Key metric and unfair advantage
Based on what we discussed in class, create a new blog post with your key metrics:
People - Who will you impact? How? How will you measure that impact?
People in the communities, families with infrastructure problems will receive quality households.
People who sign up to help build and learn how to build can get employment and bring an additional income to their community.
Those looking to build big houses will receive more environmentally friendly and better designed houses.
The impact can be measured with:
The relative number of people who has recently lost their household due to structural issues after a natural disaster. **
The unemployment rate in the area decreases in numbers of unemployed people thanks to the job we are giving them.
The improvement of quality of life in housing. The increase of income.
The amount of households in good conditions or repaired.
The positive feedback of the people.
The amount of eco-friendly houses built.
The decreasing amount of children working instead of studying.
Profit
The profit would be almost exclusively received by the construction of houses, not really from the communities, though the workforce comes from these communities.
We can measure it by taking a look at the amount of houses we have sold, the utilities and the amount of projects that are under construction.
Planet - only for those projects that have and evident impact on the planet. How are you impacting the planet? How will you measure your impact?
Environmental impact can be measured by several factors.
Carbon emissions saved while reducing the use of concrete in our buildings.
Carbon emissions saved from using local materials instead of shipping to the communities.
Energy savings from sustainable houses. (AC)
Construction waste reduction in comparison with traditional building methods.
Thermal comfort compared to concrete thermal comfort.
In comparison to a conventional house:
Water conservation
Energy conservation
Materials
Indoor environmental quality
Unfair advantage:
Our enterprise lowers the carbon footprint during the construction process, reduces unemployment of women and vulnerable communities and prepares them against natural disasters.

Blog entry: Value Proposition
Purpose
We want to aid the people in communities living in bad conditions to have access to better infrastructure, most of these people lack the majority of the main services needed to live. It´s a social problem affecting millions of people.
Impact
The social impact we seek in these communities is to give them the chance, the tools required to grow in their economic and laboral fields, just a push so they can get on track to better themselves, their lives and their surroundings.
Value Proposition Statement
For the margin areas, such as Los Olvera city council, which is a very poor and needy community located in the surroundings of Queretaro city who in the majority are dissatisfied with their construction of their houses due to the cheap and poor quality material. The main problem they have been suffering through the years is the cracks and leaks that appear in this small town. Our solution is a workshop that involves inviting people to learn and work on their severe problem which is to have a house worth living that provides basic construction tools and techniques for a better way of living and developing new skills for them and the youngsters. Unlike competitors’ products and other alternatives, such as Grupo MIA and government campaigns, we offer superior value because the government is not one hundred percent involved in this small business, due to personal tastes for money and the main difference we identify is the free access we provide to the Los Olvera community. This places us one step ahead of our competitors because of our initiative and passion to spread a better way to renew and build houses.

Our approach is to improve marginalized people´s houses in order to improve their quality of life. That being said, we focused on those people who suffer from natural disasters and are in danger because of the quality of their households.
Our idea is to build emergency houses after the disaster happens so that people can sleep safe comfortable while their houses are fixed or the problems are being solved.
According to the second idea, we noticed that many households have cracks, which in some cases are a consequence of a bad structure. These cracks and structural problems expose marginalized people for getting a cold, having illnesses, plagues, or worst, being demolished by natural disasters. We chose to evaluate those cracks in order to identify the risks and to teach people who live there to fix them. By this, we will help them be self-sufficient and they will not suffer anymore because of the past mentioned problems.
The third idea is to relocate those people who live in bad living conditions at their households in order to create a self-sustainable community where they share the wells with each other and can build, produce and consume everything with their own raw materials without depending on the cities or other people. Our approach was to also teach them how to be sustainable and how to build quality houses for having a better quality of life.
We chose the second idea - to evaluate risks in households and help them fix them - because we thought it is an idea that really solves one of the problems that is that the people don´t have the knowledge and the means to fix them. Also, it is not a partial solution because the knowledge stays and the fixing will make the household last longer.

Bio-architecture is the future of responsible architecture. This building is built with a technique that is called Tapial, which is made only of clay and a small amount of water. These walls have been compressed by hand layer by layer and generate a thermal comfort in the interior, no harm for the environment and a honest and different aesthetic proposal.

Nature has so much to teach us, it often shows us how powerful and perfect it is, always finding its balance. Biomimicry studies and imitates nature to find solutions. In architecture, it is seen as a mentor that gives solutions and ideas to design, often in the search for new and more sustainable ways of living, by learning from plant structures, systems that work with the elements, nature´s forms of giving shelter, and cope with the change of the climate. Architecture that finds its way to use this science, has become an example of good praxis, and amazing structure achievements.

Buildings never looked so good being naked. Timber structures are the future of beauty, functionality, and sustainability. By timber being a renewable resource, it absorbs and stores carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and the market is growing to have responsible use of it, by bringing timber from responsible production of timber. And as a plus to the use of this amazing natural material, timber brings thermal comfort, sound-absorbing structure, and cleaner spaces. Timber is beautiful as it is so it doesn’t need to be, covered, painted of decorated, the new trend is to use it and admire it.

We have reached a point where doing no damage is not enough to solve climate change. In the urge of finding buildings that benefit its surroundings, it has grown in importance the development of regenerative architecture, which has as pillars of the design using nature as a medium to cure places, and at the same time reducing the impact of the building by using responsible materials; and bringing a long time benefit to the ecosystem of the place by absorbing carbon emissions, producing food in a responsible way and giving animals and plants a safe space to grow. The beauty of this type of architecture not only lies on its benefits to the environment, but also on how it promotes education about conservation and restoration
