I'm not a coder or game designer but I do follow a lot of game design channels on youtube so my reccommended list is usually full of random game design stuff. Anyway over the past few days my youtube recommended has been saturated with videos with titles like "Godot basics for Unity developers" and "How to learn Godot if you're used to Unity." Anyone ever think about how one of the major problems with social media (especially tumblr) is all the porn bots, and how we become suspicious of any account that has a conventionally attractive woman as a profile picture, and how the core problem is men’s inability to regulate their sexual desires thus making them a prime candidate for porn bots? Like, we have become knee jerk reactive to any blog run by an attractive woman that follows us because we assume it’s yet another bot, that creates a bit of a sexist situation in which we are setting ourselves up to automatically think negatively about someone who appears to be a woman, and we don’t trust that a woman is a “real woman” and not a bot. But it’s not women’s fault here, it sucks that we would treat a woman new to tumblr poorly because everyone assumes she’s a bot, we’ve made it harder to be a woman in this space. But it’s all because men can’t keep it in their pants. Because men are so damn horny they become gullible and start clicking on ads that promise unrealistic sexual things, if men would stop for ten fucking seconds and stop thinking with their dick long enough to analyze if they are being scammed they wouldn’t fall for the bots over and over and over. And if men stopped interacting with porn bots and clickbait sex ads then the people that run those bots and ads would stop building the bots and find something else to do with their time. Men who click on viagra ads and flirt with porn bots are the root problem that has caused spam and porn bots to take over the internet. Good job men, your unchecked sexual obsession has ruined yet another thing, dumbasses.

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.

For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.

The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.

So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.

Rich is 'arrived by way of their private jet', is 'dropped $500k on a submarine ticket', is '$500 is a rounding error'.

'$500 dollars for a nine day event they must all be rich white people' no you reactionary rotten potato that is actually an entirely reasonable price for an entirely normal person to pay for an annual event! $500 over the course of a year is approximately equivalent to one big takeout a month! Being able to afford that doesn't make you rich it makes you probably not poor! The 'rich or poor' narrative is a false dichotomy that completely excludes the fact that 'richness' or 'poorness' is a SCALE! It's not fucking categorical! You don't one day magically flip a switch and go from 'poor' to 'rich' or vice versa you see incremental changes over time! Wealth distribution is a (these days, admittedly, rather wonky) motherfucking BELL CURVE! . The fact that capitalism is driving more and more people to either extreme of said curve is just evidence of a broken system, but it doesn't change the fact that most people should have a decent amount of disposable income!

The fact that many people don't have said disposable income doesn't magically make the ones that do 'rich' it makes everyone else poor. And the people at fault for the massive and growing percentage of people living below the poverty line are not the ones managing to stay above it, it's the fault of the actually rich, the ones stealing our time and our health and our wages and our future in pursuit of a number on a screen. And the rich are the only people you're helping by hating the people struggling slightly less than you.

When it comes time to 'eat the rich' you're going to be murdering dentists and librarians and scientists while the actually rich point and laugh from a safe distance as you solve their problems for them.

Some days the chronic illnesses stack in just a way that I feel my body slowly decaying around me. It’s a slow decay, I’m pretty sure it’ll be at least twenty more years before this cage rots too much to continue. But I can feel it slowly dying all around me. You know what, fuck it, I don't *want* some frivolous, artisanal, lighter-than-air computer with no customizability, no upgradeability, no reparability, no ports, and a lifetime of *maybe* 3 years if you're lucky. I want a fucking great BEAST of a computer that's designed to last a minimum of 50 years, with ports up the wazoo and optional drives for every kind of media! I want modular components that you can drop in a bog for a year, dry them off, and have them still work fine! I want them to make a noise like "ker-chunk!" when you slide them into place! I want a switch that you pull to turn it on! And I don't want software that constantly forces you to get a pointless, cosmetic "upgrade" every few months either! I want durability! I want longevity! I want satisfying haptics! I want Silicon Valley to go fuck itself!
