still empathize with people who are sad (even if I don't really get it).
Take your time to mourn. Defend and criticize who you will. Take the time you need to vent whatever emotions you're currently holding.
Just don't be an ass about it.

"The bacon gets a surprise round." - The DM, when someone wanted to prevent the absent-minded cleric from using bacon as a bookmark in a Tome of Understanding.

Looking up at your players with that Calm Look of Panic™ after rolling dice.
Realizing that you’re the DM and you’re allowed to ignore or change rolls behind your screen to fit the situation to make things more fun, exciting, difficult, or easier than it currently is.
Pulling out a large miniature you bought specifically for the boss fight and all your players go wild at the sight of it.
When the players have been RPing for 30 minutes and you get to sit back and watch and be entertained by their shenanigans, drama, and evolving interactions with each other without needing dice rolls.
The DM Poker Face™ when players are discussing their plan and you know that nonsense isn’t going to work.
When the nonsense plan works and you don’t know whether you should be proud or cry.
DM Culture
Snark about crit fail perception checks, e.g. “I go into the cave” “Roll a perception check” “Nat 1” “You suspect you may be in a cave”
“Are you sure you want to do that?”
The eyebrow raise and weary “Okay” when they say yes
The constant battle to stop your players from flirting with every NPC
The constant battle with that one player who thinks all the monsters are REALLY hot
“You can certainly try!”
The weary sigh and scramble to come up with stats when they initiate combat in a moment that was supposed to be completely calm
The utter shock and secret pride when they solve what was supposed to be a combat situation completely nonviolentlently
The utter fucking DELIGHT of writing a moment that lands really well and that the players all love
That moment of sheer panic and desperate scrambling when they do the one fucking thing you didn’t plan for
Just, when you’re in the middle of a session and you look around and realize everyone is really into it and all these people you care about are having a really really good time because of something you organized and your heart swells a little
pls add more!!!
