raise your hand if you grew up eating papayas as a kid 🤚🏽. Papayas are indigenous to Central America & Mexico, and thought to have traveled to the Caribbean, Philippines, India, Malaysia in the 16th century via the Spanish. Now also on the African continent, Australia, South America and other regions. After making my cousins/sister watch the salt episode of samin nosrat’s Salt Fat Acid Heat (i was seeing it for the fourth time), we put sea salt on cut up papaya and it was joyous. My dad tried it without a reaction, but then advertised it hard to my uncle 😂

A banana tree block print is pictured - The first of a series of 5 designs 😉 And when I say imperialism, I mean Palestine. I mean what the US did to Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Haiti, Panama, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, the Philippines. What the British did to India, Iraq, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Jamaica, Egypt, Ghana, Gambia, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, Botswana and many, many more - over 60. What France did to Tunisia, Algeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Niger, Mali, Madagascar, Republic of Congo, Mauritania, Guinea, Haiti, and many more.
