if this sounds extreme thats because it is. i have been by hatsune mikus side since i was fucking 11 okay. she is a sister to me. business owners are crazy but the autism makes me crazier. i can feel the dragon energy running through me i will not stand for this

they removed the project diva future tones from my local arcade and they happened to be the only project divas in the entire state. I would have to drive 6 hours to play project diva now. I EXPLICTLY went in there with the intention to play Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Arcade Future Tone (2013) (this is the reason i started regularly going to this arcade in the first place) and this is what I am greeted with (no project divas) (they were gone) (they had some stupid fruit ninja clone in their rightful place) (found them in pieces against the back walls) (they still worked) (someone was camping on them last week) (they still made money). you can tell how serious this is because i am making a tumblr post about it which I never do.

this combined with the Fucking TV instead of an actual hologram at miku expo for the 10th anniversary..... it is a dark fucking couple months for the state of hatsune miku. project this summer is to diy an arcade cabinet. or to go dumpster diving if they threw them out. im so sneefious scoob im gonna eat sheet metal

15 bucks for new belts. I hate spending money so bad -_-

tape deck does not work :( but that just means I get to post more about it :)

as expected the belts on the inside are completely obliterated. interestingly, instead of flaking off like they did in my dad's double tape deck, these ones turned to fucking Goop and Ooze and Slutch.

the gear you see in the middle that has the goop coming off of it is what turns the little spokes that turn the tape reels so it can be read. the thing that melted to smithereens is the belt that connects it to the motor, hence why it won't spin the cassettes. the same belt was melted on both sides so I'm just showing one for convenience.

^ that's me after touching it for like two seconds. it got so so so much worse than this while I was trying to clean it up. this shit would immediately transfer to anything I touched it was like I was in a young tween's edgy vent amv from 2015. I also had just finished servicing the dryer right before I started this, so it got all up in the fucking microscopic cuts on my hands and hurt like a bitch when i had to use acetone to clean it off (soap was Not Working)

but! despite it all it is clean now. all that's left is to order a pair of belts :)

hi sorry for going dead silent I was having an episode as one does. good news is:

vcr pc was a success. I'm calling it the MIKU MACHINE (I plan to put miku decals on it at some point)

16 bucks baybee!!! looks in pretty good condition too!!! gonna hook it up when I get home, if it works fucking swagtastic but if it doesn't that means I get to explain how to service these things! I've done it before and it was really fun and rewarding :)

oh fuck yes it's all coming together. Ubuntu installed properly Kodi installed got a 13 dollar controller and managed to configure it how I needed it. hatsune miku wallpaper. we're winning girls

okay additional notes: disc drive defo still works. super quiet now apparently?? it's quieter than pacman fever (my desktop) suprusingly. i wiped the windows install back to factory and im trying to install Ubuntu on it now :) hopefully it works bc I've never done Linux before. also I forgot how fucking VILE windows is on initial startup before removing all the bloatware and telemetry.

ok making notes: looks like this thing has space for a 2.5 inch hdd, already has a 3.5 hdd inside it. power supply only goes up to 180w❓️goofy ah ah. looks like it has a disc drive though!!!! epic win. curious to see if this thing is still rattling like it was when we put it out of commission lol

my brother has generously donated his shitty old hp tower to me so guess what I'm startingggg (project where I make a glorified vcr to use with my projector so I can finally watch shows on something bigger than my laptop screen.)

plan is to basically load the thing up with hard drives so I can throw my downloaded media onto it, then have it run Linux and be controller compatible so it can sit on the shelf next to the projector. the reason for doing this instead of just hooking a laptop up to it is a. the connection between laptop and projector is always finicky b. I need my laptop for school and would prefer to not have to set it up and take it down again every day c. laptop has shit storage space d. easier to control from a controller than standing on the couch and fiddling with keyboard and mouse. plus the hardware is free since I'm reusing an old tower that wasn't gonna be used anymore.

step one is to clean the thing out and figure out what im working with wish me luck o7 🏳️‍⚧️
