Clearing up something that no person on this planet has given a shit about since approximately 2012:

G.U.N isn't mistaking Sonic for Shadow in Sonic Adventure 2, they're fucking framing him.

like it's a subtle bit of storytelling, it's not explicit stated as far as i remember. But it's there.

for some reason everyone just takes sonic's word for it when he says this, and then they get really confused because sonic and shadow barely look alike.

But if you think about it for like 5 seconds, sonic is the least qualified person in the story to make this assessment, he doesn't know shit about project S.H.A.D.O.W, he doesn't know who shadow is or anything like that.

the military knows literally of this though, they know EXACTLY what shadow is because they've been keeping him a secret, frozen in their basement for 50 fucking years.

Then suddenly he breaks out and does so many crimes it's insane, and if word got out about this top secret government project they killed an entire space colony full of people to get their hands on, they'd be fucked, they don't want that to happen, so they throw their hands up and go "uhh it's probably this blue fucker who runs fast and does ecoterrorism. it's that guy who did all those crimes and we need to arrest him and kill him probably, please for the love of god don't look up what happened on the ark"

basically sonic's wrong as shit and sometimes in stories characters say things that aren't true because they don't know better

if you'll allow me to be a weirdo who gives far more weight to the narrative element of these children's video games where funny cartoon animals jump around, sometimes you gotta read between the lines

a common misconception I hear is that, while Silver's cuffs in 06 are meant to be closed by default and only open when his powers are in use, they dont have any actual animation for it and are just model swaps/snaps. this is not the case!

not only are Silver's cuffs fully rigged in his in-game model

but you can actually see them open in-game in cutscenes, completely animated!

(scene slowed down for effect) its just that the camera moves so quickly that its hard to see!

(this is also why I draw Silver with his cuffs closed when his powers arent in use, and why theres the option to open and close them in my dress-up game <3)

the part in rhythm and balance where the lyrics are "shadow don't make me upset // i don't wanna hear you." that part is my everything. and i want it to be actual words that maria said to him at some point, in a context that isn't pretty nor makes them somehow feel more okay when you know it. i want those words to be fueled by something unkind and impatient and frustrated, and i want them to have left such a mark on shadow, a being created for maria's sake, that he recalls them clearly 50 years later and after having his memories fucked with. you don't want to upset your sister lest you fail at the one thing you were created to excel at. you don't want to argue back at her. you are hers and hers only and you should be acting the part

i find espio so endearing. on the surface hes so cool but hes just some guy and is awkward as hell. he spends his time hanging out with fellow broke weirdos. hes a ninja and stealthy boy with great mental health (soothing presence for others because he's self-assured and people can tell intuitively it's not an act) but also hes first and foremost some guy. he has a comically deep voice. he has a heart on his chest and he has super cool epic chameleon features. AND hes purple isnt that awesome hes so purple
