Strawbunny ( Luffy x DVa ) Yap Session

With the subject of Hana’s trauma on my mind, I can’t help but to think about her relationship with Luffy. I’m sorry - I don’t mean to make everything about a ship, it’s just that I’m the only one who talks about them, so it kind of feels like my responsibility to talk about these things. 😭🥀

Anyway, if Hana were transported to the One Piece world, I genuinely believe she’d be doing everything in her power to get back home as soon as possible. She barely allows herself to live as it is - so the idea of being stuck in an entirely different dimension, while her home is left ‘undefended,’ would feel unbearable to her.

With the Straw Hats, I think she’d get along with them fairly well. She’d fit in. But there’d still be a voice lingering in the back of her mind - taunting her, questioning whether or not she deserves to be happy here. Because while she’s here, who’s defending Korea? Are the Gwishin attacking while she’s gone? Is her team holding up without her? What if they aren’t?

What if they were defeated, and she was here? Laughing, smiling, and having fun with people she feels she has no right to be close to?

She needs to go home.

She doesn’t deserve this.

And that’s where I think Luffy would be good for her. Not in the sense that she needs saving - but maybe she just needs someone to remind her that she matters. That her life is worth more than what she’s reduced it to in her own mind.

She’s said before, especially in her interactions with Mei, that she wants to travel. And she does travel, sure, but mostly for work. For publicity. Never just because she wants to.

So when she and Luffy talk, when he tells her about all the places he’s been, about a world so different from her own, so vast and beautiful - she feels it. She’s envious. He’s free. Not in a shallow or simple way, but truly, unapologetically free.

She loves what she does, sure. She wants to protect her home and her people. But sometimes she just feels trapped. Like she’s outgrown the small, suffocating space she’s trying so hard to fold herself into.

And I really believe Luffy would see it. See how hard she pushes herself. How hard she is on herself. How she barely sleeps and sometimes forgets to eat - not because she’s trying to, but because she’s just so busy.

The nightmares don’t stop. She wakes up gasping, sweat coating her brow, heart racing. The scar on her back aches. No one on the crew has seen it - any clothes Nami lends her cover enough of it that it’s easy to hide. She’s careful. Not because she thinks it’s ugly or shameful. She just doesn’t want to talk about it. Doesn’t want to bring up bad memories.

But when Luffy finds her one night - standing on the deck, nails digging into the railing as she stares into the black water - he’s curious.

Still his cheerful self, he doesn’t catch right away that she’s spiraling. He laughs and asks what she’s doing out so late, so alone. And it snaps Hana back to reality. She smiles, like she always does. The mask. D.Va.

But Luffy sees right through it. Instantly. Just like he did with Nami. With Robin. With Sanji. They all tried to hide it. Pretended they were fine, tried to deal with things on their own.

And it’s happened three times before.

He’s not going to let it happen again.

This is already so long tho omg maybe I’ll yap some more about them but this is all I’ve got. 😭🥀
