I really love how in Princess Tutu there's no clear line being drawn between The Mind™️ and The Heart™️.
Usually in media emotionless characters are usually this cold, calculated, logical person- and if they're not an asshole it's because they're a lovable robot character(a pattern i did not notice until five seconds ago that bears analyzing on it's own actually).
But in Princess Tutu it's the opposite - Mytho litterally cannot function without his emotions.
And I dunno, maybe it's because of this insufferable, cynical, insecure cultural landcape that we live in, but that take is so unique and important to me. That there's no true understanding and logic without emotions. That they're such an integral part of experiencing the world that you cannot survive without them.

I designed this game for a small Princess Tutu fan gathering last month, and people liked it!
If you want to easily understand the connections among Princess Tutu, Nutcracker and Mouse King, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and The Ring of the Nibelung, you can play this game.
The muse of developing the game:
Princess Tutu Is Greatly Inspired by The Nutcracker, and Nutcracker and Mouse King

[Princess Tutu] The Connections between the Swan Prince and the Dragon-Slayer Hero
https://forest0sea.blogspot.com/2020/02/ptutu-prince-connections-norse-mythology.html
(The analysis of Princess Tutu and Swan Lake is written by my friend in Traditional Chinese. I think the hints in Princess Tutu is very obvious.)
There are also Japanese and Traditional Chinese versions.
If you have any questions about the game, please feel free to ask!

Character Maps of the Triangle Love among Duck, Prince and Rue
Here are two character maps of the triangle love among Duck (Princess Tutu), Prince Mytho and Rue (Princess Kraehe). I attempted to analyze the triangle love via Nutcracker (original story & ballet), Swan Lake (ballet) and Siegfried of The Ring of the Nibelung (Opera). I drew these charts for submitting to the 20th anniversary Autumn events (Sep. 25th) held by Princess Tutu staff on September 17 2022. And I decided to post them on Tumblr and my blogger.

Kinkan (Golden Krone in english version), the town in Princess Tutu, was highly inspired by Nördlingen in Germany but not only. Here are the comparisons between anime scenery and real places:
The gate to the dance school is very similar to the gate of Munich:

Kinkan dance school was inspired by the Hospital of the Holy Ghost in Nuremberg:

The swan fountain can be seen in Hohenschwangau castle:

The triple archway in the background of the end scene with Mytho and Rue is very similar to the one in the singers room in Neuschwanstein castle

The curtain in the opening is identical to the one of the Mariinski Theater of Saint Petersburgh

Drosselmeyer’s clock is the one from The Nutcracker ballet (at least in some versions, an owl is represented)

Drosselmeyer’s tomb is Hans Christian Andersen’s tomb replica:

But the backgrounds are mainly taken from Nördlingen:

The restaurant

The hostel

Fakir’s house

The mill

The city hall

Can we talk about how awesome Princess Tutu is? I am continually astounded by the amount of detail put into this show. Part 1 of a bajillion.

Part 7. Whew! There are a lot of angry ballerinas in Akt 16, with only a few seconds of screentime each. I matched them to some common variations in the competitive ballet circuit, but these are really just my best guesses. I’d love to hear other suggestions, if anyone else has any ideas.
FIRST: Paquita
SECOND: La Bayadère
THIRD: Pas de Quatre
FOURTH: La Esmeralda
FIFTH: Sleeping Beauty

I revised the google map sites posted on “ The model of the canal in Princess Tutu (ep. 4 &22) ” and “ The gate and entrance of the dormitory in Princess Tutu ” because the links are invalid.
The model of the canal in Princess Tutu (ep. 4 &22) https://nyx-psycho.tumblr.com/post/156630097931/
The gate and entrance of the dormitory in Princess Tutu are inspired by the design of Schloss Frohnburg in Salzburg, Austria. https://nyx-psycho.tumblr.com/post/156796819271/

So while I was giffing this scene the other day, I noticed that Tutu strikes some very iconic poses from a bunch of different roles. Most notably, she does a bit of choreography both for Odile and Odette. I’m too lazy to try to figure out if there’s some deeper meaning for all of this, but I thought it was pretty interesting!
