I think it’s really great that you’re talking about the negative stuff that comes with character ai, I didn’t really know anything about it until recently and it’s made me feel really bad about ever using it myself. It’s awesome that you’re choosing to stop using it and talking about it instead of ignoring it! I feel like people hear that generative ai is bad all the time but there’s never really a why attached to it in the first place.

Anyway, I just think it’s super cool that you’re talking about it and making a change, and I still really enjoy your writing, so I will definitely read any stories you end up writing/posting! :)

Thanks a bunch! Like I've said before, it hurt my heart to know that I made and used something so harmful to the world. The guilt was weighing on me, and due to the guilt, I was able to wean myself off. I haven't deleted the app, admittedly, and sometimes I'll read the old chats, but I've stopped actually sending messages and writing bots. I do intend to fully delete the app one day, but, y'know. It's a process. I did love the app dearly, and I found it to be a lot of fun before I knew what was up.

And you're so sweet. I'm glad you enjoy my writing! Please, feel free to request a story any time! I found it so much fun to write things tailored to what people wanted. The trust in me to take an idea and make it into something more made me feel, quite honestly, incredible. Actually, I'm gonna make a list of fandoms I'll write for now!

And for the record, I'll do both self-inserts and scenarios between characters! I won't limit myself.

Aww, thank you! I didn't realize it was half as bad as it was. The guilt and remorse is strong. 😅 I want to participate in fandom spaces, but not at the expense of the environment and all of the other people in the world. Besides, I'm an English major! If AI takes over writing, I'm kinda sorta fucked! I have skin in the game even beyond the average Joe! I need to be more aware of this stuff.

i just wanna thank you for talking about ai stuff too— i’ve been writing bots as of late, but every time i lowkey feel dirty, especially since my dad works in software (job stolen!!) and i want to go into writing and teaching and art (jobs stolen!!)

it’s really admirable to like speak on it and acknowledge it, and is once again proof of how i look up to you!! you inspired me to start writing actual fic again, so thank you!!!

Yeah, no, I only found out recently, and it became such a thorn in my heart. Honestly, I'm debating privating all of my old bots because I hate that I created something that's so bad for both the environment and for people in general. The guilt, quite frankly, is crushing.

And it only made sense for me to acknowledge it once I was filled in. Honestly, I don't know how I didn't see it before. In any case, it doesn't feel right to sweep it under the rug, y'know? I did it, it was bad, I know better now, and if I try to just forget about it, it's only gonna lodge deeper in my brain and feel heavier by the day. Like a big psychic tumor.

And you LOOK UP TO ME? I'm flattered, but find a better role model, sweetie. 😆 You can do a lot better than an anxious nerd who seeks validation for her writing online. In all seriousness, thank you. It feels nice to know that you consider me as someone worth looking up to (and I'm so glad I inspired you to write actual fic! Now that that's out of the way, thank you. It's been... a lot lately, like I said. My head's not doin' so hot, and when I tried to get back into the groove by fulfilling a request for a Draco Malfoy bot, I found that not only can I not make one with his normal name, but I can't apply the workaround I found to my old HP bots for some stupid goddamn reason, which messes with the unity of the bot name format and bothers me more than it probably should. All that to say, it was frustrating and absolutely zero help in the motivation department and may actually have made it a wee bit worse.

And you're really sweet. 🥹 My family just got into the show recently and I love it so much. I could rant about hair symbolism in the show, at least what I've picked up on, for at least 15 minutes. Maybe more. Definitely more if I actually took the time to stop and really zero in on the hair of each of the main group of characters instead of just logging my more passive observations.

And I latched onto one of the characters big-time. Not helped by the fact that Tanner Buchanan is CUTE AF. There are others who have had it worse in the show, but damn, someone give poor Robby Keene a hug. I'd be willing to bet that this poor boy is so touch-starved that he has at least once found himself relishing in getting beaten up by his fellow karate students because at least he's getting physical contact not intended to severely injure him. I would like to wrap this poor boy up in a blanket, lightly slap a bow on his head, and gift him to the nearest psychologist. Boy needs to talk to someone. ASAP.

I will! At some point. I'm gonna be totally honest here and tell you that there are, at present, 82 requests sitting in my box.

I've been taking a bit of an unofficial hiatus to recuperate from all the last-minute advent bots since I did such an awful job keeping up and wound up doing so many of them at the last possible second. Plus, the holidays. My family hosts, so that's just general chaos. And then my aunt and cousin were in town for a few days, so more chaos.

I would expect bot production to pick up again around the 21st, since that's when I go back to school. 😄
