Yay finally! A post about patterns. For some reason they are so hard to find info on :(
Aspect Patterns
A grand trine pattern is formed by three planets positioned approximately 120 degrees apart around the circle. This is an aspect of ease and flow, conceptual and interpretive ability; of service, and sensitivity to the senses rather than sensuality. It denotes the ability to feel compassion. Can be apathetic and indifferent to responsibilities if there are not enough challenging aspects in the pattern.
A minor grand trine is a trine with a planet at the midpoint, making a sextile to each end of the trine. It is an easy flow and natural ability, much as the grand trine. It may be of lesser strength, depending upon which planets are involved and their overall ‘weight’ in the chart. So the sun, moon or chart ruler [ruler of the ascendant] would make it much more powerful and significant.
The mystic trine is another quite similar pattern, where a trine is divided by a planet making a quintile to one planet of the trine and a septile to the other. This is an exceptionally fortunate pattern, because the natural ease of the trine is enhanced with the remarkable creativity and talent of the quintile, and charged with the sense of destiny or divine purpose implied by the septile. There is an indication of great potential for creativity, growth and accomplishment within this pattern.
The grand cross, four planets positioned 90 degrees apart around the circle, is a rare and powerful pattern. It is the most rooted and stable of patterns, giving great sensual, practical, and psychic intuition. Potentially a stable structure around which the universe revolves. It can be a source of strength and stability, but also may tend to be self-defeating because of the urge to go in several directions at once, thereby going nowhere.
The wedge is two planets opposed, with another forming a 60/120 degree aspect to the opposition. A pattern of mental work and service, given more to sensitivity than sensuality. Receptivity and awareness of others and of one’s surroundings is indicated. Willing to serve, verbal and social.
The yod is formed by two [or more] planets in sextile [60 degrees] to each other, each forming a quincunx [150 degrees] to a third planet. It is sometimes called the ‘Finger of Fate’, or the ‘Finger of God’, and its meaning has to do with destiny. It creates a continuous need for adjustment with relation to the planet that is in quincunx to the other two, or to which the 'finger’ is pointing.
A T-square is two planets in opposition, with a third at right angles to both. A powerful pattern on the physical, sensual, and psychic levels. Indicates the ability to sense, intuit, and know things. A strong incarnation, rooted in the practical and the social. May experience cycles of crisis involving the “squared” planet.
A grand sextile is a pattern which includes six connected sextiles, in other words, forms a symmetrical hexagon. This is a very auspicious pattern, a life of great ease and opportunity, but there is danger of a lack of motivation due to not enough challenge in the life. Potentially very creative, there is virtually nothing this person can’t manifest with ease. Extremely gifted.
Mystic rectangle is four planets set 60/120/60/120 apart. A classic pattern pointing to verbal and mental abilities. Sensitive and service-oriented. Sometimes indicates mental syndromes visible to others but hard for the person with the pattern to solve.

Not so minor points pt.1
Juno- How do you handle committed relationships? This position shows your patterns of commitment and what would truly get you to commit without fear. She rules marriage, serious relationships, and outer unions.
Ceres- What brings out your inner nurturer? Ceres rules what we deeply care about and want to protect. She is our mothering aspect, pointing us to where we crave to pour our soul into and nurture.
Pallas (Athene)- How do you approach solving problems that seem too big to handle? She rules our creative thinking in how to take steps toward achieving our goals. She is where we mentally jump into warrior mode to attack our problems head on instead of hiding from them in fear.
Chiron- Where is the deepest wound you carry? This shows where we have wounded ourselves and when faced with healing this wound, thus starts our spiritual journey. Many say this wound can not be healed, but that is defeating. This wound can most definitely be healed, it just takes a lot of self-discovery and acceptance which is why it sparks a spiritual journey.
Vesta- What is most sacred to you? Vesta rules our deepest self-commitment. She is the keeper of the fire of life and the sworn celibate priestess. She rules sacred sexuality and shows us how we express our sexuality on a spiritual level. She shows what we view as holy, and what we commit ourselves to throughout a lifetime.
Part of Fortune- What area of life will bring you the most success? This rules the area that we are most fortunate in, whether it is obvious or not. It can point to what attitudes one needs to cultivate in order to integrate harmony between your sun, moon, and ascendant, therefor releasing that beneficial energy.

The Part of Fortune in the Signs
The Part of Fortune is the part of your chart which is the same aspect from the moon as your ascendant is from your sun. You may often be drawn to your Part of Fortune and have a natural talent in it without knowing why, or where it’s come from! I read once that the Part of Fortune, because it derives from the placements of your Sun, Moon and Ascendant, is the ultimate end-goal of all the integral parts of your personality.
The house placement of your Part of Fortune is the area in your life where you will find the most happiness and satisfaction; it’s often representative of a career or task that you would find a lot of joy in personally. The sign placement of your Part of Fortune is how you get to that place and I’ll be looking at the sign placements in this post.
ARIES – To reach your Part of Fortune, you have to nurture patience and planning; not everything will come quickly (this is intensified if your Saturn aspects the Part of Fortune or is in Aries as well). Pursue opportunities when you get them, you will already be somewhat of a ‘pioneer’ – you should encourage it! Barack Obama has Part of Fortune in Aries and manifests it by being the first black president, overcoming obstacles and being a pioneer in the respect of overcoming racial barriers to become a President of the US.
TAURUS – To reach your Part of Fortune, you have to look past the material; study things which you cannot quite physically grasp (again intensified by a Saturn aspect or shared sign – all of these sign placements are). Make something physical from something mental or spiritual. J. K. Rowling has her Part of Fortune in Taurus and wrote Harry Potter from an idea, a want to do something, and in doing so has achieved stability and happiness.
GEMINI – To reach your Part of Fortune, you must follow your passions; allow life to surprise you and learn infinitely from it. You must be flexible and moveable – break through the barriers you have built into your mind, nurture self-belief. Jared Leto has Gemini Part of Fortune, and he follows his multiple passions with decisiveness. He might be an asshole, but he’s a happy one. He’s finding satisfaction in throwing himself entirely into acting, or singing, despite society’s judgements and likely his own misgivings.
CANCER – To reach your Part of Fortune, you have to nurture and raise something new which was never there before. Sometimes it’s a child, other times it’s an idea, a business, a concept. Make this thing successful and happy and your own success and happiness will follow. Martin Luther King had Cancer Part of Fortune, and he helped raise the civil rights movement and found satisfaction in its creation and the eventual results his nurturing resulted in.
LEO – Your Part of Fortune lies in inspiring others in the house placement you have. You must focus your energies in a direction, and then lead the way down it. Others will see your enthusiasm and follow and be inspired, and your satisfaction will come then when you are central to something. Steve Jobs has a Leo Part of Fortune, and he is well regarded as a trailblazer in technology, and whether you like Apple or not, he was central to the smartphone revolution and the pioneering of new concepts, ideas and designs and found satisfaction in what he revolutionised, in the direction he chose to channel his energies.
VIRGO – To reach your Part of Fortune, you must nurture efficiency, order and logic. You will be happiest in a system where you understand everything, where everything has its place. You must fight against letting baggage pile up that will weigh you down, or throw a wrench in the works. Mother Teresa had a Virgo Part of Fortune, and found her satisfaction in founding her works in India, establishing her own system which helped others and kept her life in order.
LIBRA -  To reach your Part of Fortune, you have to learn how to keep balance and be graceful and diplomatic. You are happiest when you have established a place of equilibrium in a many-faceted world. You want to be in a place where you belong and you will be satisfied with people you know well, who know you well, and understand you. You won’t mind standing out, as long as you stand out with a few other people. Harrison Ford has a Libra Part of Fortune, and finds his happiness in his movies which establish fan-bases and possess certain ‘vibes’ which are shared by those that take part in them.
SCORPIO – To reach your Part of Fortune, you must cultivate a life without bluster and nonsense. You find happiness when you find the core of something, when you solve mysteries and discover the internal depth of something. You are happiest in a position where you can locate the source of something, and will be most satisfied in a place you understand innately. Mozart has this placement, and found happiness surrounded by his music, which he understood deeply. His work are pinnacles of their kind, because he cut through the bluster that dominated music previously and cut it to its core.
SAGITTARIUS – To reach your Part of Fortune, you have to take risks, knowing that no matter the consequences you will learn from the experience. You’ll find a lot of happiness in adventure and discovering other cultures. You might find a lot of satisfaction in philosophy and exploring not only physically, but with your mind. Rene Descartes has this placement, and he is regarded as the “Father of Modern Philosophy”, finding satisfaction in exploring areas that hadn’t been explored quite so in-depth mentally before.
CAPRICORN – To reach your Part of Fortune, you must learn of practicality, perseverance and responsibility. You’ll find a lot of happiness in persevering to an end goal, and taking care of it in such a way that it will continue after your death – you will be most satisfied in the knowledge you are leaving a legacy behind you. Astrotheme.com says Jesus Christ had his Part of Fortune in Capricorn, and a major world religion is a perfect example of the leaving a legacy after your death which the Capricorn Part of Fortune so craves.
AQUARIUS – To reach your Part of Fortune, you have to cultivate originality and uniqueness. Follow that which is unconventional and you will find happiness in it. You will be happiest in altruistic activities, and possibly in the concept of martyrdom. You will be most satisfied with feeling different and standing out as an individual. Lady Gaga has an Aquarius Part of Fortune and she is best known not only for her unconventional traits, but also for her altruistic work for the LGBT community.
PISCES – To reach your Part of Fortune, you must nurture your spirituality and faith. You’ll find a lot of happiness in experiencing life from many different perspectives, sort of like a human anthology. You will be most satisfied by a quest for some form of self-enlightenment, or finding something integral to yourself and embracing it. Bob Marley had his Part of Fortune in Pisces, and found happiness in his music and the effects it had on people’s emotions and sharing all the deep emotions and different areas of life he saw through his integral ability in music.

Archetypes Decoded
Tumblr media
I’ll be starting a new series in which I attack some aspects of the archetypes. Disclaimer: I’m not here to claim that archetypes are completely untrue. In fact, I think it’s the opposite; the archetypes make up the backbone of modern day astrology. However, there are some things in my opinion, about the archetypes, that have been so simplified that they have lost their original meaning. So with that said for the next couple of days I’ll be posting some of my own corrections to the traditional archetypes of the zodiac sign.

It bothers me when people are like “Oh astrology is fake. I don’t even act like a Aries sun!” or “I don’t see how I can be a Leo rising. I don’t have any Leo traits. It must be fake!” when literally they are only in their teens or 20s.
They haven’t remotely figured out yet who they even are or how they see themselves or how they fit into this world. They’ve only lived about a quarter of their life. How could they already perfectly know who they are and deny astrology based on that?

Note
Is Sagittarius Mars blunt in a critical way like Virgo Mars, or more openly aggressively blunt like Aries Mars?
Probably more like a Virgo Mars, but in a way that feels a little more patronizing or high-minded? Sagittarius, despite being a Fire sign, also has a lot of airy energy to it, so they can take the pride of the fire signs and the logic/objectivity of the air signs and combine it into a style of communication that can feel very “preachy.”

Sun & Venus in Sagittarius:                                     Miss Independent
So I was talking to a friend of mine about my love life and as I was describing my views on love, I realized I was completely describing a typical Sagittarius Venus. So I’m going to share my convo with you guys and for the people who want more info on this placement I think this is a cool/nontraditional way to explain it.
Okay my experience with guys is that they have wanted a high level of dependency. They want the woman to be very dependent upon the man. I’m talking 1950′s he pays for everything, she’s obedient but less extreme version and it comes out in a very passive aggressive way. But for me that’s such a huge problem because it goes against who I am. And I want to make it clear, its not a cultural thing what so ever... Wait I take that back. I know culture touches everything that we do, but it’s not like “I’m an independent black woman who don’t need no man”. It’s more so I’m independent because that is who I am. It’s what makes me, me. It’s how I identify myself. It’s who I am as a person. I am INDEPENDENT. So when guys want me to be more dependent upon them, it’s not my pride/culture that holds me back.
*Friend gives side eye*
Okay maybe my pride does a little bit, but it goes deeper than that. I have to go against who I am as a person to depend upon you. And to me the idea of changing myself, changing who I am as a person, to be with somebody sounds ludicrous. Just saying that out loud is such a major red flag for me. Like if I have to do that, then that person shouldn’t be for me.
But....... at the same time there’s this whole idea of individual vs group. You can’t be unique/who you are and blend in with others in a group. You have to choose one and I realize that being in a relationship is the same thing as the individual vs group. Cuz in a relationship two people are one (aka a group). So I realized that I have to eventually change who I am to be apart of a real relationship with a person. Unfortunately, I found that comes two problems:
#1. I can’t immediately change who I am just like that. I can’t change my personality or who I am to my core in a day, or a week or a month. No! That’s going to take years and YeArS and YEARS, of me putting effort forth to try to change my fundamentals.
#2. I’m not going to do that for just anyone. I’m not going through hell fire and back, changing something that I honestly don’t want to change about myself, to be with any ole person. Like I’m not going to do that with every single joe smoe that comes my way. NO! If I going to change who I am for you, you best be worth it. Like you best be fucking amazing and everything I ever wanted. If I going to give up such a huge part of me. Like you best be worth your weight in fucking gold. On top of that,  I’m also going to have to know them for a very long time (because I need to have a lot of trust in them) and I need to have a lot of love for them. These two things don’t come automatically. Because the love I’m talking about isn’t just oh first sight love, or sexual lust love. Like no I’m talking about the love I have for my best friend. That’s the kind of love I want for my partner. whoever they may be male, female, neither, or both. It has to be more than romantic love. It has to be unselfish, unconditional, all encompassing love under neath all that romantic love. I barely have that for my parents/siblings after knowing them for over 18+ years, so its going to take a long time for me to form that for anyone.
Friend: Wow.... I always knew you a cold hearted bitch but I didn’t know it went below freezing.
Um.... I came here for a good time and honestly I feel so attacked right now. Like Can I LIVE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! HOE!!!!
*Insert laughs*
Anyways *hair toss* So I can have lots of lovers, go thru them and never define it, but I’m actually a serious dater. It sounds like an oxymoron. But I won’t commit to just anyone. I can’t stop being an individual until I know your worthy and I won’t know that for years. That’s why I’m also low key scared of dating and searching for love because I don’t want to find that person yet and be forced to change. I’m not ready for transformation yet. So I kind of push away love because it so serious. Plus, I honestly think its a misconception that because I can go through all these people that I’m this player, not looking for true love and/or I’m just looking for fun. Because at the end of the day I just trying to figure out who is worthy of my affection.
So does that make sense?
Friend: SOoOoOoOo......... you highkey have commitment issues/ dumb high standards and lowkey have a fucked up definition of love in which you equate it with pain (of changing yourself)?
Oh my god *tears forming in eyes* You know me so well

You said the 12th house is a karmic house - what does that mean and are there other karmic houses?
The 8th house is also said to be karmic. The 4th house holds ancestral karma. Saturn, mars, and Pluto are said to be karmic.

Air Moons & Emotion ♊️♎️♒️🌕
From a young age, air moons are taught their emotions are worthless. Whether it be by firsthand experience or people coming right out and saying it, air moons constantly have their feelings invalidated. This happens several times in youth so eventually when they grow up, they can no longer express their emotions in a healthy way.
*“air moons” will be abbreviated to AM’s
Examples of behavior in childhood:
-people laugh at AM’s frustration
-AM’s ridiculed for expressing their identity through clothes, hair, personality, etc
-AM’s given harsh criticisms
-AM’s called overdramatic or told they are overreacting when they were not
-AM’s manipulated into thinking they do not have a right to be upset
-AM’s humiliated for having feelings whether it be having a crush, or being excited about their hobbies, etc
-AM’s laughed at for being logical
-AM’s called cold or heartless
-AM’s yelled at for disagreeing with other’s opinions
-AM’s told what to think and how to act
-AM’s secrets shared without their permission
-AM’s punished or blamed for what someone else has done
-AM’s berated for not having proper manner’s
-AM’s told they are selfish
-AM’s forgotten or left out
The above behaviors destroy Air moon’s ability to process their feelings. Air moon’s grow up thinking their emotions do not serve them any purpose, and so they try to cast them away. They learn that emotions only cause them humiliation from others, make them seem weak, and cloud their judgement. The sad part is when they grow up, people will then make fun of Air moon’s for ‘not having feelings’ even though they are the reason for the repression in the first place. People get used to Air moon’s having little emotional outbursts and so when an Air moon does become upset, people’s first reaction is to say ‘this isn’t like you, it’s not that big a deal, stop overreacting.’ But this is detrimental to Air moon’s conscious. After such an incident, the Air moon will try even harder to hide and destroy every emotion they have. They will try to never let you see that side of them again. Holding in such feelings is exhausting and harmful to the Air moon. They must learn how do undo the damage done in early childhood. They must stop overanalyzing their thoughts and actions. They must learn to stop saying ‘I do not have a right to feel this way and so I will make myself no longer feel this way’ and start accepting their feelings for what they are. It is ok to be angry, to be upset, to be confused. Air moons must learn that emotions do not make one weak.

Saturn
Saturn, the Great Malefic of traditional astrology. Saturn, the Great Teacher of modern astrology. Saturn is universally known as restrictive, but what is the effect of its restriction?
Consider the natal chart- a reflective blueprint of each individual as told by the cosmos. We read and understand the natal chart through themes, symbols, and archetypes. The compilation is a beautiful, dynamic human being fit for existence in a chaotic world.
Progressions and transits further mount dynamic changes.
Saturn is a single part of the sum. That sum is the individual. The Saturnian archetype derives from Greek god Kronos/Cronus (relating to time). The short summary of his story is simple. In fear of being overthrown, he ate all of his infant children. Kronos had defeated his own father, and it was prophesied that one of his own sons would succeed in doing the same to him. His son, Zeus, was born in secrecy. He defeated his father and saved his brothers/sisters. This cyclic prophecy signals karma, and relates to the Capricorn push for power, prestige, and greatness.
A less eclectic interpretation of this mythology is a story of self-sabotage. Through fear, Cronus limited his children. The symbolism of children, in dreams for example, is extensions of the self. Consider Cronus as internalizing extensions of himself through the fear of losing power. It is this internalization that allowed him to be overcome by a child (part of himself) that was acknowledged, raised, and controlled. Zeus in his over-abundance is, in many ways, the anti-Saturn.
Though tragic and difficult to overcome, we are all faced with self-imposed self-defeat. These are not positive qualities, and do not protect us in the way we imagine.
Saturn in the natal chart/ Saturn in transit illuminates our greatest fears of failure, our self-imposed limitations, and what we repress in ourselves. Saturns illumination, particularly in transits, may bring awareness of how and where we have held back our potential to succeed, and all we have kept hidden and quivering within ourselves.
The result is rebuilding, expressing, and shaping our repressed selves in order to grow and achieve what we want and need.
Saturn is both the Great Teacher and the Great Malefic in that some of our greatest lessons are the hardest to hear, confront, and overcome. Remember that Saturn resides within yourself, and even if you have been influenced or triggered by the external environment, you are ultimately who restricted yourself, even if it was out of defense. This is not to say a victim is any less of a victim, but rather that rebuilding starts from within.

Typical Traits of Mars in the Signs
What makes us tick? What gets us all fired up? What makes us angry, and how do we express that anger? What do we really desire, and how do we go about getting it? The sign position of Mars reveals much about our basic animal nature—our aggressive instincts, our sexuality, and our drive.
ARIES:
aggressive, impulsive, but  don’t live in the past, and are not given to holding grudges or feeling resentful
listen to their instincts, make fast decisions
irritated by indirectness
TAURUS:
generally calm and easygoing people, but powerful tempers when they’re overly provoked
value strength and stability, they are driven by security and an especial fondness for personal possessions
slow to arousal, but theirs is an earthy and powerful sensuality
GEMINI:
scattered and unfocused, easily bored
angry words—some of the most incisive and sarcastic ones— can fly around with the more energetic natives,  draw on their sharp wit to win arguments
often express energy through musical instruments and the like—even video games
CANCER:
the most passive-aggressive position, seem to resist change and to shy away from direct confrontations
at their best, they turn others on with a protective, almost therapeutic way about them
have defensive reactions and bursts of emotional agitation when feeling offended
LEO:
vital position, passions run high, and so does desire
enjoy the pleasures of risk-taking
act with authority and power, and their personal magnetism generally endows them with the ability to get what they want
VIRGO:
have a knack for handling a wide variety of tasks at once, and a tendency to take on perhaps too much at the same time, which makes them doubt their abilities. it’s hard for them to deal with it and they might turn into complaining, over-critical nags
earthy and sometimes nervous sexuality, shy but open to experimentation
perfectionists at the heart, though they will be the first to deny it
LIBRA:
overly indecisive, they feel the need to weigh all of the alternatives before taking action
they always play innocent when they are challenged, and can generally charm the birds out of the trees to win your favour
never mean but aggression has to go somewhere, so this often results sneaky behaviour and subterfuge
SCORPIO:
challenge themselves to do the impossible keeping their cool and their equilibrium on the surface
attracted to taboos and feel a certain kind of pleasure resisting their fantasies. also a black-or-white philosophy of life
their sexual appeal is strong enough that they generally do get what they want
SAGITTARIUS:
when they get angry, they feel like running not knowing how to deal with their aggression, this is where their restless and adventurous nature comes in
playful and fun-loving, they love friendly debates, although they can go to extremes, very passionate about what they believe in
need to feel like they have space, they’re the ones who will run away when things get too serious or dull
CAPRICORN:
a little hard on themselves, and sometimes others, though their self-control is strong when it comes to expressing anger, drive, energy, and sexuality
detests waste of any kind, which makes them hard to let go of things
self-indulgent by nature, disciplined, realistic, possesses the ability to plan for the future —something that many other signs have difficulties doing
AQUARIUS:
a rather original view of the world, the tried-and-true methods of getting things done are far too boring
proud of their willpower and independence they are quite difficult to settle down
their madness isn’t easy to discover. Creative about getting what they want, you won’t always know you’re being dominated
PISCES:
an unusually passive placement, they don’t appear like they are capable of harming a fly
need a creative outlet that allowing them to express their desires of the moment, their compassion —and even their anger —freely and imaginatively
prone to feelings of guilt about their anger, and difficulties with asserting themselves

Introduction
Hi Everyone!
I have been on Tumblr for quite some time now but this is the first time I have made a blog solely devoted to astrology. Heads up, I’m not a professional astrologer however I do know a few things here and there. I intend to have my blog be a mixture of serious and playful astro knowledge. I’m mainly here to learn however I will add my two cents occasionally to spice things up.
