I swear it's the ONLY animal product who's industry doesn't require any kind of slaughter. I mean yes the male bees die every year but that's because the female bees kick them out, and that would happen whether they were in the wild or in captivity regardless of humans.
Dairy requires males to be slaughtered.. it would never be sustainable to have dairy otherwise, your herd would grow at an unsustainable rate. Meat obviously requires slaughter. Wool doesn't require slaughter in theory, but unfortunately in our modern economy it's not possible to profit without slaughter. Eggs require males to be slaughtered, again it would not be sustainable or even ethical to have equal numbers of roosters and hens, your hens would be abused and the roosters would fight. Bees.. bees do their own shit.
vegans making honey a bee labour issue is the funniest thing imaginable because like, you picked the one animal that has already unionised

my horse is sick and extremely underweight and I don’t have time to explain why, BUT
I’m pissed at my ex-instructor, she helped haul him back from the hospital (I paid her generously) and she made a comment about how underweight he was, how terrible he looked, and how she’d “take him back” if I couldn’t handle him anymore, and it hit a nerve. I was nice to her but I couldn’t help but think about all the horses she neglected, the ones that lost more weight than Xander and for no good reason. Xander lost weight because of illness. Her horses lost weight because of neglect. Xander was skinny IN HER CARE before she gave him to me.
she said “he’s so weak Jennifer, I can’t believe it” yes hes weak because hes fucking anemic. “They said he’s a body condition of 2″ yes because he’s a thoroughbred, lost weight in winter, then got sick and went off feed for weeks. “if you can’t handle him anymore..” IM THE ONE WHO PUT WEIGHT ON HIM AFTER YOUR NEGLECT. I can put weight on a horse. He didn’t get like this because I neglected him. He gets free choice hay at night, grass during the day, senior grain multiple times a day, proper nutrition, he’s blanketed appropriately, he has really good shelter at night, he has routine fecals and low FEC. His life is incredibly low stress and he’s usually a really happy and healthy horse. I’m in contact with the vets at OSU and making changes to his care as appropriate. He’s going to be put on an aggressive anemia/weight gain program. His appetite finally returned and he is already improving!!
I watched so many thoroughbreds she didn’t want anymore wither away to skin and bones in the rain without shelter or grain, just 4 flakes of hay a day, while she saved up money to have them euthanized. And she wants to tell me that she’ll take Xander off my hands? No fucking way. I wouldn’t trust any horse in her care.
I know some people might think this is a dumb reaction since it sounds like she has good intentions, but she’s just a condescending asshole. She always treated me like shit and undervalued me. She is honestly one of the most selfish and manipulative individuals I’ve ever met, I don’t say that lightly. She just genuinely thinks I’m incompetent and what really pisses me off is knowing that she’s going to go back and tell everyone that I’m neglecting my horses and I don’t know what I’m doing. And people are going to listen to her and my reputation is going to be tarnished.
Thankfully I’m more interested in the goat world than the horse world, so it’s not like she’s ruining my career. But it pisses me off. I take pride in my ability to care for these horses.

A few previous designs without a tail, except the quadrupeds. Not sure to give them one yet, their balance doesn’t depend on it.
Don’t want to waste those pretty colors. (;﹏;)

Map of Native American etymologies for “horse”. There were no horses in the Americas before the colonists arrived. Native Americans quickly developed new words for this strange animal, often associating them with dogs, their one other domestic animal before contact with Europe.

My only hobby is staring at the faces on the pictures for equine sport disciplines on Wikipedia
Most of these people look like they just now realized that they are sitting on a horse barreling towards some obstacle at top speed

I'm lucky enough to have never met one of those people. Instead I see people sprinting after their horse in a round pen trying to make it "submit" 🙄 then they tell me that I am such a good alpha to my horse, and I'm like..
Yeah... he's super relaxed and cooperative... because I don't fucking chase him with a whip 🤦🏼♀️
People can be so dumb sometimes
Pro tip for getting along with ppl that believe in "alphas" or "dominance"
The words "assertive", "pushy", "sociable", "persistent", "possessive", "shy", "confident", etc are very helpful in conversations. Use them as appropriate.
Basically, you can use words that fit the specific situation, rather than using their vague terminology. Examples:
"that horse is so dominant!"
Me: "he's definitely very pushy"
"so who's the alpha of your herd?"
Me: "Well, Max can be quite assertive, but they all follow Chloe everywhere"
"wow, your horse is so submissive!"
Me: "he can be a bit of a doormat, but he's still pretty possessive of both our mares"
These words allow you to fit a lot more nuance and precision, and usually these "dominance" people will still understand you. Some will even take the cue and start using these words themselves, since they're ultimately a lot more useful than the terminology they're used to.
