I really like fictional couples that actually enjoy spending time with each other. It seems like such a simple, mundane thing. But, often, I see fictional couples who are completely enamored and dramatic and willing to die for each other, which is fine. But like⌠do they enjoy hanging out? Do they have private jokes and would they be friends even if they werenât in love? It feels like such a basic thing, but itâs something that I actually donât see that often. And it feels so refreshing and honest compared to these over-dramatic romeo and juliet-esque romances. Just two people who become good friends and because they enjoy each otherâs presence so much it grows into a strong attraction. It feels more real and tangible than two attractive people meeting and âfalling in love at first sightâ - like, of course, you fell in love at first sight! Youâre both supermodels! Sorry, canât relate.

When Bea was eight, her parents got divorced. They gave her The List of Things That Will Not Change, including that they both will love her more than anything; her parents will always love each other, but in a different way; and they are all still a family, but in a different way đ - Bea adds her own observations to the list as she grows older, including that her dad is gay and that his boyfriend Jesse, whom she adores, is staying. But some things are harder to deal with. Sheâs impulsive and excitable and gets very anxious, and like all of us, she makes mistakes and these weigh on her conscience, one more than others. And then thereâs different reactions to her dad & Jesse getting married. - The author has such a knack of writing for this age group in a way that doesnât mask the harder realities of life. Even though Bea is overjoyed to be getting a sister in Jesseâs daughter Sonia, it may not be returned in kind, through no fault of her own. Ouch đ - I read compulsively to the end and wanted to give this to every anxious kid twelve years and under, but also to a lot of adults. Bittersweet - as author Carly Nugentâs rec says: âa beautiful reminder of the importance of making mistakes, feeling feelings, and forgiving yourselfâ. Yes, I am a writer. Yes, thisâll probably be a blog about writing and roleplaying. But do you know whatâs more important than writing and roleplaying ?
Thatâs right, you !
So hereâs a list of things I want everyone to do in order to prepare themselves for a day full of successful writing and roleplay !
SELF CARE LIST :
1. Start your day off by making your bed ! Making your bed at the start of your morning makes you feel less cluttered and more productive.
2. Drink Water ! Guys, take this from someone who used to thirst myself like crazy â I mean, I would go almost a whole day without water. Drinking water not only gives you energy during the day, but also helps flush out the toxins in your body, especially the ones that retain unnecessary fats and bacteria ( sorry, thatâs the nursing assistant coming out of me đ)
3. Please, please, please make a healthy breakfast ! Again, Iâve been in the position where I would skip breakfast and rush to start my day. Heck, I used to wait until 5:30 pm to eat a single thing. Itâs not good for you, so make sure you eat a proper breakfast before starting the day !
4. Skin Care ! If you donât have a skin care routine now, thatâs okay ! I literally just started with mine about two weeks ago. But let me tell you, it makes a difference ! It makes your skin look and feel healthy; plus, you get a nice confident boost !
5. Take vitamins and medicines, and make sure to brush your teeth, too ! These speak for themselves.
6. If you meditate, stretch, do yoga, pray or read your Bible ( or any religious or non - religious text ), give yourself about 15 - 20 minutes to do that in the morning ! Giving yourself some quiet alone time is healthy and very much needed before tackling the days To - Do list !
7. Turn on some fun bops ! Listening to music will motivate you as you start your day, and stimulate your brain while you do your chores â because guess what ? Yep, thatâs whatâs next on the list !
8. Start on your chores, schoolwork or work assignments ! I know, it doesnât sound that fun. But youâll thank yourself later for starting on your work as soon as possible. And if you did the other items first, youâre completely ready to tackle your work !
* If you have anxiety, adhd, depression, ect., try starting your cleaning routine by simply focusing on one area of each room to declutter per day ( that way you donât overwhelm or stress yourself out ) !
Remember, youâve got this ! You are doing great, youâll get through the day ! And even if you donât do everything on this list, just putting in the effort means youâve tried your best, and thatâs what matters !
