Bitter pill for me to swallow as a fanfic writer

Sometimes I feel like my stories should get more interaction and more love.

But actually;

Art is subjective. Others may hate a story I love and vice versa. Just cause it's a personal fave of mine doesn't mean readers will adore it.

The readers don't owe me a damn thing. It was my choice to post the story. I should be more grateful for any amount love my story recieved.

The lesson here is to write because I enjoy doing it and not because I'm looking forward to how others will respond to it. There's joy in sharing a story with others that love the characters but the true joy should be in writing itself.

this was my senior quote and truly i think hearing jack wolfe say it out loud might break me

orpheus saying "to the world we dream about" and then turning and raising his cup to the audience when he says "and the one we live in now." fourth wall break of all time. reminding the audience that this story isn't just about hadestown, but is also about our world. stepping back into reality, just for a brief moment, to acknowledge both the joy and pain of living in that world. it is so deeply compassionate and real and it breaks my heart every time.

I don't feel like we talk about Marya's paintings enough. I'm honestly surprised Wylan was able to get out of Saint Hilde's before breaking down. He only just found out his mother was even alive after eight years, half of his life, and the entire time, despite her drugged and barely-lucid state, she was still thinking of him, missing him, loving him like his father never would. All of this while Wylan was still disguised as Kuwei and had no way of knowing if he'd ever wear his own face again. The face that his mother, for years, spent painting over and over in some desperate attempt to keep her baby with her. I am not okay.

Jack Wolfe is perfect casting for Orpheus because the tone of his voice is just inhuman enough that if someone told me he was the son of a muse irl and he then conjured up a flower and made walls move just by singing a few notes I’d only be mildly surprised
