My boyfriend came this weekend🫣🫣 I missed him so much and I got all my work done before he came to campus! I really needed this break from school and now I’m refreshed for finals! I have been studying for the mcat even though I have no date set; but that’s okay I’m just gonna put that on pause for now until exams are over!
I’ve been watching When I Fly Towards You. It’s a Chinese drama on Netflix and it’s soooo good!! I such a good break from school work but also motivating to do good in school at the same time🤭 once I finish that I want to watch The Apothecary Diaries!!
Make sure to take care of yourselves!🩵

Reflecting On a Bad Semester
The semester is over in about three weeks. Give or take a few days. It was probably the worst semester I've ever had. Really disappointing considering last semester was probably the best I ever had.
Off the bat, the semester started off bad, and it just continuously got worse. I could never find it in myself to be productive. I didn't spend enough time in the library. I didn't study enough. I didn't even go to the gym consistently.
I just fell off.
I'm trying to be compassionate despite my own disappointment in myself. I'm trying to tell myself this was just a case of burnout, but I'm dealing with the very real fear that maybe this is just who I am really.
Somehow, I've managed to dance the fence between passing and failing biochemistry. After a successful ochem run, biochem came in and destroyed me.
The worst part is: it's not difficult. The concepts aren't hard. I feel I know them, but I just can't bring myself to really care. It's weird, because I should care... I just don't.
Really, I'm exhausted. It's showing. Even my professor noticed.
It feels really helpless, because no matter what I say to motivate me, no matter what I promise myself: I just can't find it in myself to do it.
So with three weeks left in the semester, and a test tomorrow, I guess I'm just gonna try to give it my all.
I think while I'm getting my master's degree, I'm going to have to retake biochem. If I do pass that is.
God, I hope I do. I need to pass.
I guess I thought I should write about this here, because I know I was really eager to tell you all the good things in my academic life.
It feels dishonest to withold this from y'all.
I'm hoping that after the semester, I'll have some time to rest, recoup, and decide what I wanna see from myself moving forward.
Hope you are well.
Thanks for reading,
-C

I hope everyone is taking time for themselves as finals approaches🩵
I’m so happy spring is here!! I love winter but I hate wearing jackets. I had two exams this weeks so I’m a bit burnt out right now from those, but I’m trying to get my shit together again.
I’ve been struggling to journal but it is what it is especially since this is a high stress time so if I feel like I can’t then I’ll just put it off for a bit.

I have a confession. I’ve taken awful care of myself in the coming weeks before spring break. I’ve been eating terribly, not getting enough sleep, overworking myself. It’s led to constipation and a late period. I’m not treating it like a pregnancy scare or anything because of how badly I’ve been treating myself.
Now that I’m on spring break I’m trying to reset and eat better and calm down a bit. I was super stressed before due to my exams, but now I have a calc midterm during break and I should be able to take better care of myself during it.
It’s okay to fall back because progress isn’t linear, but i shouldn’t let that stop me or hold me back:)

How do you go about memorizing concepts and studying for exams to do well? For example in Biology
I’m very big on starting to study for exam as early as possible so like 3ish weeks I hand write notes to study them because it really helps me learn things better and I use ChatGPT to help explain and gaps in my knowledge!
If it’s a problem based class I make sure I understand all practice questions in homework’s and lecture. As well as the concepts behind them because I don’t like memorizing math problems.
Consistent review is very important so I’m always looking back at notes and trying to make practice questions based on lectures I should re-review and looking to understand what I do and don’t know. I heavily recommend making t-charts to learn things. Also, i believe the biggest factor is I start studying with the motive to understand and memorize. If I just memorize I won’t do well on exams so I try to make connections as I review as well. I hope this helped!

Hello! Happy February! The last couple weeks have been going so slow but I’d rather they go slow so I have time to study instead of too fast.
I did well on my physics and Hindi tests!! Which I am very happy about. I have to grind out microbiology this week-end for my exam in a couple of weeks.
I’m really scared to burn myself out, but I might at this rate.

100 days of ghibli life: day 4/100
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had some appointments in the morning and when I got home I didn't feel like working. However, I got some work done before focusing on household chores. My therapist said I should focus on my work, but there are days when my brain doesn't feel like braining.
🩸: day 6/27
💧: 1,5 L
🛑: 🚫
🏃🏻‍♀️: 25 min walking
📚: 🚫
🐈‍⬛: worked on social media content
🧹: gardening + dishes + prepared my lunch boxes for the weekend + vacuumed my house
🍜: 🚫
✍🏻: no handmade work today, but I did watch some DIY miniature vídeos on YouTube, which I always find calming
🫖: tea break with no phone allowed heh
🌳: a bit of bird watching
🏔️: It wasn’t exactly an adventure, but today I saw my first foreign ad on YouTube. It was all in Japanese and was targeted at Japanese students (it was some kind of study app), so I’m not sure how it got into my algorithm, but I liked it! It made me feel like I was living abroad or something.
🎈: had fun vibing to 'strix' by (k)now_name while walking (Felt Very spy-y) + I am absolutely loving 'a man on the inside' (currently on ep 7)

Happy new year everyone! I hope your year is going well:)
I don’t believe in new year new me but I do believe in resolutions/ working towards your goals, but I believe in short term goals to relieve some pressure. wanted to share some of mine for this semester:
🩵Getting a 515+ on my MCAT.
🩵Eating more fresh veggies.
🩵Donate more clothes over the course of the year
I’m going back to school next week because I start on the 21st. I’m really excited to go back and have a routine. My boyfriend might not be there next sem and do a co-op instead but we’ll see either way it’ll be okay!
I’ve been studying for my MCAT, but since I’m on break I just wanna play games tbh, like I’m tired but I wanna work but I wanna play games but I also wanna laze around. It’s rough lol but I’ll work it out.

giving up the 'new year, new me' mindset
the concept of "new year, new me" is alluring because it suggests a fresh start and the possibility of transforming our lives overnight.
however, this mindset can often lead to unrealistic expectations and immense pressure to make drastic changes all at once. instead of focusing on an all-encompassing transformation, it’s more beneficial to adopt a sustainable approach to personal growth and improvement.
embracing gradual, meaningful changes throughout the year can lead to more enduring and fulfilling results. this approach allows you to build on small successes, develop healthy habits, and maintain a positive outlook without the stress of an all-or-nothing resolution.
adopting a healthier mindset:
set flexible goals: instead of rigid new year's resolutions, set flexible goals that allow room for growth and adaptation. recognize that progress is not always linear.
focus on habits: prioritize building positive habits rather than setting ambitious goals. habits form the backbone of lasting change and are easier to maintain.
celebrate small wins: acknowledge and celebrate small achievements along the way. this reinforces positive behavior and keeps you motivated.
continuous improvement: adopt a mindset of continuous improvement rather than a complete overhaul. this approach encourages ongoing personal development throughout the year.
reflect regularly: take time to reflect on your progress and adjust your goals as needed. regular reflection helps you stay on track and adapt to changing circumstances.
self-compassion: be kind to yourself. recognize that setbacks are a normal part of the process and use them as learning opportunities rather than reasons to give up.
practical steps:
identify key areas: focus on a few key areas where you want to see improvement. breaking it down into specific areas makes it more manageable.
create a plan: develop a realistic plan with actionable steps to achieve your goals. ensure it fits within your daily routine and lifestyle.
track progress: use a journal, app, or planner to track your progress. seeing your achievements, no matter how small, can be a great motivator.
seek support: share your goals with friends, family, or a support group. having accountability partners can help you stay committed and offer encouragement.
remember, personal growth is a journey, not a destination. embracing a mindset of gradual improvement can lead to more meaningful and lasting changes, making each day an opportunity to be your best self.

done with finals! And I got super sick the very next day! This has been a productive semester and I’ve spent time with people🩵 wishing everyone lots of good sleep and success esp to those taking exams right now I’m going to try to be much more active on here over break.
Also, I want some good romance anime recommendations on Netflix (include the country it’s in lol so I can do some switching around)
