Hussein, my eldest son, asked me to draw. We couldn’t find a special drawing notebook, so he drew on his school notebook, and we found some colors. I saw from his drawing how he longs for the feeling of home, security and warmth.

My son longs to see trees and natural scenery instead of destruction and devastation. I shared the drawing with him and told him that Palestine will be free and we talked about the fact that we have many friends who will not support us constantly and will not let us suffer alone in this war.

He offered to write some of them and I said that you have advised well. They are truly wonderful and giving people and I hope you will always be that way, my friends.

An Update from Gaza🇵🇸, For Those Who Still Care

I write this update from the heart of Gaza, For those who still carry a shred of humanity… For those wondering: how are we living? In truth, we are silently dying. The situation has become unbearable. We no longer fear the bombs as much as we fear hunger. Bread has disappeared. Flour is gone. Mothers grind what’s left of rice or lentils to bake on wood fires, just so a child feels they’ve eaten something. Baby formula is unavailable. We now drink salty water. Even tree leaves are no longer an option for those thinking of cooking them. Markets are empty… No vegetables, no oil, no sugar, nothing. We wait in long lines under the sun or rain, hoping for a loaf of bread, if it exists, and often return with nothing. Famine is not an exaggeration… It’s the reality we live every hour. Children have become walking skeletons. Women faint from hunger while cooking, if there is anything to cook. The elderly do not complain… because no one is listening anymore. Chaos is rising… Hunger has driven some to steal. Hunger has turned kindness into weakness, and silence into slow death. Chaos prevails because stomachs are empty, and hearts are broken. I am Hazem, Not a journalist, not an activist, not seeking fame. I’m just a Palestinian young man trying to share his pain… and the pain of his family… and the pain of two million people trapped in this hell. All my life, I dreamed of holding my child and playing with them, But now… I fear marriage. I fear bringing a child into this cruel world. And I thank God that all my attempts to get married have failed. Because I don’t know what I would say if my child screamed at me: “Feed me!” I don’t write these words to seek pity… I write them to scream with whatever voice we have left. We are not only dying under bombs… We are dying now: From hunger, oppression, isolation, and the world’s silence. I write these words with a broken heart, I write them while I am hungry, Knowing that the ugliest phase of this war is not the bombs, But this phase: The phase of deliberate siege and starvation of an entire people. Israel cuts Gaza's final internet line, plunging it into total communication blackout.

Israel bombed the last main fibre route in Gaza, which means that as of June 12, all internet and fixed-line communication services are now completely cut off, further isolating Gaza amidst an ongoing genocide.

I am seeing more and more calls from inside of Gaza for help with eSims as that is currently the only way they can connect internally and with the outside world.

Every day, the situation in Gaza gets worse. Every minute, a child dies. There is no treatment, no hospitals, no schools, and not even homes to live in. Gaza is no longer livable.

There is no food, no clean water. The situation is catastrophic and beyond what words can describe. Think deeply about these heartbreaking words. My family and I are living in this hell, waiting for the border to open so we can escape as soon as possible. But we don’t have enough money to flee.

He recently reached his initial goal, €50,000, but was forced to extend the goal to €80,000 because they are waiting for the crossings to open in order to travel to safety and the cost of food in Gaza is now so expensive.

My friend Fadel ( @fadel-dani ) relies on asking strangers for money in order to survive. It is an extremely vulnerable and precarious position for anyone to be in, even in otherwise stable conditions. But he does not have the privilege of living within otherwise stable conditions.

He is a young man with a chronic illness for which he cannot afford the medication.

He survived Israel bombing his family's house, leaving him homeless and severely injured.

Shrapnel is still deep in the tissue of his body, causing chronic pain, because the medical infrastructure in Gaza is decimated and he must travel outside the country to receive surgery as soon as possible.

The availability of food has dropped and the price of food has raised dramatically as the people of Gaza endure a genocidal famine.

During all of this, Fadel has spent his very limited energy building relationships with strangers in the hopes that enough of us can help him to raise the money he needs to get to a hospital for surgery and treatment. He got his campaign vetted by @gazavetters list (#197), @90-ghost, and @a-shade-of-blue to make sure that people would trust him.

He raised nearly 50% of his goal, only for GoFundMe to cruelly delete his fundraiser with no warning or explanation (something this company has done to many Palestinians trying to survive genocide) and he was forced to start over with a new campaign. Despite GoFundMe's deletion of his first campaign automatically returning all donations to the donors, most people who previously donated have not taken the time to send that money back to him.

Today as I write this (May 25, 2025) he has only raised 23% of his goal, just under half of where he had been a month ago when his previous campaign was deleted.

Please, please send some money to Fadel. Every campaign by someone surviving genocide is urgent, everyone is trying to escape to safety and avoid bombing. Fadel has been bombed already and desperately needs medical care for his injuries. He is a generous, compassionate young man, and I have no doubt in my mind that were positions reversed and you were in his place, he would help you to survive. Please offer him the same compassion.
