Loosely written for @nabrosweek Day 3: Childhood! This gets mentioned in Il Lupo Rosso, but Matthew lives up in Canada and is a seasonal trails worker, so Alfred doesn't see his twin too often and is overjoyed when he does. I definitely have an itch to write another fic for the Rosso'verse, that goes into how Al ends up buying the bowling alley and running his own business. I've really enjoyed exploring America and Canada's characters more since returning to the fandom. c: I don't think I'll get to the fic about Al's for a bit, so this was a fun toe-dip into those waters for now. As always, thanks for indulging me on my own AU haha!

#finally rewrote the first couple of paragraphs to my NA Bros/Rossoverse fic bc it's been bothering me for a while #and ughhhhhh so much better. sometimes it's nice to give some time between edits to really figure it out aha #I feel a little bad bc this fic is only loosely fitting into the Day 3 promp for NA Bros week but I hope it'll be okay :x #mostly an excuse to write more stuff from Rosso'verse :xxx #useless post is useless #But I'll probably give it another read through but it should be good to go #I still need to finish my second fic for SpAus week next(?) week aaaaaaaaaaa and finish edits on the first fic #but I think the second fic is going ot end up being pretty short which will be okay #and then Art Fight starts tomorrow 👀

#saw F1 and it was actually really good #I feel like films that are like more about niche interests I like more bc they feel like genuine passion projects #like it really felt like the writers and probably the other creatives involved in it are super into F1/racing and it was a chance to show it #whereas more general genre films (like we saw ads for Nobody 2 (had never even heard of the first) or any other action film or a lot of #romcoms are like this too they just feel like too general even if the folks who made it really do care about it?#another recent example that comes to mind is The Bear which I think really is a testament and tribute to the restaurant industry and you #can feel it in the writing and filming #knives out or glass onion I think are two examples of where a mystery/whodunnit were made by folks who just love that genre and puzzles #anyway even if you’re not into racing or cars (which I wouldn’t say that I am by any stretch of the imagination lol) I’d recommend it #useless post is useless #I feel like you can also tell that it’s made by folks who are really into the subject matter bc the parts that fell most flat were all the #parts not about racing lol the romance subplot was not good lol

I know this right on the tail of my PruAus Week interest poll, but since @fafayayarhen and I were talking about it, how would folks feel about doing a general 'Austria Week' this fall (likely on the week of his birthday)? It would be open to any ships, or lack thereof; just a general week for Austria-related content.

For those following along PruAus Week stuff, I'm likely thinking that for early next year (around Prussia's birthday?). Would that be stretching folks too thin to have both events?

#also I know that possibly to some extent it’s just companies following the trends but it was really lovely to see #the diversity of flags used in like. official company merchandise/displays at the parade #like TJ (tj maxx Marshalls etc) was giving away large reusable grocery bags and I love me an utilitarian merch giveaway #and they have the ace flag agender flag trans flag (and more!) on it which is just kind of neat #and I do kinda consider it separate from what you would’ve seen in Seattle anyway (like with folks walking in the parade or spectating of #course you see a big variety) but paying attention to the merch and displays especially from the bigger corporations was interesting #like yeah yeah gay washing for pride sure yeah to some extent. but also the fact that some of these indentities are at least known enough #now to make it on ‘general’ pride month merch? idk it’s definitely something #it just feels like another marker of how far things have come even in my lifetime #useless post is useless #let’s see what else was of note at the parade #Boeing pulled out this year but BECU (which started as a credit union for Boeing employees) was in it #honest to god the pups and the furries groups were some of the biggest in the parade?? (and again this was a big parade)#I think Seattle Pride either doesn’t allow the SPD to Walk or they choose not to but fire dept there lol #some companies that I didn’t realize had as big of a workforce here as they do?? like Nintendo and the Pokemon Co (separate) were Big #an absolutely gorgeous older Norton motorcycle in the Dykes on Bikes ride #okay this one isn’t pride related but at least up in Shoreline fedex has been rolling out their new EV vans which is pretty neat #oh wait lol just realized Amazon wasn’t in it lollllllllllllllllllllll

Obligatory follow up:

I think overall it was fine, a few comments about how people were dressed or who was in what groups, but I usually just redirected it or just didn’t feed into it. I think the bigger saving grace was that she ended up leaving (it’s a really long parade, it started pretty much on the dot 11 am and last group was at 3:20 pm (we were right at the beginning which was nice)) before most of the stuff I think she would’ve made worse comments about passed (the pups and leather groups and furries and nudists). Also meant I didn’t have to out myself on those things lol. So yeah ended up working out pretty well and glad that I got to attend. C: do love Seattle. <3

This is too long to type into the tags so actual text post we go :x

The Seattle Pride Parade is this Sunday and I'm in a bit of a situation because my friend has brought up a few times the idea of going together. This friend is an older lesbian whose views are sometimes deeply rooted in the era they came up in (which of course makes sense), so sometimes we disagree on things, and at times I struggle with the things that I feel she is not very open minded about. She can also be extremely opinionated and judgy about things, the latter of which is something I really struggle with in our friendship.

Going together would mean a lot to her. She's particularly interested in going this year for a lot of the same reasons I'm interested; it's a year that feels particularly important to Show Up to, and it's nice to have a sense of community during these times. And I think feeling a sense of community would be really good for her in particular right now, as I think she hasn't been as social this year since she had a falling out with one of her closest friends last fall.

But I also want to be able to go to the celebration and enjoy it for the things I want to enjoy. It's Seattle. There will be Pups and kinksters and people in lingerie and bodies on display. There will be sex worker positivity and furries. There will be trans bodies that might not look "one way or another." And I just want to be able to enjoy and participate in all of that without having to deal with her judgements. So I feel a little caught between wanting to protect my own peace and right to enjoy things, and also knowing when it's necessary to step up for someone else.

When I've been thinking about it I'm like, Roshon, you can't assume what will happen, it's not fair. But then like today, it came up and she was talking about all of the reasons she felt it was important this year (not as a pressuring me to go kind of way, but just in general), and then immediately followed it with a kind of disparaging comment about people wearing skimpy things to it lol.

Anyway, I think the most obvious solution is that we go and if she's really making too many comments then I bring it up. Which will probably hurt at the time and be uncomfortable but that's probably the most adult thing to do.
