Revisiting the ‘early’ universe (380000 years after the Big Bang) for uni, when violent collisions caused by the energy of the radiation and the individual particles is so great, that protons are separated from neutrons, breaking-up nuclei. The light in the universe is not on the visible spectrum, and it is energetic enough to be x-rays and gamma rays.

Looking at identifying and dating pollen from soil core samples to find out when different plant and tree species existed. The age of the soil in a sample is determined using radiocarbon dating, and the pollen in the sample is used to establish the presence of a species. The DNA of existing plants alive today is used to look at how closely related species in different locations are, and how far they have travelled over time. Ancient pollen, and DNA from plants today, are used to look at ancient ecology 🌿🌍 Image from the OU

Charge particles in a cloud chamber experiment - Harvard Natural Sciences Lecture Demonstrations
“The trajectories of individual charged particles leave behind cloudy trails as they ionize the cooled, supersaturated air-alcohol vapor inside this diffusion cloud chamber. Alpha particles from the radioactive decay of an inserted 2% thorium alloy rod form dense condensation trails nearby.”

Photo by @johnstanmeyer / After a day of work in Dhuburi, a worker disembarks on the shoreline of the Brahmaputra River, bringing supplies to his village of Gauripur, located about an hour by ferry from Dhuburi, in Assam State, India. It's from my latest story in @natgeo magazine, "Water Everywhere, and Nowhere," in the August 2020 issue. @outofedenwalk #walkingindia #edenwalk #india #assam #dhuburi

The Micronesians were skilled sailors and navigators. For frequent, two-way journeys, they made navigation charts like this, with small stones and shells indicating islands and sticks to show the routes and ocean currents. From the book "Pacific voyages", 1973

Haus Rucker, Oasis No.7, 1970. "Haus-Rucker-Co’s radical architectural practice in the late 1960s and 1970s encompassed the use of spectacular inflatable environments, futuristic technological prosthetics, and engaging urban interventions to expand artistic boundaries. The collective’s air-inflated architecture and wearable appendages were designed to alter participants’ social and perceptual experiences."
