I found this site when I was looking around comparison heights for 5"2 compared to 5"11 and if you know the height of a celebrity/historical figure and it’s similar to your characters it may be helpful for writing and/or drawing /0v0/

Okay, but consider this...
Modern fantasy creatures and people being exposed to new lifestyles and developing dreams and goals that don’t fit with their species or their culture in the slightest.
A dwarf who was born in a mine, grew up in a mine, and can count the number of times they’ve been surface-side on both hands. One of these times, they witnessed an airshow. They go home and tell their parents: “Mom, Dad, I want to be a pilot.” “What’s a pilot?” “We’ll, y’see…” And a brief explanation later… “YOU WANT TO DO WHAT? WHERE DID WE GO WRONG? DAMN IT, ROK, I TOLD YOU THAT THE SUN WOULD GO TO HIS HEAD. NOW HE THINKS HE CAN FUCKING FLY, THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!
An elf who has a deep interest in geology and underground exploration signs up for a dwarven digging mission. Shows up first day all long limbs and being seven feet tall, and has to become a 90 degree angle to get through the door. “Hey guys! Who’s ready to look at some rocks? Am I right? Well, it’s a tight fit, but I bet I can do it if I squeeze. Ooh, I know some great digging songs by the way.” The dwarves immediately try to find a way to fire the elf without being sued for racial discrimination. “I told you we should have been more careful about the ad.” “I put in it Gold and Gems Monthly, Brek, how was I to know elves read that kind of thing?” “OHMIGOSH, GUYS COME SEE WHAT I FOUND!” “Your turn, Nik.” “I swear to God, if it’s another goddamn stalagmite again…”
A centaur whose herd migrates to a coast area and sees the ocean for the first time. “Greyhoof, I’m going to be a fisherman.” “What?” “I’m going to sail the seven seas; I want to be a sailor.” “Blackmane, you’re half horse, you can’t sail.” “I can learn.” “You can’t climb their weird ropes things. What would you even do on the ocean?” “It’s called rigging and I’d be a fisherman, obviously, like I told you.” “YOU’RE A CENTAUR, YOU CAN’T SAIL!” “YOU DON’T KNOW THAT. DON’T TRY AND DESTROY MY DREAMS, GREYHOOF, I CAN DO ANYTHING I SET MY MIND TO. I BELIEVE IN ME.”
A mermaid who gets really interested in those land mountains that touch the clouds and meets an extreme mountain-climber on the beach, then decides they’ve found their calling. “I’m going to be the first mermaid to climb Mount Everest.” “What? Bluefins, that’s ridiculous.” “No, no, I’m gonna do it.” “You can’t breathe air.” “I’ll bring a tank of water, like what the humans do with air when they dive.” “YOU DON’T HAVE LEGS.” “I know, that’s what’ll make me the first mermaid to do it. I’m going to have to work around that, but” “FOR FUCK’S SAKE, BLUEFINS. WE’RE TROPICAL.” “No, see, there are these human things called coats. I’ve got it all figured out. Look, I drew plans.” “WITH WHAT?”
(EDIT: I’ve read Terry Pratchett’s stuff. Stop telling me to read it. I’m not looking for any of these things. I just like thinking about determined people with ridiculous dreams and appropriately horrified friends and family.)
Because this needs more to it… Greek Mythology Edition.
A gorgon who desperately wants to be a portrait photographer immediately buys a camera and slithers home to tell her sisters. “You want to what? Stheno, there is literally no way that will end well.” “Euryale, come on, stop being a downer and help me figure out this zoom button.” “I think I’d rather contact our insurance company and cry.”
A minotaur with a passion for knitting. “HOW DARE YOU BRING A BALL OF STRING INTO THIS HOUSE, MAISEY, I RAISED YOU BETTER THAN THAT.” “For the love of Zeus, mom, nobody cares about the Theseus thing anymore.” “DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE NEIGHBORS WILL SAY?” “I joined a volunteer group to knit caps for babies, mom, stop overreacting. It’s embarrassing.” “YOU BRING DISHONOR ON ME; YOU BRING DISHONOR ON YOU, YOU IDIOT COW.“
A siren who gets really into silent films and drags all their friends along. “I don’t get it.” “Shut up, Melody, this is the best part. You’re going to get us kicked out again.” “But where’s the sound? Why is there no sound?” “You’re supposed to draw your audience in regardless. Now shut up.” “BUT WHY IS THERE NO SOUND, ARIA? WHY IS THERE NO SOUND? THERE’S NOT EVEN ANY MUSIC. WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO MAKE THIS YOUR LIFE?”

Note
how do medical things work?? :/ I've fractured my ankle before, but that's it. I mean like surgery/stitches, things like that. (a camp half-blood infirmary, specifically) and how do things like anesthesia feel? I've had some before, but not a lot and only at the dentist (as far as I know) sry this seems kinda vague!
I’m afraid we’re not the right blog to answer this question, when I write about that kind of stuff I ask google and then sort of improvise from there. Good Luck!

(disclaimer: This series will be ongoing and indefinitely open to new posts and new suggestions for topics. A table of contents is available and kept up-to-date as new posts are added. As with all advice on culture, if you are planning on basing your own fictional culture off an existing culture, please do extensive research into anthropology and discussions from people of the culture. Avoid direct appropriation and utilize only for inspirational purposes.)
Part 7: Enhancing Plot With Culture
Talking about setting and character is only half the battle, and, no, I don’t mean 2/3. I really mean half. Your characters are important, your setting is crucial, but it’s in your plot that your cultures should shine. You can make the most difference to the under-represented the more front-and-center you make a culture, but there are correct times and places for every technique. Let’s take a look at some for bringing culture to your plot. Plot is made up of three basic elements: conflict, climax, and resolution. These three things are generally placed within the five-act structure which dictates that the story moves through the exposition and rising action, coming to a head at the climax and falling action, and finally wrapping up in the resolution. Looking at plot in this very simplistic manner gives us the opportunity to explore each of these sections through the lens of culture. What can we do with culture in each of these?
Given that the expository section is all about introducing your characters and setting, this is the perfect place to begin building your cultural landscape. This is your chance to weave in your details and begin laying out your character’s actions and attitudes. The exposition of your tale is where your audience will expect culture-building, so give it to them. Don’t be shy about it. Give some of your weirdo details. Paint them a scene that’s completely different from where they’re living, then breathe people into it. This is the most natural place for culture-building, but it’s also where you must be most aware of info-dumping. Paint the picture, but do it actively, through your characters, not passively solely through your narration. Set your base, tell them what to expect, and remember to track these decisions so you can continue to bring them up.
The rising action is your opportunity to start bringing culture to the forefront in the non-standard, face-value ways that exposition is all about. Your rising action is where your plot’s conflict begins rearing its ugly head. When you’re building your plot, before you’ve even started writing, decide how you want to use culture.
Because culture is such a broad topic that covers so much, it is rife with opportunities for conflict, which is, in the end, the greatest component of plot. If you decide that culture is going to be the center of your conflict, then your climax needs to be completely centered on whatever aspect of culture you’ve chosen to focus on. Remember: Culture is an intertwined, complex creature. One part of culture can never be fully extrapolated to stand on its own from the others. Mess with one, you mess with several. On that note, one way of using culture as your conflict is to make a point. If this is your plan–to make a statement about some aspect of culture–be sure you’ve done extensive research, decided what topic you’re going to concentrate on, what side you’re going to take, and how you are going to portray it. This tactic can create very divisive stories, so be very careful if this kind of a story is your plan.
Culture at the heart of your conflict isn’t always completely necessary to make culture a prominent feature in your plot, though. Use culture as a platform for your conflict instead of as the conflict. Maybe your characters figure out a way to use the cultural aspects of life around them to influence the climax events. Put your climax events in a cultural space, even though they’re not about the culture. Use the culture to emphasize your conflict if you don’t want the culture to be the conflict. You’ve got options. Explore them!
Falling action is a bit of a tricky thing to dissect because it goes so hand-in-hand with the resolution. Remember that laws and the consequences of the climax are all cultural. Please take these into account when outlining the aftermath of your conflict. If you write an action-charged climax, your falling action needs to have the fallout be realistic. How the culture reacts to the climax event is going to be specific to their values, morals, and laws. Don’t leave those out. It’s powerful to see how society is going to deal with this change. Even a character-centric story is going to have cultural repercussions from their decisions. Think those through and formulate scenes to help you illustrate them.
In your resolution, consider this: Some aspect of your character’s culture gives your character comfort after their stress of the climax. Now there’s a resolution I could get behind. Alternatively, if your story’s about a character rejecting their culture in some way, perhaps the character finds comfort in an aspect of an alternative culture. We often consider our resolutions as being a reconciliation between two characters, but it doesn’t have to be that. Even if it is, give it a cultural backdrop. You have a myriad of options to pull from, so choose an event that’s not just your typical conversation.
Next up: Some additional exploration and some examples (because apparently you can never have enough examples)!

Note
okay so I have this supporting character (a friend of the main protagonist) and she (the friend) has a crush on her (the protagonist), but the protagonist is not interested in her that way. what would be the best way to show a let down character that is still willing to be friends without having to go deep into her thoughts? and how would I portray her as slowing moving on throughout the book? thank you so much!! love your blog btw.
I think the important thing is to show the change in her feelings from “potential romantic partner” to “just friends.” Maybe she goes from showing her affection in a more outright manner to showing it in more of a sibling-like way. And maybe for a time following the rejection she doesn’t show her feelings as much as she used to, until she’s comfortable with doing so as friends. The important thing is to have her continue to support your protagonist and, above all, to not take it personally that her feelings aren’t returned to her in the way she would have hoped.
