This daily habit will help reduce stress and strengthen immunity – according to science
A practice that enhances your vitality!
Keeping a diary is one of those habits that for most people seems to be weakness at best and senseless digging at worst. After all, a simple description of your life cannot somehow change it, can it?
It turns out maybe. No matter how strange it sounds.
Keeping a diary is a long tradition of mankind. For many years, people trusted papyrus, parchment and paper that they would not trust anyone else. They recorded their life circumstances and experiences without embellishment, leaving as a result many important historical documents and amazing personal stories for us.
But if you think that only future historians can benefit from our diaries, you are mistaken. Modern scholars argue that this hobby with a respectable history can bring tangible health benefits.
Over the past decade, researchers have proven the undeniable advantages of regular diaries, especially in the form of so-called “emotional writing,” in which events are recorded that are particularly emotional or traumatic. An example of such events may be job loss, illness of loved ones or important life conflicts.
According to scientists, keeping a diary can lead to a significant improvement in mental and physical health. Among other things, it gives you the following benefits:
Lowering blood pressure
Improving lung function
Improving liver function
Relief of a symptom of asthma, irritable bowel syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis
Improving the functioning of the immune system (increasing the number of T-lymphocytes in the body)
Improving short-term and long-term memory.
This may surprise you, but keeping a diary even contributes to faster healing of wounds. A study in New Zealand in 2013 showed that in adults who described their experiences in diaries and frustrated their events for at least 20 minutes a day for 3 days, wounds healed 75% faster than the control group that did not keep diaries.
Additional studies also show that “emotional writing” leads to faster employment after job loss and higher student learning scores.
Think about it for a few minutes: people who spend only 20 minutes a day on keeping a diary heal more quickly from wounds, improve their intellectual parameters and learning outcomes, and do so without any side effects. If there was a pill doing all this, it would be swept off the shelves.
So why does keeping a diary have such an amazing healing effect? Unfortunately, a clear answer to this question does not exist, but it seems that this is due to the stimulation of the production of certain antibodies and hormones by the body that help it cope with stress.
Pennebaker, a psychologist and researcher in the field of “emotional writing,” says the following about this: “When you make notes about emotionally saturated and / or traumatic situations, it helps to present the situation in a different perspective, as if from the outside, structure it, organize and clearly formulate it thoughts that disturb you, which ultimately can help you overcome it … It also helps to sleep better, gives clarity of thoughts and feelings, and also contributes to a more saturated social life. All this, in turn, strengthens the immune system and health, and also improves the general condition of the body. “
Does that sound convincing? Then here are a few things to keep in mind if you want to start keeping a diary:
1. Do it by hand
Keeping a diary on paper and by hand activates a region of the brain called the reticular activating system (RAS), and science has proven that regular use of the RAS helps increase concentration. Handwriting also improves motor skills and stimulates memory, while typing on a computer does not. All in all, it keeps your mind in good shape.
2. Do not edit the written, and do not share it with anyone
Write down what you think quickly, without thinking over each word – because your thoughts and feelings are important, not value judgments. Do not share what you’ve written with anyone and don’t particularly worry about syntax and spelling. The meaning of the diary is primarily in self-knowledge and a description of your experiences, and not in the correct spelling.
3. Keep a diary the way you like
You will inevitably spend a lot of time keeping and re-reading the diary, so do it the way you like. Find a beautiful picture or a motivating quote that will cheer up every time you see them, and let it flaunt on the cover – on the Internet or bookstores you will find a lot of options.
Professional advice: take notebooks or notebooks with a hard cover and a spine connected by a spiral – so you will have much less problems with clearly spelling words and moving to a new page.
4. Write 15 to 20 minutes each day
As in the case of meditation, you will get the maximum benefit from keeping a diary if you do this consistently and over a long period. Personally, I prefer to keep a diary in the mornings, as it helps me to start the day in a fit and toned way. Some people choose evening for this, because they can write down everything that happened to them during the day. Find the time of the day that is right for you, and stick to it for maximum effectiveness.
***
If you decide to start a diary, remember that it makes you stronger and increases vitality. You do this to improve your physical, emotional, and possibly even spiritual health … And it will make your future life much happier.
“I never travel without my diary. I should always have something emotional with me to read on the train, ” Oscar Wilde.

Apple CEO Tim Cook: this is what everyone should read in difficult times
The works that Cook himself reads during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Apple CEO Tim Cook, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, said: “Those who face historical challenges with open eyes and hearts, always restless and full of aspirations, affect the lives of others most.” It was these words that he uttered during his online address to graduates of Ohio State University.
Cook told them: “Treat these unusual circumstances as if they are a sign of honor.” And he advised that you can read during a pandemic.
Having received “unfilled time intervals” in the schedule, Cook himself began to read more. The choice of the head of Apple fell on the works of Abraham Lincoln: “I recommend reading Lincoln to anyone who wants to use this time to good use. You will be shocked at how smart, funny and alive his judgments remain even in our days, and how this restrained and modest man managed to appeal to hope in difficult times. ”
Throughout his career, Lincoln has held hundreds of performances, and many of them are now freely available online. According to historians and experts, more books have been written about Lincoln than about any other historical figure.
Cook quoted a letter written by Lincoln Congress in December 1862 before signing the Slave Free Proclamation: “Dogmas from a quiet past are not good for a stormy present. Our path is filled with difficulties, and we must overcome them. Our business is new, therefore we must think in a new way and act in a new way. We must get rid of the usual path – and then we will save the country. “
Although this may seem like an inappropriate comparison, Cook called Lincoln another example of a man who, like us in 2020, was determined by the circumstances of his time. Lincoln got a country burning with a blue flame, but he decided to enter this fire and did everything possible to give his people a chaotic, conflict and imperfect, but quite good world.
According to Cook, today’s graduates enter the world of difficulties with open eyes and with the task of writing a story that does not necessarily depend on their decisions, but at the same time it completely belongs to them.”
Cook, who became Apple’s CEO in August 2011, shared his personal experiences on how working with Steve Jobs changed his mind. He says: “When I joined Apple in 1998, I could not believe this luck. I was going to spend the rest of my professional life working for Jobs. “
Commenting on the death of a genius in 2011, the current head of Apple said: “Fate creeps up to us like a villain in the cover of night. The loneliness that I experienced after losing Jobs proved to me that in the world there is nothing more eternal or powerful than the influence that we exert on other people. “

4 ancient martial arts tips to help you become more self-confident
The main rule is never to give up!
From childhood, I was taught to discipline. In conversations with adults, I was taught to say phrases like, “Yes, sir,” and “Yes, ma’am.” They taught us to set noble goals for ourselves and the fact that everything I achieved in a day is another step on the road to success. On the other hand, I grew up with the firm conviction that the only correct way to push up from the floor is with your knuckles. It was very painful. Remembering those days, it all seems terrible and abnormal to me.
As a child, I learned something else, although at that time I still did not realize the full force of the influence of this thing on my life: I learned to be self-confident. Every time I started doing something complicated, it was recognized. And in case of success, a good reward awaited me.
It may seem to you that I grew up with very strict parents. In fact, this is not so. My parents were and still are extremely caring and kind people. But my martial arts teachers were by no means so kind. They did not blink an eye when an 11-year-old boy told them that his knuckles hurt. Their answer was unexpected: “They must be sick.”
They not only told me to hold my hands in front of me, but they also gave me a slap in the face if I didn’t. And it was also unpleasant. The teachers pressed me. They tested me. And to be honest, I was afraid of them. But when I did it, their praise exceeded all expectations.
Fortunately, I did not need the ability to fight in adulthood, but the confidence gained in the martial arts classes played a decisive role in who I am today. I live every day, knowing that people who are ready to suffer a little pain, eventually become stronger than the rest. And I also know that if you are always ready, then do not miss a blow to the face.
But the purpose of this article is not to tell you about martial arts, but to help you realize that real self-confidence is a skill that can be learned and taught. And for the sake of their future, everyone should take possession of it.
How do you develop self-confidence? This is very difficult, so I offer some tips to make it easier for you to start.
1. Focus on basic skills
The U-turn jump looks really cool. However, many of us spend too much of our precious time dreaming of learning something impressive, while losing sight of the true value of basic skills.
Focus on repeating the basic movements with the utmost precision, and soon these small movements will become natural for you. And when something becomes a part of yourself, it is already very difficult to feel insecure.
2. Friendly fight
Sparring in martial arts is almost the same as playing a little wand. Yes, you know how to strike, but, more importantly, you learn to fight back, being under pressure. You understand that everything will be fine and, thereby, develop a sense of calm in yourself in a stressful situation.
Ask your work colleagues to question your ideas. And then question the ideas of your team members. And if someone succeeds in leaving you without protection, praise that person. This will increase not only your confidence, but also his.
3. Remember the goal
In martial arts, the goal is obvious – get a belt of the next color. But in life and at work, goals are not always so straightforward. Your task is to make them such.
It may seem strange at first, but if you clearly articulate your goal and determine the steps necessary to achieve it, then your confidence only grows because you know exactly what you need to get the final result.
4. Appreciate effort, encourage results and celebrate success.
Although confidence is often perceived as a certain personal quality, but if you really possess it, you quickly realize that you learned it from somewhere. By learning to identify efforts aimed at achieving a goal, we learn to be confident ourselves and teach this to other people.
Confidence arises when our achievements are rewarded and recognized, and we ourselves understand that we can achieve something beautiful. Most of all, self-confidence depends on the ability to appreciate the small steps, small goals and commitment that make people who they are today.
***
I still do martial arts. My kicks are already not so high, and the speed of movements is much less. And I’m still scared when difficulties arise in front of me that seem insurmountable.
One day, my teacher, perhaps, gave the most accurate definition of self-confidence when he said to a novice student: “A black belt is a white belt that never gives up.” Simple wisdom. And it should serve us as a simple recipe for success, no matter what we strive for. The main thing is not to give up.

5 unexpected signs that your life is changing for the better
You are on the right track!
Mankind has not yet come up with a device with which it would be possible to calculate the impending and necessary changes. However, there are certain indicators that will help you understand that you are on the right track.
Which of us does not want to be happy? He doesn’t want to change his life in order to stop worrying and worrying, to find joy and happiness? But life itself will not change, no matter how you dream about it. First you have to change your attitude towards what is happening, and to life as well. And for this, you will have to honestly answer questions about who you are today, what you want and where you are going.
We’ll warn you right away that the answers may discourage you, or even confuse you even more. But do not rush to run away again to the comfort zone. The good news is that your business is likely to go much better than you think.
As a rule, we simply don’t notice the changes taking place, but there are signals about what is happening, and they are not so difficult to detect. And that means – to make sure that we are doing everything right and moving towards our goals.
So, how do you know that something is changing and exactly as we need? It’s very simple – things begin to happen in your life that you didn’t have before or were extremely rare.
You start to freak out – do “crazy little things”
For example, you constantly encounter someone at work. You greet with a slight nod of the head and do not show any particular attention to each other. And then suddenly you have an irresistible desire to get to know this person better. And immediately and as soon as possible.
As a rule, we ignore such thoughts and immediately drive away, because it looks rather strange in the eyes of other people. But not in our case. Now you are driven by some kind of intuition, you just feel in your gut that you need to talk with this person. You just know for sure that you have to do this, and you will do it.
It is still unknown what will happen next: perhaps you have a new friend at work, and perhaps it is this person who will inspire you for something or give valuable advice that will fundamentally change your whole life. The main thing is to be able to listen to the inner voice and trust your intuition.
Indeed, intuition is always with us. She whispers in her ear: “Stop, look, look around …” But we are usually too busy and distracted by external noise to hear, and most importantly, to believe. And if suddenly, for no reason, you started to “boggle”, that is, do some crazy little things under the influence of an internal impulse – something special and important happens. Even if you can’t explain it to yourself and don’t understand anything at all.
Your surroundings are changing
At a certain point in your life, you suddenly feel cut off from the people around you. Yesterday everything was fine, but today you are in the desert, even being in the crowd. You are perplexed and confused. After all, for years, they were friends with or even lived together, and then suddenly it is! It is painful and uncomfortable.
However, what is happening should not be scary: you simply gradually move away from people near whom you are no longer on the road and move towards others – those with whom you should meet. And this is necessary for something. Although today, you may not even understand what is happening.
The fact is that the best thing we can do in order to find happiness and harmony in life is to surround ourselves with the right people. And do it consciously. If you change your social circle, it means that your worldview, perception of life and your new role in it are also changing.
For example, today I am surrounded by completely different people than, for example, a year ago. They fill my life with new meaning, they are a direct reflection of who I am today, what I like and what not, what I aspire for and what I dream about. And these people feel me. And I – them. They believe in me. They inspire and motivate me to want more, and not be content with little. And most importantly – they teach me new things, discover me new things.
See also: 2 strategies that help maintain a long and happy relationship – science confirms
You are laughing at your negative thoughts instead of trying to correct them
There is no escape from negative thoughts: they, like annoying flies, constantly attack from all sides. These are nobody’s mind games, but they create a kind of fog around us and make it impossible to look beyond the horizon.
As a rule, before you tried unsuccessfully to drive them away from you, and it looked ridiculous. It’s like waving hands to get rid of flies on a sultry day. But if you find that recently reacting to such thoughts in a completely different way – just laughing, then this suggests that changes are coming. Something is changing, you are changing.
If in response to a rude joke of some asshole you just laugh – he remained fools. You did it! You have realized that our thoughts should not control us. That we manage them. And they live separately from us. They just fly from time to time and buzz nastyly over their ears. Keep laughing at them and they will disappear.
You feel brighter
If you think about it, then grapefruit has always been amazingly tasty. Nothing new happened to him. But why the hell do you suddenly discover its taste, like something magical and unusual? Enjoy every drop of juice, feel every fiber with your tongue …
The thing is that most people live – as if in a dream. Virtually unaware of what is happening around. Like robots. Go to work. Have dinner. Spread a couple of words with relatives and fall asleep. And so – day after day. Such a never-ending “Groundhog Day”.
If you feel the warm sunbeam gently touching your face when you go out, the indescribable taste of a peach or vegetable stew from the first spring vegetables, the game of muscles after training, then you no longer live “in a dream”. You have awakened to rejoice and enjoy the life of each of your cells.
You breathe life deeply and don’t take it so seriously anymore
In the end, everything passes, and after the rain – a rainbow appears.
Someone may not agree: “Yes, if everything was so simple – we would fly through life surrounded by unicorns and colorful flowers. What about the problems? And failures and illnesses? And the chaos reigning around? ” – they will object to me.
Our life is a struggle. Fight against obstacles, problems, failures. But it’s impossible to constantly fight. It’s impossible to constantly think only about a career, an unpaid mortgage, a strict boss, or what you don’t have. After all, this will not solve your problems. But all the most wonderful and magical in life you miss. Do not notice, pass by.
Yes, it is important to focus on your work, tasks and goals, self-improvement and the acquisition of new skills and good habits. But it’s important to be able to relax. Enjoy your time on Earth and a life that is truly beautiful. Enjoy, realizing that you are in some way imperfect, but at the same time know how much that is beyond the power of others.
Sometimes it is so important to be able to stop in the middle of this race for success and look around. You have the life here and now. Where do you chase? Together with everyone, because it is so accepted? This is silly.
Take a deep breath, face up to the sun. Feel the taste of life. Good?

How to synchronize both hemispheres of your brain? Everyday neuroscientist advice
You will need only 4 minutes!
Do you know the moments when everything is just perfect? Wouldn’t you like to experience as many of these moments as possible? Just imagine that you could do something daily that immediately:
increases your inner strength
relieves you of stress and tension,
improves thinking (makes both hemispheres of the brain work together),
calms the mind
fills the body with energy.
Now imagine that to get all these results you need to spend only a few minutes a day, without being tied to any place.
It is possible. This is an exercise called cross-movement.
Neuroscientists have long noticed that cross-body movements help to establish communication and coordinate the work of the left and right hemispheres of the human brain. This is very important, because the closer the relationship between them, the better you cope with the task before you.
The essence of cross movements is their multidirectional, when you move different parts of the body in opposite directions (crawling, walking or swimming). In this case, the opposite parts of your body work together (for example, coordination of the work of the right hand and left foot, and then the left hand and right foot).
Using cross motions strengthens the bridge between the right and left hemispheres of your brain, which contributes to the unhindered transmission of electrical impulses between them. This improves not only physical coordination, but also the processes associated with thinking: the ability to learn a foreign language, read and focus.
Neurophysiologist and Dr. Carla Hannaford says: “Cross movements like crawling a baby activate both hemispheres of the brain at once. When both eyes, both ears, both arms and both legs are used the same way, the coordination of these processes between the two hemispheres of the corpus callosum becomes more perfect. ” And sometimes this leads to amazing results.
In his book “The Wise Movement. We don’t only learn with our heads, ”Dr. Hannaford tells readers the story of Todd, 16, who never learned to read, despite the colossal efforts of his parents and himself.
You can imagine the seriousness of the situation – not being able to read, he would never have finished school, would never have gone to college and could not get a single job. His life would be a disaster.
Fortunately, the guy and his parents learned about the theory of cross motions. And the whole family began to do these exercises daily. They did this twice a day – once in the morning before school (work), and in the evening before going to bed.
After 6 weeks, Todd has already begun to read. At the entry level.
We tend to regard our physical body and mental abilities as two completely different things. But this is not so, they are closely related. Our biology is our life, and our life is our biology. And changing one thing, we automatically change another.
According to Dr. Hannaford, in the case of Todd, the reason for such a rapid transformation was that he already had in his head everything that he needed, but the two hemispheres simply did not communicate with each other. Using cross motions, he stimulated the corpus callosum connecting these hemispheres.
Adults can use these exercises for many purposes. So, due to their ability to calm and fill with energy, they are perfect for emotional discharge (say, after a tense conversation), and for the restoration of their energy reserves (before an important meeting).
This is one of the fastest and easiest ways to stimulate brain development and stabilize the nervous system. In fact, whenever you start to deal with them, this way you restore the integrity of your brain and nervous system. It is like an easy reboot for the body and mind.
But how is this magical exercise done?
The easiest way is a difficult march. Stand with your legs slightly apart and arms apart in opposite directions parallel to the floor. Move the center of gravity to the left leg, raise the right knee and touch it with your left hand. Stand on both legs again and immediately move the weight to the other side. Do it with a certain pace and rhythm, you can go to the music. Breathe to the fullest. Give this lesson 1-2 minutes (30 repetitions) twice a day. And remember: the point is not to achieve muscle fatigue, but to stimulate them.
You need a reliable, simple and at the same time effective strategy for not only managing stress, but also reaching your peak productivity. You should be able to use it when you really need it.
Are you planning an important meeting? Do the cross movement exercise.
Disappointed with the project or the words of someone close? Do the cross movement exercise.
Can’t put all the pieces of the mosaic together? Do the cross movement exercise.
This is one of the best ways to take care of yourself. It is free, simple and fast.

What 5 minutes of silence can do for your brain
A few minutes spent away from the noise and endless conversations about anything, it turns out that the brain began to work on a whole new level.
Sometimes just five minutes of silence is enough to bring you peace of mind, good mood and optimism. A few minutes spent away from the noise and endless conversations about anything, it turns out that the brain began to work on a whole new level. The results of scientific studies indicate that people, no matter how sociable they are, need periodic silence to stimulate the creation of new neurons and the connections between them.
To be honest, this is a very interesting topic. Almost all of us feel on a subconscious level that from time to time a little silence can only do us good. We say “from time to time” because the fact that a person is in complete silence and isolation for a long time extremely negatively affects the psyche.
People are social beings, and for a full life and growth, we need to interact with others and an environment full of various stimuli. But just like our brain needs all these conversations, music and spending time together, sometimes it needs silence, calmness and silence. This is not a whim at all, but a vital necessity, the same as eating or sleeping.
Five minutes of silence can change your brain.
And in order to get a piece of real silence and tranquility for our brain, in fact, we do not need to go somewhere to the ends of the world.
Silence helps the brain create new neurons
We live in a world filled to the brim with all kinds of noise. When we are at home, a TV usually works somewhere nearby, when we go somewhere, our favorite music is playing in the headphones, we are surrounded by the noise of engines and other people’s conversations in vehicles, and supposedly unobtrusive music is playing from the speakers in supermarkets … In short, we live in an environment where complete silence is practically unattainable, where sounds are an integral part of life, and they slowly absorb our mind.
But if we manage to surround ourselves with complete silence at least once a day, it will have an almost magical effect on the brain. One of the effects of silence is a significant acceleration of the formation of new neurons in the hippocampus – the area of the brain that is responsible for memory and emotions. And this, in turn, contributes to a greater clarity of thinking, as well as a better understanding of our environment and ourselves.
Silence improves empathy and susceptibility
But this is even more interesting. Many areas of the brain are responsible for empathy and susceptibility, one of which is the upper right dvuhlmie. When this area is damaged in any way, this leads to a sharp decrease in empathy, and, in addition to this, we begin to make decisions more slowly and show less interest in what surrounds us.
When we enjoy the peace of mind, or, for example, arrange a “five-minute silence” for ourselves, this significantly improves the functioning of the upper right dvuhmili. And this means that silence improves the brain’s ability to share other people’s feelings and enjoy the world around us.
Silence relieves stress and helps you make better decisions.
When our environment becomes too noisy, it activates the structure of the brain, called the “amygdala.” This tiny piece of the brain is part of our instinctive defense mechanism against threats, pointing out the dangers that surround us. And the amygdala takes as a threat any fairly loud sounds, for example, the noise of a street filled with cars. As a result, this part of the brain goes into a “protective mode”, increasing the level of stress in our body, increasing the production of cortisol.
Given the above, it is easy to understand why it is really worth giving yourself at least five minutes of peace and quiet per day. The results of a study published by the American Psychological Association indicate that silence not only significantly reduces stress levels in our bodies, but also contributes to the production of chemicals such as serotonin, endorphins and oxytocin – substances that somehow increase our mood …
Moreover, just a few minutes of silence greatly improves the feeling of well-being. We become much more confident in ourselves, perceive ourselves more positively, and as a result we begin to make more balanced and sound decisions. Thus, we simply cannot ignore the positive effect that silence has on cognitive processes.
***
So, silence improves our memory, helps to focus better, process information faster. We feel more aware of what is happening to us and around us, and ready for what can get in our way of life.
As Friedrich Nietzsche wrote, “the road to greatness always begins with silence.” So let’s learn at least from time to time to “turn off” the noisy and erratic outside world and use the silence we have received in order to go on a trip to our inner world. Believe me, when you return from these wanderings, you will not be the same.

3 priceless Zen truths about fear
“The source of all fears is our own uncontrollable mind, as well as its delusions.”
If the ego had an engine, fear would certainly be its fuel. No, we do not want to say that fear has no right to exist, but fear has its own time and place, and it is not worth letting it go beyond this framework.
Fear can both deprive us of our willpower, making us useless, and motivate us to change. By studying Zen Buddhism, we learn not only to overcome our fears, but also become fearless when it is really needed. This is called the “Lion roar” in zazen.
Leo is a living embodiment of a deep, independent of any force. The lion dominates everything that he sees, and he has enough courage, speed and strength to get everything that he wants. With all this, his behavior is regal and calm, he never threatens, and never cringes in fear. That is why the metaphor of the lion is used to describe the overcoming of fear in a collection of sutras, which discusses various aspects of the teachings of the Buddha.
Fear of death
One of the Zen masters Daisetsu Suzuki claims that the first fear that we must transcend and overcome is the fear of losing our physical body. The master believes that in fact this is a very superficial fear, and in looking for a way to get rid of it one should not look further than the bodily sensations that he brings with him. So, we experience a “sucking” sensation in the lower abdomen, the tongue dries out, and we feel our breath taking. However, if we rid the body of these sensations, then fear becomes completely meaningless.
What is the easiest way to overcome this fear? Suzuki points out that, when practicing zazen, one should strive to fill the lower abdomen with strength, try to breathe deeply and measuredly, keep the heartbeat under control and avoid excessive tension of the body muscles. And then, if the fear of death visits us, it can be easily recognized and expelled.
Fear of losing oneself
Some fears are not at all irrational – for example, the fear that visits us when we understand that in order to advance further on the spiritual path, our present self must die sooner or later. No matter how long we crave to reach a higher level of consciousness, we do not always accept the need to abandon for the sake of those habits, spiritual “crutches”, and all that makes up the present “us” and that helped to reach the current level. As the Sufi poet Rumi once said, “No one can reach the Shining Court without being previously destroyed.”
Most types of fear make us weak, gullible, and error prone. A fear-conscious mind trembles like a candle flame in the wind, and as a result, we not only cannot reach a state of complete peace of mind, but also fully engage in everyday activities.
But educating in ourselves 4 Zen states of mind, we can fill ourselves with strength and growl in the face of all our fears, like a lion.
4 states of mind:
Shoshin, or “The Beginner’s Mind” (初 心), is the first step towards becoming fearless. Think about the time when you were happy that you were starting something new, and were delighted with it. Yes, the path in front of you was full of the unknown, but that was what pleased you. You were overwhelmed with determination to cope with all the obstacles on the way, and you were not afraid of anything. This is what state of mind you should strive for in all aspects of your life. Instead of being nervous or afraid, you should strive to be open to the new and unknown, accepting everything that fate has prepared. In order to look at the world with a “beginner’s eye”, one needs to get rid of stereotypes and replace pessimism with optimism. And if you have already managed to achieve this sensation in any one area of life, over time you will be able to transfer it to other areas.
Fudoshin, or “Immovable Mind” (不 動心). This does not mean excessive, donkey stubbornness. This term primarily means the ability to be decisive and unshakable in the face of adversity. Will the lion run away from the first danger? Hardly. In addition, he will not be angry because of the obstacle in front of him or assume that he deserves it. He will be calm until his claws cry into the prey. If you can keep the “food shit” during your life’s adversities and troubles, nothing will stop you.
Mushin, or “The Absent Mind” (無心). When we are in the so-called “state of flow” while working or doing what we love, the state of mind in which we are is “mushin”. When we are free from thoughts, but move and act in accordance with the current moment, without fear, selfishness or other emotions, we become a force that can achieve almost anything. Learning to enter the “state of flow” and focus on the state of emptiness, free from thoughts, we cultivate the “mushin” in ourselves.
Zanshin (残 心) – this state of mind consists of two elements: in it you are both relaxed and maximally aware of what surrounds you. This is exactly the state of mind that martial arts masters strive for, as it allows them to instantly respond to any threat, no matter how quickly it appears. When you are in a “zanshin”, you are not afraid of any fear, no matter how strong the adversary may be.
Fear of suffering
Buddha taught that the root of most fears is our selfishness and ignorance. If we put aside healthy and understandable fears, then our desire to avoid suffering is fear of mistakes, fear of falling into a trap, getting lost and so on … In a word, all these fears have only one root, and all of them are generated by our mind.
Buddha once said: “The source of all fears is our own uncontrollable mind, as well as its delusions.”
In order to overcome this source of fears, great Zen masters teach to strive for the so-called great emptiness and denial of oneself. This does not mean that we should look at the world from the point of view of nihilism, not at all. Friedrich Nietzsche accused Buddhism of excessive existentialism, but in fact the Buddha taught to look for a middle way between the ordinary and the spiritual, seeing the world around him as real, but inextricably linked with suffering, and not at all as one could be content with. Instead of seeing everything that surrounds us empty and meaningless, we see the meaningless and empty vanity of everyday life, but we consider spiritual goals to be meaningful.
Do not forget that when the Buddha disposed of all his possessions, he realized that this did not make him closer to attaining Nirvana. He realized that exaggerated and ostentatious asceticism is not at all necessary to achieve true enlightenment. But having learned to get rid of our own fears, and realizing how to look them in the face, like a roaring lion, we become much closer to him than we thought possible.

10 mistakes that successful people never repeat twice
Winners have a good memory!
The psychologist and author of the book “Never Come Back: 10 Mistakes That Successful People Don’t Repeat Twice” Henry Cloud, observing successful people, noticed some “turning points” in their personal and professional lives. And when this happens, such personalities change. In other words, insight comes upon them.
Dr. Cloud says: “Once upon a time, my unsuccessful business decision led to a rather interesting conversation with my mentor. From personal and bitter experience, I learned a valuable lesson, but he reassured me: “All this has a good side: you will never repeat your mistake again.”
The psychologist was interested in what turning points in the lives of successful people change their approach to certain things, directing them to success in business, relationships and life in general. He devoted many years to his study of these turning points.
Dr. Cloud identified 10 “steps” of learning through which successful individuals go so that they never again repeat their mistakes.
So successful people never …
1. Do not return to what they did not succeed.
If leaving work or breaking up had a good reason, we should not repeat the same mistake in the future, expecting some other results.
2. Do not do what requires them to be someone else.
In everything that we do, we need to ask ourselves why we do it, whether we are suitable for such work, whether it is suitable for us and whether it brings stability to our lives.
3. Do not try to change another person.
When you finally realize that you are not able to change another person, you give him freedom, allowing you to deal with the consequences. So you also gain freedom.
4. They do not believe that they can please everyone.
As soon as you understand that it is impossible to please everyone, your life will be filled with meaning and desire to help only those who deserve it.
Read also: Read this Winston Churchill phrase about success – it can change lives
5. Do not choose short-term comfort instead of long-term benefits.
As soon as a successful person understands that he wants something that requires decisive, but painful steps, he goes for it, knowing that in the end all his efforts will pay off.
Life, built on this principle, is one of the main fundamental differences between successful people and losers, both personally and professionally.
6. Do not trust the “ideal” people and things.
Our attraction to “incredible” things and people is completely natural. We like perfection, and therefore we are in constant search for it. We are attracted to us by professionals and outstanding workers, dates with exceptional partners, friendship with bright personalities and successful companies.
But if someone or something looks too good to be true, let it go. The world is imperfect. No one and nothing is without flaws, and if you think that there are no flaws, you need to be alert.
7. Do not take your eyes off the big picture.
The emotional state and productivity of a person depend on whether he is able to see the picture in general. For successful individuals, each event is only part of a single story. Winners always remember this.
8. Do not neglect the analysis.
No matter how good something looks externally, a deeper and more objective analysis is always required of you if you want to understand the real situation.
The objectivity of our reality depends on the objectivity of our assessment.
9. Do not be afraid to ask why they are where they are.
One of the biggest differences between successful people and everyone else is that in business, in love, and in life in general, successful individuals always ask themselves what role they play in a given situation. In other words, she does not consider herself a victim.
Never make excuses for who you are and where you are.
10. Do not forget that their inner life determines external successes.
A good life sometimes has nothing to do with external circumstances. As a rule, inside we are happy and satisfied with who we are. Scientific research has proven this. It is our inner life that largely shapes external circumstances.
The reverse is equally true: people who are actively, but unsuccessfully, trying to find their happiness, almost certainly make one of the above errors. Everyone is mistaken, even the most successful among us. But what successful people do better than others is to determine the reasons that led to these errors and no longer allow them. In short, they learn from suffering – both their own and those of others.
It is advisable to never forget that pain is inevitable, however, to avoid its repetition is quite realistic, especially if you try to do everything differently. As the saying goes, “we don’t need new ways to make mistakes, because the old ones work just fine!” Our task is to notice these errors and not to repeat them in the future.

17 things to stop thinking about all the time
Some questions are best left unanswered. Life and time will put everything in its place.
1. Whether you love someone or not. In fact, this is not a question that must be answered. In the end, whether you realize it or not, you have a clear answer inside. Starting to think about it all the time, you fall into the trap.
2. Is your love a lifelong person with whom you began a relationship? You do not have to understand it right now! There is no timeline for such things.
There is no such moment when you must definitely feel ready to take some kind of decision for life. Say more, some people throughout their life can’t feel such confidence. They are too categorical, which gives reason to suspect the presence of a certain degree of uncertainty in them.
You too can doubt it, but you don’t have to go to extremes. If you look too hard for an answer, you can never make a decision.
3. The everyday contradictions that arise with those around you, contrary to your fears, mean nothing. Sometimes people are really busy, sometimes they just don’t have the mood to communicate. When we notice such things, we usually immediately start to panic. But more often than not, all these not-so-pleasant signals have no double meaning. They mean exactly what they mean.
4. How you look at every moment of your life. The way people perceive you is usually the result of their own imagination and superficial imagination. In fact, it does not say anything about you present.
5. The difference between what people say and what they mean. Indeed, people do not always mean what they say, but usually we can easily determine those moments when they are not completely honest with us. You understand this by your inner feeling or by their body language, when they look down or demonstrate insecurity with all their behavior.
Most often you read the real meaning of their message, even if they do not express it in words. But if you ignore these signals, you will have to constantly think about what people really want to tell you.
6. The great meaning of the universe. To paraphrase a well-known saying, let’s say that the matter is time, and the hour of reflection on the incomprehensible Universe. Sometimes it’s worth just letting the Universe be the way it is and not all the time be amazed at the vastness, mystery and unknownness of the possibilities that hover around us. Sometimes thoughts of such things rather exhaust us than inspire us.
7. Your place in this world. The only place that really is yours is where you are right now. And if you want to change, then just take a step to the side and take a seat located nearby.
There is no contradiction between right and wrong when it comes to where you should be in life. The mind can deceive you, but your reality is never.
See also: A simple test from billionaire Charles Munger to determine who you can trust
8. Are you happy or not. If you start to think excessively about this, you will find that there is really little happiness in your life. In fact, you don’t have to devote all your time to identifying deficiencies in your life — you cannot fix them all.
Sometimes you just need to be able to enjoy what you have, that is, you must allow yourself to feel happy. This is not a state of mind, which you achieve when everything is perfect for you – no, for this you just need to make a decision to love what you have and immerse yourself in the messy, beautifully imperfect puzzle that life is.
9. When you made the wrong decision. Such thoughts will not give you absolutely nothing. Finding out why you made this decision won’t work either. Therefore, use your time and energy to find out if the time has come to take the next step in your life or if you better wait a while. And then you will understand whether you enjoy your life as it is or not.
10. Your success at work. You will never receive irrevocable confirmation that you are doing your job well. Sometimes you just have to do everything in your power and observe how circumstances develop that are beyond your control. Attempts to find out the true opinion of each employee about what you are doing will not allow you to become better, but simply drive you crazy.
11. Painstaking digging is why something didn’t work. Understand that it doesn’t matter anymore. Of course, you definitely need to take some time to analyze, which will contribute to your growth and will avoid such errors in the future. But otherwise, the constant obsession with your wrong actions will simply bury you in your own sadness.
12. The way those around you determine. Labels and stereotypes are not a definition of who you are, they are simply ideas people use to help them identify you. Naturally, such characteristics should not have a decisive influence on how you perceive yourself.
13. Jokes. Sometimes people don’t understand that a joke is just a joke, and all they need to do is just enjoy it. You will stop laughing if you start looking all the time for a deeper meaning in every word that someone mutters.
14. Each little thing hides a deeper spiritual or philosophical meaning. The secret of magic in many ways is to remain unaware of certain things. In the end, you will never know what you are not supposed to know.
If knowledge of something remains hidden for you, then there is a reason. Enjoy this secret.
15. Writing a letter. Sometimes we just focus on composing the perfect letter, although when it reaches the addressee, they simply scan it quickly and immediately forget about it.
Of course, careful word selection or comprehension of what you want to say matters. But fixation on such things, which completely prevents you from sending an email, is just stupid.
16. That your page on the social network tells a lot about you. Probably, many will not agree, but the person who literally lives in social networks is driven by the hypertrophied idea that identification depends on how other people perceive us.
17. What would your former self think about you now? We all have such moments when we think: I would be so disappointed five years ago … I would be so surprised five years ago … Forget about the old “yourself”, it has left you for a reason.
The new “you” also makes decisions for a reason, therefore, respect both who you were and who you became.

7 small habits that will radically change your life
The ability to listen, and most importantly to hear, is the most powerful tool in the art of building relationships with other people. Unfortunately, we often forget about this, trying at all costs to convey our thoughts.
Happiness and success directly depend on how constructive our thinking will be, firm intentions and strong relationships. Too complicated and too many conditions? Don’t be alarmed: the good news is that we have control over all of these things. We are not passive observers in this “theater of life.” And that means we can choose the changes, even if they are very small, which will greatly change our whole life.
So, we present the most effective changes that will change a lot.
1. Watch your thoughts.
Thoughts control your emotions and feelings. And your feelings, in turn, determine your actions and actions.
The fact is that you will never gain self-confidence if you constantly doubt your thoughts. “I’m not good enough for this,” “I can’t afford such a high standard,” “I don’t have enough knowledge and experience for this task” – such installations block a person’s ability to go forward and achieve success.
It is not surprising that your self-doubt is transmitted to others. They literally hear your inner dialogue and decide: “If this person is not self-confident, can he be counted on and taken seriously?”
Reprogramming thinking requires time, and often considerable. But aren’t you in a hurry? Moreover, the game is worth the candle. So, the first step in this direction is a kind of introspection with the aim of revising your own self-esteem. You must be clearly aware and capture your thoughts. Ask yourself: “What is on my mind now and why? Do my thoughts really help, or vice versa – do they harm and prevent me from acting? ”
Take a break. Stop and think carefully before answering this question. Rebooting will certainly help: you will gain confidence, determination and a positive outlook on things.
2. Separate your feelings from what you are doing.
Take the time to realize what you really feel. Watching your thoughts does not mean hiding or ignoring your feelings. They exist, and you must admit it. But at the same time, separate feelings from actions: your actions are exclusively your choice and your decision.
For example, if I work with a colleague on a complex and interesting project, and at some point I understand that it not only does not help me, but, on the contrary, slows down, then this is not a defeat. Yes, I admit that I am upset and disappointed, but then I sit down and think about how to deal with this. After all, you can always come up with something, and not rush to extremes.
Or another example: your friend constantly promises something and does not keep his words. At the same time, he is a magnificent person, treats you very well, but is optional and punctual. How to proceed? Do not pay attention to this “peculiarity” of him, hold a grudge, break off relations with him or … The answer is simple: talk to him directly and openly about how his behavior affects your relationship. In this case, you will at least have a chance to convey what you feel, to warn that if a break occurs, it is his fault.
Your actions should not be determined by your feelings and emotions, but by your mind.
3. Stop constantly comparing.
There will always be someone more successful in life than you, more lucky. Someone will have better starting conditions, more money and innate talents. But this does not mean that you should compare yourself with them and be upset.
This “comparison game” will never end. Nobody has come out of it as a winner. The fact is that the bar will constantly rise, and you will jump up to exhaustion. So you must set your own bar based on what is the starting point, progress already made and the ultimate goal.
As a working mother, I always worried that I did not spend enough time on children or work. And that means – I will lose on both fronts. And only with time I realized that whether you are a good mother or not, does not depend on how many times you run to school for parental meetings. It is important for me that my boys are happy and happy, and not to compare themselves with mothers who have more free time.
You must clearly prioritize what is really valuable and important, and what is imposed by the stereotypes that exist in society. Only you determine what a real achievement is based on its value, the distance traveled and the starting point.
4. Plan your day every morning.
Time is our biggest asset. If we live consciously, rationally use it, then the chances of living the life we want are much greater. Therefore, how you start every day determines what your whole life will be like.
Take a few minutes in the morning to think about how you want to spend your day: what should be your thoughts, activities, small steps in the direction of your dreams. Prayer, meditation, exercise and planned pauses for reflection in silence – all this has a huge impact on your day, week and even years.
Planning time and even thoughts is one of the first steps to get rid of worries and anxieties. And that means a better life. For example, the most important decisions and changes in my life took place precisely after I took the time to think in a calm environment, what I really want.
Find some kind of secluded and quiet place where nothing will distract you (just not the kitchen!) And just think about life, about yourself, about what makes you happy and what is vice versa.
See also: A simple test from billionaire Charles Munger to determine who you can trust
5. Do something new every week.
As a rule, all our days and habits are predictable. We are moving along the track, so it would be naive to believe that something in our life will change. Therefore, try to do at least something tiny every week (if you are really busy), but new.
For example, my friend proclaimed for herself “the year of life in a different way.” She enrolled in cooking classes, changed the design and decoration of the house, planned and carried out several trips, and also was fond of fishing. It seems to be nothing special, but how exciting it was and changed her life! Moreover, all this would never have happened if it had not been for the “year of life in a different way”. And what prevents each of us from declaring “a month of life differently”? Or even a year?
Do not live bored, do not live gray and monotonous. Always try something new that you have never done before. It may be something very small. For example, the habit of watching an interesting and inspiring presentation by a TED conference while making breakfast. Or even experiments with cooking meat and vegetables on the grill. There are many options. It would be a desire! See how much energy and motivation you have, how many new and interesting things you will discover!
6. Learn to listen, not just talk
The ability to listen, and most importantly to hear, is the most effective and powerful tool in the art of building relationships with other people. Unfortunately, we often forget about this, trying at all costs to convey our thoughts.
But the modern world is changing literally every day. How do you learn something new if you do not listen to others? From books and articles? I’m afraid you’ll completely come off reality. Because real life is in daily contact and communication.
Ask questions and really listen during the conversation, rather than scrolling through your head what you are going to say next. Your sincere and genuine attention is the biggest compliment you can give to another person. In addition, you will not be left without a bonus – you will learn something new and really important.
7. Get rid of the desire to always be right
Do you want to be always right or still happy? In your desire to have your last word, you can destroy the strongest and most healthy relationships. Perhaps your ego will be flattered when you prove with foam at the mouth that the interlocutor is wrong, but why assert oneself at the expense of other people? Especially when they are loved and dear.
Ask yourself: “Is my opinion the only right one? But what if there are several answers? Perhaps in what the interlocutor says there is a rational kernel? ”
Of course, standing your ground and defending your own point of view is important. But only when it comes to some fundamentally important things and values for you. But not during the discussion of working moments or the debate about the color of the curtains in the living room.
Learn to hear other people – their thoughts can be no less valuable than yours. If you get rid of the desire to always be right, then life will change for the better. After all, what kind of joy is “winning the battle, but losing the war”?

How men specifically make women jealous
When a lot of jealousy, it can destroy the relationship. But in small quantities it is even normal and fun. And many men sometimes even specifically make their girlfriend jealous, and here’s how:
1. He mentions his ex.
Usually this relates to what she did, but you don’t do, or about the quality that she had, but you don’t. Sometimes a man can remember the former, just to see how jealous you are, which means how strong your feelings for him are.
2. He deliberately waits for time before answering your message.
Girls do that, but it turns out men do too! They know how important a quick response is to you, because when they want to make them nervous and jealous, they can put off the answer to your message.
3. He writes to someone in the middle of a date.
Yes, some are rude enough to do this without even realizing it. Maybe they want to show their importance as if they have a lot of fans. And some do it on purpose to make him nervous, jealous that he is paying attention to something or someone else. They are especially fun to watch how brave the girl is to ask who they are writing to.
4. He pretends to be crazy about some celebrity.
Men know that women can be jealous even of distant stars, so they can focus on how much they admire some actress, singer or model.
5. He is hugging with a girlfriend.
Usually a man chooses such a move when he really wants to make you jealous. Then he just hugs his little friend a little longer, and maybe your girlfriend. For a couple of seconds, but he knows that you notice how long he hugs someone.
6. He says he had a good time without you.
If a man wants to make you jealous, he can enthusiastically tell how he spent time with friends or where you could not or did not want to go.

How to use psychology to fall in love with someone
There is nothing wrong with using your head in order to get someone’s heart.
Love is a mixture of good luck, “chemistry”, the right time and science. Yes, there are certain scientific points that may work in your favor if you want to help someone fall in love with you.
Love is not only to find someone who will like you, but also with whom you are compatible, with whom you have the same goals and values. But there are some psychological tricks to help someone fall in love with you.
1. Make sure that you are the kind of woman he is looking for.
Find out his interests, values, principles. Not that you have to change yourself or adapt to it. But if you see that you are suitable for him, then focus on the right moments, so that he clearly noticed and understood this.
2. Identify what he lacks in life, and fill this gap.
For example, if he lacks confidence, show your confidence. You will attract him by the fact that he wants to become the same.
3. Be mysterious.
Do not tell him everything about yourself right away on your first date. Give him bits of information so he wants more. Everyone loves riddles, keep the intrigue.
4. Be affordable, but not much.
The more positive things he has with you, the more he will want to spend time with you. People do not want what is given to them easily, so sometimes be inaccessible. But do not step aside so that he decides that he is not interesting to you. Just show that you have a busy life.
5. Do not show that you are trying too hard to please.
If you seem desperate, you scare the man away. It’s okay to show your interest, but don’t be obsessed or needy.
6. Repeat his movements.
It may not be so obvious, but light symmetrical movements subconsciously let a person understand that you are as if on the same wavelength. If he leans forward when he says something, do so too. He straightens his hair – you too.

Best George Orwell Quotes
George Orwell, was an English novelist, essayist and journalist. He is probably best known for the novels Animal Farm and 1984. George Orwell was a man of strong opinions who addressed some of the major political movements of his times, including imperialism, fascism and communism.
In his popular novel 1984 which was written in 1948, Orwell gave it’s readers a dark glimpse into what would happen if a government controlled every detail of a person’s life even down to their own private thoughts. In popular his earlier novel Animal Farm, the book tells the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy. Ultimately, the rebellion is betrayed, and the farm ends up in a state as bad as it was before.
I first read Animal Farm at a very young age while in school and I was enthralled by the story and its characters. I read this little novel again many years later and was once again enthralled by it.
I hope that you will enjoy this collection of thought provoking George Orwell quotes.

1984 Quotes
1. Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.
2. It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen.
3. What can you do, thought Winston, against the lunatic who is more intelligent than yourself; who gives your arguments a fair hearing and simply persists in his lunacy?
4. Perhaps one did not want to be loved so much as to be understood.
5. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face – for ever.
6. If you want to keep a secret, you must also hide it from yourself.
7. Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.
8. Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious.
9. Nothing was your own except the few cubic centimeters inside your skull.
10. If you loved someone, you loved him, and when you had nothing else to give, you still gave him love.
11. Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.
12. Big Brother is Watching You.
13. It’s a beautiful thing, the destruction of words.
14. Of pain you could wish only one thing: that it should stop. Nothing in the world was so bad as physical pain. In the face of pain there are no heroes.
15. The object of terrorism is terrorism. The object of oppression is oppression. The object of torture is torture. The object of murder is murder. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?
16. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship.
17. Never again will you be capable of ordinary human feeling. Everything will be dead inside you. Never again will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or curiosity, or courage, or integrity. You will be hollow. We shall squeeze you empty, and then we shall fill you with ourselves.
