Nameless-The One Thing You Must Recall: Lance’s Route
Warning: Spoilers ahead
Alright so today I finished Lance’s route on Nameless and it took me about six hours in total or so.
I want to start off by saying it’s a really good game overall but at times it can drone on with some unnecessary things. Definitely worth the thirty dollars though, it took me six hours to bear Lance’s route and there are four other doll routes I have to complete.
So a quick rundown on the game, you place as Eri (or whatever name you chose) who’s parents travel out of state a lot, leaving her living in Korea with her Grandpa. Soon though her grandpa dies, but she insists on finishing school in Korea. Since her grandpa died she lives alone in the old house with a collection of five ball joint dolls (Lance, Tei, Yeonho, Yuri, and Red). It isn’t until one night she wakes up to find her dolls have come to life that the story really kicks up.
All the character designs are really thought out and consistent, the colors for the most part are neutral and easy to look at. The game ran smoothly and had little to no obscure game play features that made things confusing or tedious (unlike games such as Blood Code but I’ll mention that some other time).
Lance was Eri’s first ever ball joint doll and my first ever route in the game. I’m going to be entirely honest, from this route alone I’m probably going to play through all the routes. Lance was a doll that’s personality is based off what the owner wants him to be like, unlike the other dolls who have a set personality.
This can really be seen in his character as he’s shown having anxiety about being forgotten and the fact he’s mass produced. He shows some sense of inferiority over the other dolls but masks it with an icy attitude. Throughout the route you battle his distant personality, his anxieties, and finally near the end of the route his fears of losing you. As time goes own he becomes more possessive and affectionate, the usual thing seen with outwardly cold characters, and by the end of the story he’s an affectionate boyfriend who Eri is more than happy to spend her time with.
Overall I had a lot of fun playing the game and this route in particular, while there were a few options that were a little confused as to what they meant or were far too vague to figure out the personality type they gave off, overall it was pleasant and smooth playing.
I really do think this is a game worth your time and money and Lance is probably one of the better characters for game introduction as it gives a lot of backstory to Eri’s past (since he was bought before her grandfather past) and helps you understand who you’re playing as a lot better.
