When I was younger I would watch the mandarin evening news with my parents, and every day after the financial segment there would be a tribute segment to the Canadian soldiers that died that day in Afghanistan. It wasn't until I was much older that I realized this wasn't a normal thing. When I went to school I would cross a bridge that ran across highway 401, and sometimes there would be people lined up on the bridge carrying Canadian flags, because that was the highway along which the soldiers' bodies would be brought home from the airport. This too, I would later realize, was not a normal everyday occurrence.

I don't know if Canada is gonna stand by the US and get themselves into this mess. I pray they don't. But I also know our government's hands are soaked with blood as it is, and that every time someone starts a war, innocent people suffer the most.

I am terrified of where the world goes from here.
