BREAKING: Tomi leaves Spotlight Pro; Frontier Still Up in the Air

More shocking developments from Spotlight Productions; inside sources have revealed that Asano Satomi has not only left the ranks of Frontier, but Spotlight Productions as a whole.

After months of inactivity, Spotlight and DS announced in early February that their joint group, Frontier, would be put on indefinite hiatus, claiming that the members wanted to rebrand and practice so they could show a better side of themselves, though many fans speculated that Spotlight was unhappy with the success of the group and wanted to sweep Frontier under the rug so they could try something new. 

After almost two months with no updates, followers of Frontier and Unity were blindsided with surprising news-- not only had Tomi left Frontier and Spotlight, but it soon became clear that she had left South Korea entirely. It is not clear whether or not she is pursuing a career in Japan, but it seems that that is where she is at the current moment. 

Before too many rumors could go flying, Spotlight held a press conference with officials from both DS and KWorks. “This is not the end of Frontier,” a Spotlight official was quoted as saying. “We have a lot of work to do, but the remaining members are determined to make the best of a bad situation, and very much want to show the world what they’ve been working on. This is a setback, but it is not the end.”

“We have a lot of ideas for Frontier, so we ask that fans be patient until we can show them what we are working on,” a DS staff member added. “In order for everyone involved to be satisfied with the end product, it will unfortunately just take us a little longer to work out some kinks.”

When asked about Tomi’s spot in Unity, a KWorks representative addressed the media, “Unity is disbanded. Tomi’s voice will forever be preserved on their later albums, just like Kai’s will forever be preserved on their first. We see no need to add another member to a group that will no longer promote,” and later added, “If there are future reunion stages, we will discuss whether another member will perform her lines, or maybe think about getting someone to stand in, but that is not a priority at the moment.”

Not much else came from the press conference, but insiders confirm that the remaining members of Frontier are indeed training hard, though for what is unclear.

Docking Station came back for it’s second season in full force, their 12th release causing the project’s first all-kill. Featuring trainees from Vagabond companies, Chemical is catchy and does well to showcase all the performers involved. 

Produced by Hyuk and Eda, and choreographed by Fusion’s JB, Track 12 is as bright as the futures of the girls in the song. It is very likely that these girls will get their first win before they even debut.

The track’s parts have been divided as follows:

MIllie will be performing the rest of Haeyeon’s parts.

Jaida will be performing Haru’s part

Kannon will be performing Juju’s part

Mercedes will be performing Taera’s part

BREAKING: KBSDS Teases for First Release of ‘Season Two’

Earlier in the month KBS announced that Docking Station would be back, this time implementing trainees, and we finally have gotten our first teaser. While most fans had guessed that KBS would go by company, that didn’t seem to be the case-- The first lineup is made up of trainees from almost all six companies.

While netizens have tried hard to try to figure out any connection between the trainees, none can be found. Some say that it’s all survival show trainees (MIllie and Jaida haven’t been on any survival shows), and some say it’s the most popular girls (Millie was fairly unknown until the Vagabond Tour). Whatever the reason, fans are excited to see these trainees in action.

The track is to be produced by Hyuk and Eda, and is expected to be released on February 25th.

Only the artists involved, as well as trainers and producers at their companies, are aware of what the track is. It will be kept secret from the public/other artists until it’s release.

BREAKING: Frontier Goes On Indefinite Hiatus

Fans were shocked this morning upon seeing a message from Frontier on their fancafe. The DS-Spotlight joint group debuted in mid 2017, and was made up of former members of Unity. They were met with much success, however since their debut, their promotions have weaned off considerably. While fans were worried, the group’s participation in the Vagabond Tour gave many fans hope.

That hope seems to have been misplaced-- the short message posted this morning stated that the girls wished to show fans a better side of themselves, and that after much consideration, both DS and Spotlight decided to put them on hiatus. The post was accompanied by handwritten messages from all five members, asking fans to cheer up and assuring them that they would be back, and better than ever.

Netizens have been speculating about the reasoning behind the hiatus. Some fans theorized that perhaps the companies were upset with Frontier’s numbers-- while they have met success, they haven’t been nearly as successful as other rookie groups, like Heirs and Halo. Others wonder if perhaps there is member infighting, or maybe this means a permanent Unity reunion-- that last one being more unlikely, with Ginny’s recent debut taken into consideration. Some wonder if maybe the rivalry is too much, and DS and Spotlight couldn’t reach an agreement and are withdrawing the girls to debut their own groups, under only one company instead.

The most popular theory is that DS and Spotlight want to rebrand, giving Frontier a new concept, and maybe adding more members-- perhaps popular trainees featured on Idol Project Season 3. Whatever it is, fans all agree that it doesn’t bode well, despite reassurances from the girls and the companies.

BREAKING: Docking Station to Continue Later This Month With a Twist

With KBS as one of the main sponsors and organizers of the Vagabond Tour, many netizens theorized that perhaps it meant the end of KBS Docking Station-- Vagabond Tour was the grand finale for a year-long project that produced great songs from artists from all companies collaborating. 

That theory, however, proved to be false. Early this morning, KBS had a press conference, in which they announced that they are planning some big things in the future, some of them to do with Docking Station. With the first release of “Season Two” of Docking Station set to drop on February 21st, KBS officials disclosed that the first half of 2018 releases will feature trainees. 

Starring members of trainee groups like DS Rookies and Team Hera, KBS hopes to help companies promote their future stars by giving them a platform to show that they’ve got. KBS did not reveal which company’s trainees would be up first, however they promised that all companies would get equal amounts of exposure.

BREAKING: Spotlight Productions Updates Fans on Athena

Fans across the world were surprised in September, when it was announced that Athena had married Producer and Rapper Andrew Woo and was expecting a child later in the year. While she performed for much of the Vagabond Tour, she took her “maternity leave” during the US leg of the tour, and her son was born during the European leg.

Andrew and Athena have been very open so far, sharing pictures of baby Gabriel online, as well as participating in the Vagabond Tour finale in Seoul, but the family has been quiet since then, and fans of the singer expressed a lot of concerns regarding Athena and the future of her career.

Spotlight Productions released a statement for fans today, along with a handwritten note from Lucille Woo, stating that she will not be retiring yet. While she will be spending the next year or so with her son, she plans on returning to the stage eventually.

JUST IN: Vagabond Companies Start Production Back Up

While the world has gotten their chance to see their favorite groups and idols up close thanks to the Vagabond Tour, fans back in Korea have been at a loss. While their stars went travelling, no new music was released (save for a few songs). That has left an opening for a lot of new groups from smaller companies to make their mark, with a lot of groups getting their first win in the absence of some music-chart titans, but netizens still missed new releases from some of Kpop’s biggest name.

They need not wait much longer-- earlier today, the big three companies told Dispatch representatives that production has begun again on new music, and that comebacks will begin in early February. KBS has confirmed that Alpha, 360 and Gaia are working on new releases at well.

It seems fans must only be patient for a little bit longer-- starting with a Hydra comeback at the end of this week, with regular schedules starting back up after that.
