Recently i went to japan
During my time in japan, i had the privilege and pleasure of going to the ghibli museum twice
You are not allowed to take photos inside, but inside you will find that every little detail was touched by an artist.
When you enter theres immediately a mural on the ceiling, hand painted, unrelated to ghibli aside from minor references
All the windows are stained glass, all the signs are hand lettered/ hand painted.
The floors are real hardwood, and the railings were all hand crafted by a blacksmith.
Theres an exhibit featuring an animation studio, with everything from paint stains to ashtrays filled with crumpled cigarette butts.
Sticky note doodles and rough sketches fill the desks and walls, everything indicates someone has worked here.
Warped shelves on the desk filled with old tapes and cds with a crumby boombox sat crudely on a chair next to the desk.
on the roof is a robot soldier standing 11ft tall and built from hammered metal, again, handmade like everything else. on the roof there were railways, and a set of railcar wheels detached from a cart, and overgrown with vines
This art museum was not anything like a regular art museum, but instead it was a celebration of art itself, as something made by people.
The museum celebrates film, as an object. An object that is the culmination of peoples work all coming together to come to one unified goal.
This museum celebrates the human spirit. And how beautiful the act of creation is.
Everything in that building was thought of, not a detail left unexplored. even the goddamn BATHROOMS had antique diaper changing stations and old reclaimed tiles!!
Everything, and i mean EVERYTHING was hand crafted, by an artist. By a person. With love, and care and soul.
I almost cried multiple times as i was reminded that, art wont die. Ai will not kill art, so long as there are humans on earth there will be art made by humans. Because it is human nature to create, to love, to experience life and what it has to offer.
If you can manage to look at an ai image and say its equal or even better than something someone spent time and care on, then you do not know the first thing about art.
This is not to say ai doesnt have its uses, but it has no place in the world of creation. In the world of art.
Thank you.

me cocking the gun, tears streaming down my face: I’M NOT FUCKING SCARED OF YOU

My commission from @popsicle-stick of Jonathan and Mina Harker, based off the iconic pose with Gomez and Morticia Addams.

It's fun when you can tell things about people by what colours they like to surround themselves with. Someone who likes wearing and decorating all their stuff with green is usually a calm, chill, down to earth kind of a person. They don't usually even notice how much of all their things are green, they just see a green thing and think "oh, pretty" and don't even put together just how much of their stuff ends up unintentionally being green.
Someone whose clothes and stuff are predominantly purple is something else, that's a Distinct Kind Of Personality who enjoys having a distinct colour scheme and goes out of their way to get it. Purple is too unusual of a colour to just accumulate unintentionally. A person whose belongings are mainly purple enjoys knowing that the people who know them probably first think "oh, That Person would probably like that" whenever they see something purple.
But someone who specifically enjoys the combination of purple and green? Yeah that's a harder than average herb wizard.

Ive never really met anyone that thought of ribs as interesting… that’s such a shame. Ribs and the things they do are fascinating…. I think about them everyday.

fascinating that when you tell people "you have to learn the rules to break them" when talking about drawing/painting etc everyone nods and agrees but the second you say "you have to read books if you want to write better" there's a horde of contrarians begging to be the wrongest people ever all of a sudden
