Sebastian: I can answer the how. There’s evidence underground that part of the peninsula Sanctuary is on was once underwater. Concentrated salt deposits, that sort of thing.

It’s safe to say that the water came from the ocean. As to what’s driving the phenomenon? We’ve yet to discover.

I’ve almost lost count of the years. Has it really been over a thousand? Were it not for the continual cycle of life and death of those around me I would have no indicator of the passage of time. The world is frozen to it’s core. The Storm is unyielding, the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Only the passage of light and dark suggests that there is a changing light source hanging above. Otherwise I would suspect that Time itself had halted.

There are those who hope that there are places unscathed by the Storm but I am quite certain they are wrong. 

Death, what’s that like? Is this death? Perhaps we’re all dead, and this is some sort of icy hell where we wait for our souls to wither and be exterminated from existence entirely. No. It cannot be. Such a thing cannot exist. That would indicate a god. Surely there is no higher being. A world’s creator would not leave it to rot in this state. If such a being exists, then I have the upmost loathing for them. 

I do not know anymore. If I had never found this place, I would have sure gone mad. Outside, there is only snow. And snow.

Hlin: There are many other rare species, some so much that I’ve only seen one in my entire lifetime.

I’ve slain a giant feral bird with rainbow wings.

I was allies with a small pink fairy that could morph form. They called themselves Mew. I like to believe I’ve met three in my lifetime.

The heatran clan that live in the caverns and work with us are a rare species as well, but I’d hardly call them ‘legendary’. They can age, die, bear children. They can be killed by other pokemon. Its true there are some that possess more power than others, but isn’t that the natural order of things? Even I’ve nearly fallen in battle many times.

I have yet however, to meet my own kind. 

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a meeting to attend.

Hlin: We’re so disabled by the Storm that until recently we’ve only been able to explore roughly a 50 mile radius from the colony. I would not be surprised if there are other species in far-off regions and environments that we’ve yet to discover. Perhaps they’re in this “Kanto” you speak of. Is that a colony?

There’s also the possibility that they’re extinct..

As for how I found these caverns..? An old friend, a ninetales, stumbled upon it by accident.

Petal: I wanna say hi to the larvesta!

Hlin: As you command mighty rider.

Petal: Is this how you felt when you first flew?

Hlin: After so many centuries without this metal limb? Well, I was a bit clumsy at first but yes, it was.. exhilarating to say the least. 

Petal: Now imagine how it’ll be when the Storm is over and you can fly up to the stars? Do you think there’s really stars up there?

Hlin: There must be. 

Petal: What do you think it’s like? The night sky?

Hlin: I imagine it’s like this, but if there were thousands of larvesta hanging from a ceiling so high, it take a lifetime to get there.

Petal: Do you wanna do that? Fly to the stars?

Hlin: My dear, I would fly beyond them.

Petal: What do you think is past it all? Past the sky? Is there another giant ceiling above this one? Or does it go on forever? If it goes on forever what do the stars hang from?

Hlin: I can’t say for sure little one. I think that’s something you should ask Seb don’t you think?
