This is really important. Black matte queers forever.
My first real kiss was a gay kiss. People tried to tell me that it didn’t count, that girls practice on eachother while we wait for boys to pay attention, resolved into a dystopian unilateral hetero future. I knew that I got anxious and sweaty around her and I lied to impress her and no boy had…

When they throw the water on the witch, she says, “Who would have thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness”. That line inspired my life. I sometimes say it to myself before I go to sleep, like a prayer.

A Brief Note on Symmetry in Wes Anderson’s Editing.
The more films Wes Anderson directs, the more tightly structured and precise each aspect of his style becomes. He’s long favored neat centering and symmetry in his compositions, but on rewatching The Grand Budapest Hotel, I noticed that there’s a kind of symmetrical logic to Pilling’s editing as well. In this little video, I’ve tried to render that “symmetrical” patterning in the editing visible by breaking the shots out of their temporal sequence and giving them a spatial sequence as well. Enjoy! (Also listen up for the way Desplat’s music aligns to and emphasizes certain edit points.)

I am both tired and bored with myself and have a strong desire to change my clothes, my hair, my face at all times. I consider this the queer human condition.

One place that makes me happy: Challengers Comics in Chicago
How many blankets do i sleep under: Usually a sheet and a quilt. Sometimes a second quilt if I'm cold.
Best thing you feel you’ve achieved in the last 2 years?: Getting my podcast off the ground is pretty cool. Also I reached a place where I'm much more comfortable with myself, gender-wise.
One thing you hope for the future?: To build a sustainable living out of freelance work, so I don't have to go back to the 9-5 thing.
What do you do to instantly cheer yourself up?: If I have time, I'll watch Cry-Baby or Singin' in the Rain. If I have less time, I'll watch the "We're Gonna Finally Be Fine" number from the Season 3 premiere of Community or this one video of Ethel Merman and Bing Crosby doing "You're the Top." So yeah, musical numbers are the number one thing that cheers me up.
