“Gaomon, I will buy you any ice cream you want from that nice ice cream shop in the city if you don’t tell anyone, especially Thomas, about that,” Yoshi quickly answered in place of actually answering his questions. She knew she was going to have to tell Thomas about it eventually anyway, she just didn’t want to get in trouble for it.

“That’s her,” Lalamon answered Daigo. “She said some things that really didn’t sit well with Yoshi.”

“Lalamon…” She was getting fairly annoyed at her partner. She sighed. “I don’t like the idea of some strange agency knowing about us, and not helping us,” she muttered.

“…Wait, you said Chosen Children. You mean like Daisuke Motomiya and his friends?” Great, there was another secret out. She was really going to have to go all out buying ice cream for Gaomon at this rate. “And a Distortion leading to the Digital World? …What exactly is going on?”

Gaomon’s ears perked up at the offer. Thomas rarely let him have ice cream, he always said it was ‘unhealthy.’ It was tempting...but the Digimon’s eyes narrowed when Yoshi mentioned the Chosen Children.

“Shouldn’t Thomas know about this? Who are these Chosen Children? Do they work for DATS?” Why was Yoshi so desperate to keep all of this a secret?

“You met Hime-chan... How long ago? Was it recently?” Daigo doubted Himekawa had been in contact with DATS after disappearing, but he had to ask. He was running out of places to look for her. 

Wait, Yoshi knew Motomiya? Maybe that was why Himekawa had talked to her. Daigo didn’t approve of it, but Himekawa had insisted that they keep Motomiya’s disappearance a secret. 

“...Yes,” he replied. He wasn’t sure how much Yoshi knew, or how much he should give away. He was tired of keeping secrets, but the DATS agents were different from the Chosen Children, and Taichi’s group was handling the situation with Meicoomon.

“There was a Digimon with a virus. It’s been infecting other Digimon, but it should be okay now. The Chosen Children are dealing with it.”

Great, so he was one of them. She didn’t trust them one bit. She didn’t like the idea of these people knowing everything about her and Lalamon. Plus there was still the distrust and bitterness of why they didn’t try to help with the situations with Kurata and the Royal Knights… Not to mention why there were other kids that got to have Digimon that weren’t being forced to join DATS like she was…

“I see,” was all she managed to say to his explanation. “Yes, I am. It’s nice to meet you, too.”

“Please forgive Yoshi,” Lalamon chimed in. “She’s usually more talkative and friendly. We’ve met someone from your bureau before, so I think she’s just a little less than happy to hear about it again.”

“Lalamon, hush,” she hissed, glaring at her partner. “What else do you know about us? And what were you doing in the Digital World? How did you get there, and how did you get hurt?” She couldn’t let her distrust stop her from finding out what she needed to, at least. She was involved in this, so she had to find out whatever she could.

“You’ve met one of us before...?”

“It’s the first I’ve heard about it,” Gaomon muttered, glancing at Yoshi and Lalamon. “When was this? Have you told anyone else about it?”

“Was it Himekawa-san!?” Daigo tried to sit up, only to cry out as pain shot through his body. He closed his eyes, forcing himself to relax again, and let out a sigh.

He didn’t want to answer all of her questions, but she wouldn’t trust him if he didn’t.

“There was a fight, and one of the Digimon opened a Distortion leading to the Digital World. I wanted to help, so I followed the Chosen Children without thinking. I got hurt protecting them.” It was stupid, but he didn’t regret it. Their lives were more important than his.

“We have records on everyone working for DATS, and every encounter you’ve had with a Digimon. That’s all.”
