I need some Cleo lore in the HS au.

Divorce? hell yeah, I eat that shit up. How long ago? Was it recent or have they been divorced a while?

How did the co-parenting (or lack thereof?) come to be? Or are they still figuring that out?

the divorce is recent! they moved on the brink of it, needing to separate from etho and all that environment. it's how scar became grian's neighbour and started attending the new school. everything's still kind of freshly in progress at this time, so scar's coming to terms with it all and dealing with having to pick between his parents, that kind of stuff.

cleo's always been the one to care about scar's health, taking him to appointments and whatnot. she knows more about his condition than etho, so even just on the basis of that, she's the more reasonable choice. but it still feels bad, having to pick, having to voice it out loud, basically "rejecting" the other parent in the process.

the whole deal with co-parenting is still being figured out. the divorce isn't even fully finalised at the start of the story; there are lawyers, and papers, and decisions to be made, things to be arranged.

etho shows up sometimes, but not a lot; he's mostly absent. he tried to bribe scar with some gifts and occasional quality time when the question of "preferred parent" was raised, but more often than not, he'd disappear and not care for days, leaving scar with whiplash and a fragmented sense of worth, a confused sense of what love is meant to look like. wondering why it's so easy for someone who claims to love him to abandon him without warning, over and over again.

unlike scar, bdubs has no health constraints to take into consideration, and moreover, he doesn't even live at home anymore. he's always preferred etho anyway, which just brings further clashes whenever he visits home.

I realise you might have some ideas already about how you wanna tell this story, so you don't need to answer everything I ask. I will however, still ask more about the HS AU. And you can answetr as you see fit.

How long have Grian/Scar known eachother? Are they like, childhood friends, or did they only recently start connecting? What's the history?

What kinda rumours about the bad boys are we talking about here?

Does Scar believe any of these rumours?

Are Scar and Grian already together when we jump into the story?

oh i don't have prepared anything right now, questions work! here's some answers for you!

the au starts with scar moving in as grian's neighbour, so they don't know each other at all at the start! just two differently troubled kids. (that being said, some character backstories like joel and jimmy have been thought out; but this is where the story itself starts)

what kind of bad boy rumours? just the usual lot, about them being troublemakers, about them getting in fights all the time. even some rumours about them bullying teachers/staff. just generally bad news, rotten apples, stay away kind of thing! joel got them all leather jackets, which doesn't help the image, especially coupled with the fact that grian often shows up with scrapes or bruises and joel is... joel.

at the start, scar quite honestly isn't sure what to think! he first meets grian, and then gets to the school where he discovers that grian's allegedly bad. it's confusing to him. from the brief interactions he's had, grian doesn't seem like that? but also, scar does see some things that seem to concerningly line up...
