it’s so funny to me how shocked murph is that hardwon tries to get the teleporter to work as soon as he hears moonshine is in trouble. like dude, it’s hardwon surefoot. this has always been who he is. your plan absolutely worked but it almost worked too well because she stubs her toe and he comes running. actual danger to her life?? of course he’s about to try to invent new magic.

Relistening to campaign 1 and its Short Rests ignites a deep admiration for Brian Murphy.

The story is so seamless. Everything is connected. The wider plot is affected by PCs’ smaller trials and tribulations.

But the story was being written with each episode.

Jake didn’t have any ideas about Hardwon’s relationship with Gemma.

Emily only went as far as knowing Moonshine found the High Elves snooty and arrogant.

Caldwell had imagined Beverly’s dad would be a stern, closed off man.

Balnor was just a random knight that was randomly picked from the Deck of Many Things.

If anyone wants to know how to create a campaign with a rich story, just listen to NADDPOD.

The dual-storytelling between Murph, Jake, Emily, and Caldwell is impressive.

some of the gifts from the elemental titans - moonshine’s water breathing, hardwon’s armor class, beverly’s fire resistance - are permanent. and come up often enough during the run of the show that you almost forget where they’re from.

cobb’s gift from the elemental - one we don’t see nearly as often - was a +10 to movement.

which isn’t a lot, especially when it comes to an npc’s stat block.

however, when you remember that his final act alive was running, sprinting, “as far as [his] ol’ legs can run” to bring gruumsh’s soldiers away from hardwon’s unconscious form, saving his life?

then it’s everything.
