if i wrote a lemar x cubby fic that focused on what caused their distance and how lemar dealt with his death post series, i wonder if anyone would read it

I headcanon that Lemar pushed Cubby away after he got sick because he couldn't handle seeing cubby become less of the person he knew - because he didn't know how to deal with it. Like we see the whole time in earlier seasons that the 'children' avoid coming face to face with the 'death of their peers' and the elders never really hold their hand through it, Lemar and Cubby less so compared to Damon and Ricky - they never get any care or love the way the others do. They don't get pushed to do something good for themselves, nor are they given any pep talks, not even when they're in the Evangelista House. They're always around people who talk about family but they never really feel part of a family, they're just people who do things for them in each house.

So, I think, Lemar never really knew how to accept Cubby's death. Him losing weight, him getting weaker, him not having the face or body or the energy that Lemar knew Cubby to have all these years they were together. And then Blanca was there telling him to go see Cubby but it had to be Blanca who told him and that probably upset Lemar too.

And he kept pushing it off, until it was so late that he didn't get to say goodbye properly, but he still came. Even if it was late, and it broke him when they told him he was late, and they tried to blame him for it, they put it on him that he should feel guilt that he didn't take Cubby in - "because he was sick", but where was the rest of them, then? So much hypocrisy and I have a feeling Lemar saw through all of that and built his own walls , the same way he saw Electra had. He knew what to do to win and he had the power and hardwork to go for what he wanted.

It cost him a brother. And we only get a second of that mask falling down, when he doesn't think anyone is watching, Blanca sees it for just a minute. They leave Lemar alone and no one really asks him if he's okay and instead he's painted as the villain, while, from his point of view, it would be so understandable that everyone else was the villain in his life. He was a kid who only learned what he had to survive and escaped from all his fears.

Cubby knew it too. He knew he wasn't looking as beautiful as he once did and that it scared Lemar, "that's why he's not coming".

Honestly watching it again, im kinda sad Lemar didn’t get to say goodbye to Cubby. They coulda wrote it where he showed up but said something fucked up and then they fought idk. Season 3 is a 9/10 but that just made me extra sad.

Starting with Wanda losing Vision, Sam and Bucky losing Steve, Hawkeye losing Nat, and I guess Loki losing character development?

villains are hard to design. making them ugly is dangerous, depending on what traits you choose to frame as monstrous or undesirable, you could very well end up saying something fatphobic, racist, anti-semitic, etc

but if you make a hot villain then people will get thirsty and demand redemptions and refuse to acknowledge their evil actions, no matter how despicable
