would it be okay if someone willing took over running the polls or would you rather just let dead ships lie?
I'd prefer to keep it tbh, I might start it up again in the future like I said

I think I'll be canceling the tournament. I've lost motivation after that accidental deletion in Round 3 and never got around to properly restarting it. I may or may not do the tournament again in the future, but it won't be any time soon.
Sorry everyone.

Sorry about the Round 3 delays, personal stuff has happened and I'm thinking of changing the style of how I write the polls but I haven't had the time to make the actual polls themselves. I should be able to do it tomorrow or Thursday but no guarantee.

I'm starting to think that the original inhabitants of the Minecraft world died out due to terminally awful seamanship. I mean, HOW?

I'm curious to know how the Mont-Blanc made it in over the Imo, when my understanding was that the Imo was mostly the one responsible for the explosion.
The Imo caused the collision, but the Mont-Blanc was the ship that exploded. I briefly considered putting both in the same spot (it'd have been "SS Mont-Blanc and SS Imo") but decided against that, mainly because all the Halifax Explosion submissions were the Mont-Blanc

I know this is too late, but I feel like the sms schleswig-holstein is by far the most problematic ship in history.
Unfortunately I disallow warships that are problematic because of their wartime actions from being in the tournament

SHIT I accidentally deleted one of the round 3 matches
And this is absolutely terrible timing because I'll be traveling for much of tomorrow and don't have time to fix it until maybe Sunday.
Round 3 will be restarted then, and both of the current Round 3 polls are invalid. Really sorry about this everyone, I'll make a post when it's back up again

We need to go back to using sailing ships full time like immediately. Yes it would take longer to get places but the Aesthetic is unmatched

Environmental devastation vs. city-leveling detonation - which one will proceed to the next round? Get those votes in, there's less than a day to go!
Problematic Ship Tournament: Round 2, Match 4
SS Mont-Blanc: The Mont-Blanc caused the deadly Halifax Explosion of 1917, colliding with the SS Imo and detonating 20 minutes later with 2.9 kilotons of force. Much of the city of Halifax was leveled by the blast and over 1700 people were killed. The explosion is still one of the largest non-nuclear man-made explosions in history.
Exxon Valdez: An oil tanker that ran aground in Prince William Sound in 1989, causing a massive oil spill and devastating the local environment. The area is still recovering today.

Can the fan-favourite Ever Given prevail against the Grandcamp's explosive power? Only a day left 'til we find out...
Problematic Ship Tournament: Round 2, Match 1
Ever Given: We all know why she's here - in 2021, the Ever Given got stuck in the Suez Canal for nearly a week, blocking the path of other ships and causing billions of dollars of loss in global trade. Two years later, the container ship and the obstruction it caused is still the subject of many a joke or meme.
SS Grandcamp: In 1947, the Grandcamp was carrying the fertilizer and explosive ammonium nitrate, alongside flammable materials like twine and cotton, in Texas City port. A fire started in the cargo hold, and was not properly extinguished, leading to the Grandcamp exploding and leveling everything within 2000 feet of it.

Spacecraft vs. Spacecraft and less than 24 hours left - this poll has the largest difference out off Round 2, but a lot can change in a day... Keep voting everyone!
Problematic Ship Tournament: Round 2, Match 3
Space Shuttle Challenger: The third of six Space Shuttle program orbiters, Challenger flew nine successful missions before a cracked O-ring in one of the boosters caused it to explode 73 seconds after launch in January of 1986, killing all seven on board.
SpaceX Starship: The most recent problematic ship of this tournament. Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, foolishly decided not to construct a flame trench under Starship's launchpad - causing the rocket's engines to destroy its own launchpad upon ignition, sending debris back into the engines and knocking many of them out. Four minutes later, it exploded over the Gulf of Mexico.

Tight race on the final day of round 2! Will the Californian outlast the Titanic once again, or will the most famous shipwreck in the world take its revenge? Get those votes in now...
Problematic Ship Tournament: Round 2, Match 2
SS Californian: A steam ship that was sailing within a few miles of the Titanic during its sinking, it may have seen its distress flares but never moved to assist. Had it come to help, most or all of the people on board could have been saved.
RMS Titanic: A colossal ocean liner that was the pride of its line and built with cutting-edge engineering at the time, rumored to be "unsinkable". This was proven to be false when it collided with an iceberg in April of 1912, sinking and taking over 1500 lives with it.

Note
will you be doing a sequel? If so, how would I submit ships that I think deserve to be in the tournament (with the understanding that submissions are entirely at your discretion) if there's a round two? I've been compiling a list.
There will be a bonus round after the main tournament is finished, with ten ships going into one poll. I'll be reopening submissions for that so you can put your list there!
