Ok Im actually convinced Shawn knows he's in love with Cory, and he knows full well what he's doing when he does/says certain things..
For example, starting off with a CRAZY ONE. If we are going off of Girl Meets World canon. WHY did Shawn give Cory a RING?! And then they just have rings together??? The man has a WIFE Shawn. Like have some dam decorum.
Then bro the WEDDING EPISODE. Their breakup episodes. The episode where he was pissed at Cory about breaking his promise to take him to Vermont and everything.
When he tells Topanga she's one of the best people in his life. She asks who's first and he says "He is".
When he tells Cory "You think I don't know you better than anybody?" because WHAT ELSE
When he took Cory on that trip to tell him he's planning on leaving. Just to be happy with him again before he leaves. And he knew Cory would make a scene, but he took him anyway.
JUST THECWAY HE SPEAKS. HIS ACTIONS. YOU CANT TELL ME HE DOESNT KNOW HES IN LOVE WITH THAT BOY.
AND HE JUST BECOMES SO DISTRAUGHT IN MOMENTS WHERES HES REMINDED CORY 'DOESNT FEEL THE SAME WAY'.

Remember on Boy Meets World when Topanga got into Yale but Cory didn’t even hear her nor care because he was too distraught over Shawn and then even after finding out she was accepted still only cared about Shawn? Me too

I always talk about "An Affair to Forget" when it comes to the Cory/Shawn relationship and how it would have been a perfect place to start having the characters question their feelings, and I tend to forget about "It's Not You, It's Me," which is arguably even better.
There are MULTIPLE moments throughout the episode where both Cory's father and girlfriend question if he's straight, and while the audience laughs, it's not exactly played for only jokes -- ie, Topanga seems sincerely curious about if he's attracted to her or Shawn. "An Affair to Forget," i'd argue, leans on the comedy beats even more than "It's Not You, It's Me," because the core emotion is anger and betrayl there, instead of the more lighthearted tone of pining.
Shawn, for his part, is SO hurt over Cory's decision to apply to other schools and it's just a huge, gaping doorway that could have been used to have him confront his own emotions. It truly would take Mr. Feeny saying, "Ask yourself, why do you care so much?" to change that narrative. Dawson's dad did it for Pacey, Feeny could have done it for Shawn. Instead, the message becomes "we're from different worlds," a story they do, IDK, 100 times in the course of 7 seasons.
As usual, I will never be over this

Hi, me here, reminding you that even Cory and Topanga’s WEDDING was about Cory and, who? Oh yes, that’s right. SHAWN.
Thank you and goodnight

Cory tells him he is not gonna give up on this. Shawn laughs and rolls his eyes playfully. Of course you're not. -Danielle

I truly believe that Cory and Topanga were entirely mismatched, and that Boy Meets World does nothing to dispute this fact.
Forget that they retconneced their relationship to say that they’ve been together since they were 3 years old, there is never a moment where they understand each other in the midst of conflict.
And when that happens — and it does often — who usually fixes that for them? Shawn.
This happens when Cory kisses Lauren, when they break up after that kiss, when Cory’s baby brother is in the hospital … the list goes on.
Topanga does not understand Cory on a basic human level. At times, it’s almost as if she pitys him or thinks he’s a joke. I don’t think Cory is a perfect character by ANY STRETCH of the imagination, but he only recognizes these flaws through the help of Shawn. His growth — when not through a lesson from Feeny of course — is ALWAYS with Shawn. Honestly even Angela communicates with him more efficiently in the final seasons (not in a romantic way).
We are told to love Cory and Topanga. EVERY REASON we are told to love them is SHOWN in Cory’s relationship to Shawn. I cannot express this enough.
They made this same exact misstep on Girl Meets World — with forcing Riley/Lucas on us all when the natural chemistry AND narrative clearlyyyyyyy led to Riley/Farkle and Lucas/Maya — but that’s another post.

Shawn, I gotta tell you something. Oh, and I want to hear all about it. But not in front of your parents, okay?

there should’ve been an episode or fic where Eric’s childhood friend, Jason, came back from some undisclosed location
And is staying around for a bit, maybe Eric offers him the couch in his apartment or smth.
It should start normal, just old pals catching up. Jason gets introduced to everybody. Everyone’s Having fun. It’s a great couple of days/weeks.
But when he goes to leave, he’s like
“hey eric thanks for having me. and i just want u to know i think it’s totally u cool u have a boyfriend now. unexpected but cool. i noticed u introduced him as ur roommate and i know thats a thing ppl do but u could’ve told me what was rlly up. we’ve been friends since we were 3, man!” (or something)
and then hes like alright nice seein ya man, bye!
I think that’d be a good plot
