Frito Lay Tortilla Chips - Eggs Benedict from Japan! I love Eggs Benedict and Doritos so this was a no brainer. I was surprised when I opened the bag at the mini size of these chips. Guess it pays to read descriptions before blindly buying. Well there's always the flavor... that creamy spiced hollandaise sauce... OK these lack that flavor as well. Are they crunchy? PLEASE tell me they are at least crunchy... Few, they are crunchy AND salty! Overall nothing special here. The flavor tastes like what I would imagine stale honey mustard would taste like.

Why You Need to Check Out The Cold (aka The Game) Rubber skeletons, shark fins, Alien knockoff, hanging dummies; am I describing a Girl Scouts sponsored haunted house or quite possibly the best literal haunted house movie? If either one has you intrigued, then you must check out Bill Rebane's The Cold! Known for some of cinema's schlockiest contributions, Bill Rebane has literally taken the concept of a homemade haunted house and turned it into a movie. Released in 1984, The Cold involves some millionaires who invite people to spend the night in a mansion. If they stay and conquer their fears, they get... one million dollars! For the millionaires, it is one big game as they try to scare their guests out of their minds (and the mansion). Throw in a "classy" disco dance scene and a sort of twist ending and you got a truly great, bad movie. You can check it out on www.Shudder.com or even over on YouTube.

Kyushu Soy Sauce Cheetos from Japan!
I came home after work to a lovely package from NapaJapan.com which included a few different salty snack treats. Kyushu Soy Sauce Cheetos are a new flavor that pays tribute to soy sauce from the tropical island of Kyushu, which evidently is where the best soy sauce in the world is located. Lets see how they taste…
These Cheetos have a nice light golden brown color. The flavor is a nice mild soy sauce flavor with a hint of chicken. They almost taste like chicken yakitori with a slight creaminess.
Definitely worth picking up if you are a fan of any of the above flavor profiles!

Quechee Gorge Village in Quechee, VT is like Disney World for old people. It is an area of commerce that includes a diner, Cabot cheese shop, country store, shops, a large antique store, and a toy museum…scratch that, it’s a place for old people and nostalgia junkies! Where else can you buy a block of everything bagel cheese and View-Master discs of King Kong Lives!?! On a recent visit I decided to explore the Antique Mall and snap some pictures of the more interesting items for sale. Enjoy!

I love Ecto Cooler and I have the doomsday prepper stockpile in my basement to prove it! I also love using my electric smoker and decided to try combining the two. The results: PURE AWESOMENESS! I do plan on adjusting my recipe a little bit to try and get more of that tart citrus flavor Ecto Cooler is famous for (maybe inject the meat with Ecto Cooler?!?). Here's what I did below: Ingredients 3 - 6 cans of Ecto Cooler 1 whole chicken Goya Adobo spice blend Salt Hickory wood chips (or any that add a mild flavor) Steps 1st, empty 2 - 4 cans of the Ecto Cooler into a large ziplock bag or bowl with a tight lid. 2nd, add a healthy dose of Adobo spice blend to the Ecto Cooler and a some salt (this helps with flavoring and brining the chicken to keep it from drying out) 3rd, place the whole chicken in this concoction and stick it in the fridge to marinade 4 - 8 hours or overnight. 4th, take out the chicken and marvel at the green glow (he's an ugly little spud, isn't he?)! Split the chicken so you can lay it flat by removing the neck and spine bone. Dust the chicken with some Adobo spice blend. 5th, prep the smoker. Add the remaining 1 - 2 cans of Ecto Cooler to the water pan. Set the temperature at 250 degrees F. 6th, once the smoker is prepped, place the chicken in and monitor internal temperature until it reaches 165 - 170 degrees F. ENJOY! My next plan is to try beer can chicken, but with Ecto Cooler and to try adding some lime juice and injection to the above recipe along with some basting!

I have subscribed and canceled many, MANY monthly subscription boxes over the past couple of years. Some just do not seem to live up to their promise of delivering quality content. Thankfully Nerd Block's Horror Block has been the exception. I have yet to receive a box that was a "dud," let alone three in a row (sorry Loot Crate, your broad net idea does not catch all fish). While April's Horror Block is not my favorite one, it still delivers some great items at a great price. The Nosferatu shirt design is awesome (I just wish it wasn't white...I might need to attend a GWAR show to fix this), the Scream pin is classic, and the mini Ash is cool, even if I never pick up the Evil Dead board game. I love when Nerd Block throws in DVD's; they usually include overlooked independent movies or forgotten guilty pleasures. The inclusion of Rue Morgue magazine is another high note. I originally regarded this magazine as filler when I got my first Horror Block, but then I read it... Rue Morgue is like a bloodier, less commercial, more anarchistic Fangoria. They cover everything from VHS sleaze to upcoming horror films, both independent and mainstream. The only dud for me this month is the Court of the Dead poster book. It's just not my style of art. Be sure to go to www.nerdblock.com/horror and subscribe! Prices range from $19.99 - $15.99 a month, plus shipping depending on the plan you select.

Another fun feature of Tatooine Traders, located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the Build and Name Your Own Droid section. For this you get to choose from various body styles, heads, legs , and hats to create your own droid. Since halfway to Halloween was just around the corner, I had to make a pair of Halloween droids. You also get a cool reusable package with stickers to name your droids. Priced at $12.95 for one or two for $21.95, you and your kids (or big kids) can make some affordable memories!

Being a Star Wars fan, I had to take the opportunity to build my own lightsaber while I was at Disney World! The Star Wars Build Your Own Lightsaber is located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Tatooine Traders store (which the ride Star Tours conveniently exits into). $25 - $50 bucks and a creative imagination will get you a chance to create your own personal lightsaber. You also get a personal guide to help show you how to put the parts together and help you if you are going for a specific look. The staff was extremely knowledgeable, throwing in subtle jokes here and there (“Kylo Ren would love that lightsaber! You should show it to him, he is constantly in need of new ones because….you know, he tends to break them… a lot”). For a great one of a kind experience and a decent lightsaber, the Star Wars Build Your Own Lightsaber is well worth it!

I stumbled upon these Star Wars Finders Keepers Milk Chocolate and Surprise treats at Cracker Barrel. They instantly reminded me of Kinder Eggs; those lovable milk and chocolate eggs with a toy surprise inside! I was curious to see how Finders Keepers would get around the FDA law that states no food item shall contain non edible substances (even if it is a plastic capsule inside a chocolate egg). As you can see the chocolate egg and toy capsule are separate, which has me wondering if this is sold in other countries, and if so, is the toy capsule in the egg? The toys are a mixed bag. some look awesome....while others look a little...odd. The chocolate egg is god awful. Think if Palmer chocolate and wax lips were to have a child...

With May 4th around the corner, I figured I better start posting some Star Wars related images, reviews, and other nonsense! Honestly, I love this trend of "find a date that connects with a movie/franchise" in order to create pseudo holidays. Anything to help bridge that long gap until the Halloween season is greatly appreciated! Above is a picture of the souvenir drink holder you can get in Disney's Hollywood Studios. I am somewhat obsessed with BB-8 so this was right up my alley. The price was $14.99 which I'll admit is a bit steep, but considering the amount of detail (I love the painted on dirt and grime and yes, that IS painted on) and the fact that when you screw the top on the circles and paint match up, I am willing to look the other way.

McDonald's and Nintendo have teamed up again to bring some Super Mario Bros. goodness to Happy Meals! The "Discover the World of Super Mario" Happy Meal comes with one of 8 toys. The toys are unique with some cool features. The Happy Meal box is lacking though. No games, cut outs, or puzzles here, just one side dedicated to Mario. McDonald's did add Yoshi to their apple slices packaging (fitting right?) and Mario to their milk packaging. Food...it's still McDonald's.

Return to Disney Final Summary: The trip was a success. My wife is now a big fan of Disney World. We have begun planning our next trip already. This was no small feat. My wife had no interest in going to Disney World in the first place. I was able to get her to agree to a short, 3 day (1 full day, 2 part days) trip. I was able to turn this short trip into a magical experience for my wife. I will now pass on some wisdom for anyone else who faces a similar challenge. 1.) Plan. Don't plan every single move, but plan the important ones. Make a list that includes must see attractions, nice to see attractions, and OK to miss. Narrow this list down and keep it flexible for changes. 2.) Pacing. Pacing is key. Adjust the pace your moving at based on your significant other. Do they like going balls to the wall, or do they prefer a more relaxed pace? Why not try hitting the parks when they open, head back to the hotel for swimming in the pool during the hot afternoon, and returning back to the parks at night? Feel free to seek out quiet spots to relax, eat, and visit in the parks. These area's can be found all over. Whether it's a bench under a tree or tables and chairs outside of a quick service restaurant; a breather for visiting is key to add to the enjoyment. 3.) Food. Just because Disney parks are theme parks does not mean you have to eat deep fried theme park food. Look up restaurant menu's before you go for each park and make notes of what type of food is served where. You'll be surprised at some of the food choices at the quick service restaurants! You may also be surprised at the prices. A good meal can be had for under 15 bucks. My wife and I ate the food we wanted to eat while only spending a grand total of 126 dollars for our 3 day trip on food. We ate in the park for almost every meal and some snacks. That's not bad in comparison to other theme park prices. Best part, we enjoyed the food too! Now the sit down restaurants can get pricey, it all depends on the experience you are looking for. 4.) Explore outside of the parks. Disney World is huge and loaded with awesome places to visit. You do not even have to go into a park to experience some of these places. For example, each resort has their own attractions, restaurants, bars, and unique setting. You can take a bus, monorail, or boat to visit. Feel free to explore, you might find a relaxing piano bar, jazz session, or a crazy tiki bar! You can put on night vision goggles and check out animals at Disney's Wilderness Lodge ( http://www.wdwforgrownups.com/articles/top-5-things-love-about-disney’s-animal-kingdom-lodge ) at no extra charge! Search online for resort experiences to see what is out there. 5.) Ask/seek guidance. Disney can be overwhelming your first time. You could end up having an experience like my wife when she was younger that included large crowds, long lines, crappy overpriced food; a recipe for a miserable time. Check out some podcasts on Disney World like the Drunk on Disney podcast ( http://drunkondisney.blogspot.com/?m=1 ) or past episodes of the Disney Hipster podcast ( http://www.disneyhipsters.com/?m=1 ) for some tips. Feel free to reach out to Disney blogs and podcasts with questions about planning your upcoming trip. Most people who are passionate about Disney World are eager to help out. That should be enough to get you going on planning a great Disney World trip. The blog will now return to micro blogs about nonsense!
