I don't remember the source exactly, there was an account on Instagram that used to post Jason pics (and people believed that this was Jason's account but Paul Sheer confirmed it wasn't)

The bit that stuck with me the most regarding TCOTD previews is Mr.D wanting to help the campers with their stress, PTSD, etc. It made me so happy and it feels so rewarding for his character.

How did you manage to find your art-style?

Hi!

Oh this is an interesting question ! Long text incoming , sorry for that!

I think what helped me out a lot is using other artists as reference, the best way to find an art style is to study other artists and basically take stuff you like from their styles, combine it and practice it!

Please note this doesn't mean to "steal" someone's art style , it means that you take 3-4 things that you like and perfect it based on what you want to do. I say this because if you focus too much on being like someone else, in your style to be exactly the same and as good as another artist, it will end up frustrating you. So focus on just a few things, focus on what you like about it and transform it into something that feels like you.

It won't come out that good at the beginning as it is something new that you aren't used to do, but the idea is to draw more and more using this artistic style to perfect it.

Here is a comparison of an old drawing where I was just starting to practice more shape-y art vs the redraw of it that I did a few months ago:

The idea when you take some stuff from other artists is to focus on main things such as face features (Eye , nose, ears, etc) and external details such as color and lineart.

You need to ask yourself how do you want to draw these things singularly before drawing them together , it helps a lot when you are first trying a certain style, to analyze a little what you aren't liking about it!

For example: When I first started drawing PJO art 2 ys ago, I was really into drawing more sketchy art, my sketches were a little rough , not focusing too much on anatomy (because I suck at it hehe), but I had this huge problem that I was scared to play with colors and all my drawings were really dull and almost looked the same:

I stuck with this for moooonths but this made me dislike my art for some time until like May 2024 where I said no more and started to focus in more brighter colors and cleaner lineart

I switched to focus more on lineart because I really like to draw it, it's honestly one of my fav things while drawing something and it is relaxing for me, so my main focus was that, enjoying what I was doing and being more satisfied with the result due to it.

Again I used a lot of other artists as reference to get this one

Up until this point, I am still using the same art-style , I decided lately to use the chromatic aberration effect to add a little something in my art and I liked how it turned out.

I am not trying to talk a lot abt myself here but all of this was a long 2 year process, so I am basically just trying to say that one has to be patient while looking for an art-style

Art-styles don't come out perfect the first time and one has to little by little take, combine, dismantle, change, all that stuff until you have something that makes you audibly say " THIS IS IT" , and even then, it may happen that after a while you don't like it and want to change again, and that's okay!! You don't have to have only one art style if you don't want to!

But yeah, hope this bible helped out in something but if you want a summary:

Basically just take stuff you like from other art-styles without stealing the whole art , combine them and take your time with the process, don't rush it and enjoy!

a/n: this was very specifically inspired by @owlch333's art of ariadne and dionysus, so big shout to them for motivating me into the first personal writing i've done in months

“Mom’s here” isn’t exactly the phrase a kid wants to hear on a random Thursday at Camp Half-Blood. Regardless of who your godly parent was, it was a sentence that seemed ripe for disaster any way you sliced it. No matter the threat of deadly monsters, the sudden appearance from a parent was enough to make any demigod’s blood run cold.

But, fresh out of training, it was what Percy was stuck with nonetheless.
