It’s so lovely to see how far you’ve come. Just as you’ve mentioned in previous asks/posts, I do *often* think of all the creators and people I’ve grown fond of in the fandom since… 2013? Or so. You all have created such sweet memories I’ll forever cherish. Especially now <3

i never left! my arm hurt for a while, and shipping avowed took a lot of time and energy, so i was lurking and feeling sorry for myself instead of posting creative work. i feel better now, but the landscape of The Poster's Domain has changed. people don't post as much about their projects or do, like, random OC nonsense anymore. that's cool - to everything a season - but i'm kind of wandering the living room like vincent vega to figure out where i fit in and what people would enjoy from me. (i'm overthinking it.)

It's been so long, but this morning I had this very physical flashback of your saint's row art, specifically the one where your boss talks to carlos in the train.

God you don't know how much that piece stuck with me, like damn I started drawing and (later) writing just because of it. I'm so happy I found you again! A lot of the saint's row artists just deactivated and man... I miss those days 😂😂

there's really nothing kinder you can say to a creative person than "your work inspired me to make something." do you post your stuff anywhere? i'd love to check it out.

i too have been thinking about the saints row heyday lately. i came to know so many funny, cool, talented saints row fans that i lost touch with as i got old and social media got weird. some have deactivated, as you said. others just haven't posted in years. there's also a certain amount of fandom continental drift that i take for granted - people chat less often when they're not playing in the same room. (it's also normal when the canon is, for better or worse, complete. RIP volition, would've loved to write for ya if i got the chance.) the great thing, i've found, is that if i'm willing to take the risk of being annoying, people always seem happy to hear from me again.

but i agree, i'd love to know what came of the ones who vanished entirely. i hope they're out there saving the world or something!

I’ll always remember the post you made going into Rosie’s design, especially the line about how Rosie’s tattoos are arranged almost like armor pieces on her body. It inspired the placement of my own OC Bridget’s tattoos, along with her own reasoning for them. Good to see you around 💜

hey you! i remember bridget! saints row came up in a work thread yesterday and i was reminded of how much i missed those goofy games. i've put a lot of thought into other character designs since then, but i don't think any of them have required as much sheer research as rosie's. bless her, she's worth it

@ain-person left a funny tag on my recent ffxiv art and it reminded me of a lore thing i wanted to ramble about when i had the time

so one of royce's defining traits is that she's almost forty and had a long career as a dragoon before the calamity hit. she then spent years as a wanderer before ARR began. being the warrior of light is a reluctant second act for her. because of that, i decided to have a little meta fun with it and plant easter eggs that suggest royce is a player going through new game+.

this is why she:

wears augmented deepshadow armor, which is level 80 gear

wields a unique variant of the augmented shire halberd, which is level 60 gear

has a black chocobo despite players not receiving one until heavensward (or, failing that, are unlikely to be able to dye their regular one)

kitted the bird out with sleipnir and max-level DPS barding

has been to kugane and doma and helped the liberation front

implies she did both hullbreaker isle and the shadow of mhach raids before she met the scions

recognizes the boss of the stone vigil

has a long preexisting friendship with raubahn

has experience fighting magitek and imperials

they all have explanations in her various (unpublished, RIP) writing projects, and of course she has no foreknowledge of how the main story will go. but i enjoy being a timeline gremlin about it. i watched .hack//sign as a kid, i can't resist the urge to get crafty with an MMO

I think everyone on the Yamanote line knows your ass just got off the Skyliner. It's like going to NYC on the train that stops at Newark airport. We all take turns being that asshole.❤️🤝❤️

LMAO yeah, i'm sure they did. this is what i meant when i said "nutritious adult experiences." small moments of inconvenience that remind you, in some way, you're not the main character of reality and you still have new things to experience.

finally having the privilege to travel has done a lot of that. i've become shy and worried about offending people in my old age, and i think it's courteous for americans to be good stewards when they're abroad. i try to learn at least some of the language if i don't already speak it (in paris i did), i carry a translated allergy card, and i do months of research before i leave. something always goes wrong, though. i messed up my transit card and three station attendants had to reset it, and i was late to check in at my ryokan, which was humiliating. wouldn't trade it for anything, though!

(fun fact: reddit told me to take the normal train from haneda to shinagawa instead, then change lines at shinagawa and get off at shinjuku, where i stayed. 12/10, completely painless, absurdly easy city to navigate as a wide-eyed first-timer who can't read the language 😗🤌)
