Rats are good 💕 by @EcdUu
A fanart of @mocomoco_OvO's Shio-chan:
Apparently, our pet Shio-chan is making a buzz overseas🥹💗
She's now 2 years old and I've started taking care of her, but I'm so happy that so many people can see how cute she is✨
Rats are great...!!

You have some choices to make now.
If you want to continue caring for rats long term then you should take some time to grieve your lost girl but ultimately look into adopting a friend for her surviving girlfriend. I personally like to adopt rats two at a time in case introductions don't immediately go well, but whatever you decide you should try for one who's around the same age as the girl you have left. If she's older you don't want to try to pair her with a baby rat who will annoy her. Find some guides on how to introduce new rats to each other, I prefer the carrier method myself.
If you're at a point where you want to move on from rats that's ok too, but it's not the best idea to keep your surviving girl alone. It's better to try and rehome her to another rat owner sooner than later so she can live out her retirement with her own kind. I find Facebook marketplace groups to be a good tool for rehoming (or adopting) no matter where you live, but be thorough in your screening process to make sure she goes somewhere that will take good care of her. If she's dramatically on the older side it can be acceptable to keep her alone through the rest of her life, but this is only a last resort if no one can take her. Give her way WAY more attention than before and make sure she's comfy.
My condolences on losing a loved one. Remember that rats don't experience time like humans do and two years for you is a lifetime to them. Part of your heart dies when a rat does, and when new rats enter your life new parts of your heart grow that you never imagined you'd have. In that way your experience with love will be constantly evolving with your pod. That's my favorite part of having rats.
My rat just passed away and now her girlfriend is alone 💔 These are my first rats idk what to do now.

TIL that New York City has a genetically diverse rat population. ‘Uptown’ rats are different from ‘Downtown’ rats, and every neighborhood has their own distinct rats.
