Made my first tarot spread post! Also works with oracle cards.

This is a spread to help you strengthen your overall magical abilities by understanding your weaknesses and how to use your strengths to develop them.

1 - where magic is weakest. This is an area that you may struggle with or haven’t realized your potential in. Reversals may mean that you are expending energy in that area, but towards others and not yourself.

2 - where to look for inspiration. Look to this place to see how you can work with your weaknesses and understand them better.

3 - where magic is strongest. This is your shit! You’ve got this down, you understand your abilities and utilize them in a healthy, effective way. Go you!

4 - how to cultivate weakest areas using strengths. This will guide you in applying your strengths to develop your weaknesses. Slightly different from the second card, this one will show you how you can actively use what you already know.

Everything is laying on a piece of moss in a tin box that I painted white!

I really want to design a tarot deck for the witches of tumblr to use, but I don't practice divination (i'm mostly a sigil witch) and don't even know what the cards are, I've looked it up and I've gotten lots of different results. Do you have a specific page you can direct me to to find out more about tarot decks and the cards? (My witchy side blog is cerebral-endurance)

I do! Sorry for the late reply. The thing with tarot is that while yes, the cards do have universal meaning, each deck presents it differently. And each person interprets the card differently. So there’s nothing wrong with going for a bit of the information you find mixed with your own intuition!

Biddy Tarot is great for getting an impression of all of the cards when you need them for reference. Here is an example of one of its card descriptions. This is a great introduction video to tarot. The only bit I don’t agree with 100% is the part on questions, but she has a good point. I think that for what you want to do, this is probably enough information. But honestly it’s a bit of a struggle to make a deck when you aren’t already comfortable.

If you want to dig a bit deeper than that then this masterpost has a lot of information. Also I find youtubers really useful in tarot! So many youtube people have mini courses in Tarot, and these are a few of my favourite channels.

For the past week, I have been feeling particularly horrible about my life and the idea of not having it “all together” like some of the members of my family. I was at this low point where I was doing daily negative self-talk in the mirror and I knew I had to do something about it. After using this spread, I changed my mindset and realized that we all have things in our lives that are not perfectly in order or things we are still trying to figure out. This is how the You Are Not The Only One Tarot spread came to be.

Position One: How can I accept my humanity? This position helps to remind you that you are not perfect and that is okay.

Position Two: What can I do to stop the negative self-talk? This position brings forth one way that you can stop talking negatively to yourself when you feel that your life isn’t how you want it to be.

Position Three: How can I stop comparing my life to others? This position showcases advice on how you can appreciate the life you do have instead of playing a game of comparison with everyone else.

Position Four: How can I move forward, accepting that I am not the only one who doesn’t have their life “all together”? This position reinforces the idea that none of us have it all together, all the time, and how you can gain comfort in knowing you are not the only one who feels that way.

Position Five: How can I embrace my progress in life without feeling shame or guilt? This last position helps you refocus your energy on all that you can be proud of in your life without feeling guilty or ashamed.

Created my own spread today - the broom spread - it’s advice on how best to improve my craft / path as a witch. 

What parts of myself should I work on

How to best connect with spirit/energy 

How to best connect with XXX (in my case, as an earth witch, the earth)

1st skill or personal quality to hone 

2nd skill or personal quality to hone 

3rd skill or personal quality to hone

In my case, the part about myself I need to work on is quite literally my craft - to become a better witch I need to keep practicing and developing my skills. To best connect to the energies around me, I must remain determined and focused on my goals and what I want to achieve. I need to stop seeking approval from others and focus on my own journey. To connect with the earth, I simply need to do what was instructed above and be open to the peace and harmony it brings to me. I will be connected to the earth by virtue of wanting to be and working towards it. The three skills or personal qualities I need to hone are, first, taking things as they come and embracing the changes as they happen without forcing it or resisting it. In general, just going with the flow. Secondly, I need to work on my confidence (particularly when it comes to tarot reading) and build a better relationship to my craft by focusing on myself and believing in my abilities. Don’t be afraid to fail, that’s part of the journey to success. Lastly, I need to continually seek the truth and clear my mind - whether that be through meditation or mindful thinking - and allow the energy to flow through me. When I do, my creativity and intuition will shine through.

Hey Everyone! With October quickly arriving, I thought that I’d try my hand at creating a 31 day challenge. I’ve always wanted to make one of these and I thought that now would be the perfect time! This challenge features prompts based on spooky witchcraft! You can answer in any way you like, such as a blog, photo, sketch, spell creation… 

Whilst I’ve made this for the month of October it can be started at any time and you don’t have to complete all of it. Your way of learning Tarot is valid. You are not any less of a Tarot reader if you learn by memorizing Tarot card meanings or only read Tarot intuitively. You are no less of a Tarot reader if you choose not to read reversal cards. You are no less of a Tarot reader if your first deck is not a Rider Waite Smith deck or one of its clones. You are valid if you create Tarot cheat sheets to help you understand Tarot. You are valid if you taught yourself Tarot. You are valid even if you still use the little white book or another guidebook. You are valid if you only have access to virtual and mobile tarot decks and applications to practice. You are valid if you only stick to one Tarot spread. You are valid if you do not use any Tarot spreads. You are valid if you use YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram and other forms of social media as your Tarot study group and online journal. You are still valid even if your Tarot practice and learning style is different from everyone else. You are valid with or without a Tarot certification. You are not any less of a Tarot reader because your way of learning Tarot and the tools you use are ones you have adapted and created yourself. We all learn differently and that is perfectly okay!
