I've never known a heartbreak so deep. For months I have been preparing myself for Shyann and her family to move away. Over the 5 years, since shortly after they adopted her, I have been with them helping to raise Shyann. I had grown attached and they are my family. On Monday and Tuesday I sat by her side trying to get her feeling better while her family packed up her things to take her to her new house on Wednesday. But that trip never came. Wednesday April 20th, Shyann Nicole passed away in her sleep. Being sick was too much for her little body who had struggled for 11 years. I miss her more than anything. I am forever grateful to her family who I will remain a part of, they let me love her like she were my own because they knew she needed it. Perhaps I needed it even more.
