A lot of people really should not be weighing in on the Beyonce discourse because it's displaying a great deal of ignorance about both Native and Black people.
I suggest giving "An Afro-Indigenous History of the United States" by Kyle Mays a read because it provides a good framework with historical examples. It even has specific examples of Black celebrities perpetuating anti-Native racism and respectful ways to address these conversations.
"What Beyonce did was not okay and directly needs to unambiguously be called anti-Native racism" and "Many non-Black people react with hostility and Anti-Black sentiments even in critiquing her" can both exist simultaneously.
I really need some of y'all to not jump in on this conversation and drop their hot take (that most of the time will end up being Anti-Black, Anti-Native or most likely both) unless they're in meaningful community with both Native and Black people to respectfully navigate this conversation.

you cannot talk about the homophobic murder of jonathan joss without including in the conversation that he is indigenous.
american indian men are at the 2nd highest risk of death by murder compared to all other ethnic groups. in their lifetimes, 82% of native men report having experienced domestic violence. yet the overwhelming majority of perpetrators are non-natives (88% of native men and 92% of native women who reported violence said their attacker was non-native). what’s more, tribal governments are often stymied in their attempts to bring justice against non-natives, meaning that many of these cases go unresolved.
this was an intersectional attack. the fact that he is indigenous matters, even if the motivation was homophobic, because it made him even more vulnerable and disposable in the eyes of his killer.
as always, look into MMIWP to learn more, and speak up for us. miigwetch, take care

Since pride and juneteenth is coming around the corner it would be great to help out a queer-ace, job searching, and work-study dependent Black woman to help pay half her rent by 15th of June that marks the leasing office to officially evict me, to continue both on and offline activism and volunteering for her grassroots organization and community mutual aid and support for Gaza, Congo, and Sudan and domestically.
I honestly been contemplating on whether or not to write this, because I know I am trying to help both on and off-line lives in unimaginable circumstances and need the aid more than I do. But I also know that I can't help others while not having the support I need to continue my part in social justice and supporting my community.
I only have partially been able to pay rent and my work-study job is inactive for summer while job-searching and don't what the future lies since the current U.S. administration defunded the Department of Education while to pursue my art career and grassroots work so while I'm at it I might as well reach out. Below is my goal before June 15th, my paypal tag, and five of my mutuals that I will tag below.

Goal 0/$580

I Am Not Your Asian American Doll: a comic for AAPI Heritage Month 2023
I usually spend a lot of time editing and fine-tuning my comics so that they come across as polite and inoffensive. But honestly, I’m really tired of the way Asian cultures and countries are treated / talked about while Asian people themselves are excluded, and thought it was about time I really let my rage out lol.

Oh, I didn't know anything about this... Ew. I just knew of her from Girl Meets World and for "Can't Blame a Girl for Trying" 😭
I have mixed feelings when I see Sabrina Carpenter. Because like, objectively, she's a gorgeous lady. I do love seeing her. Pretty hair, pretty smile, jaw dropping fashion- I'm a huge fan of glitter and pin up. And while her music isn't my thing, I support her happiness and her career. I have absolutely nothing against her as a person. But on the other hand, I don't feel like looking at the prime example of Aryan Perfection anymore lmao like oh yes, blonde, blue eyes, bubbly, someone's 1950s fantasy, this era's attempt at Marilyn. We get it.

Idk who needs to hear this but we aren’t here to cosplay as our ancestors. Thank them and remember them but LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE.
If something is not resonating with you at all or is no longer resonating with you after some time, then walk away.
Don’t force yourself into something that’s not for you, there’s no point in bothering with it if your heart ain’t in it.

Simple and Powerful Prayers That Really Work:
1. “May I do what is best for me with ease.”
2. “Send me elders/mentors/friends/colleagues that are meant for my highest good and in alignment with my destiny.”
3. “May my roads be open, and my mind be wise.”
Pray them every day like you really meant it. Pray to your Ancestors or whatever deities you serve. Watch how quickly things move.

like the return of the r slur and horrible fatphobia and gay jokes and the misogyny oh my fucking god can we talk about the misogyny. we have culturally regressed to the eary 2010s but when you try to call people out they’re liek ohhh it’s just a joke 😂. i’m sorry but i don’t want to hear jokes about pedophilia or about rape or about racism that is not funny and it never will be. everything is ironic and if you get offended it’s cuz you’re a crazy femnazi who cares too much. because it’s apparently uncool to take anything serious or do anything with actual sincerity anymore
#last month heard some white dudes at my university joking about title 9 being removed...#and a Youtube comedian i haven't watched in a while made a Chris Benet joke...#chris benoit#also please stop making suicide jokes in public. that might be someone's final straw

TIL that Binet, the creator of what we know as the IQ, actually did it with the intent of gauging where kids with special needs could use more guidance, and not as a measure of finite intelligence or limit.
And that his work was bastardized for racist, social, and political intent by- you guessed it- white scientists in the U S of A. Just couldn't help themselves, huh.
#hope that kid learns from this experience because... the only dickhead is *them*#sterilization#eugenics#united States#iq test is ableist and racist

given all the rising transphobia and shit, we should remember that white trannies are still relatively safe and will be able to endure more escalation more easily, we're not at the top of any shit list even if we near if, trans women of color however are very vulnerable, and we need to remember they're our sisters, not our shields
