When I heard costume, I instantly thought of the many, many costumes from my years of competitive dance. Here are a few that I could find!

I think that the future is unknown for certain and only time can tell exactly where I am headed.

Something that illustrates lighting: I️ went to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art this weekend in Kansas City and I️ really liked how the light was illustrated in this painting. The source of light is clear and I️ like how everything in the picture is clearly affected by the light, whether fully lit up or completely cast into shadow.

Something Painted: This weekend, my theology class went to the Norton Simon Museum, and this was one of my favorite pieces. I️ like the detail that is painted in each little picture and the gold painted background that seems to make the whole thing shine. I️ also like the way it so truthfully tells the whole story of Jesus just through painted pictures. Our museum guide told us about the difference that lighting has on this painting. She said that viewing it in a dark room with only candlelight would be even more impressive then how it appeared in the light. There are gilded metal borders surrounding the pictures, but each little image itself is painted.

Andy Warhol 1928-1987
Originally an advertisement illustrator, Campbell’s Soup Cans painting was his first big hit in 1962. He was one of the founders of pop art. He satirized and celebrated fame, wealth, and materialism. Also created a stream of death and disaster paintings. Created multitudes of paintings of celebrities and commercial products. He had a fascination with L.A., Hollywood, and celebrities.
Created all types of art: painting, sculpture, photography, performance art, silkscreening, filmmaking, and writing. One of the most well known artists in the world by the time he died. Some of his paintings sold for over $100 million, including Silver Car Crash and Eight Elvises.

My first thought upon hearing “a picture that illustrates lighting on a stage” was of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I saw them a few years ago and they present an incredible light show along with their Christmas rock performance. They use countless different colors and beams of light in their entertaining spectacle.

I chose this picture to illustrate color and texture. I like the way that the puppy’s tousled fur contrasts with the smooth marble. I also like the varying shades of gold that are present just in the dog’s fur alone. You can see a few spots in the marble that appear to be similar in color to the dog. Additionally, I like the look of the ridged texture on the top of the dog’s mouth.

I chose this picture of something hidden. I like how the owl blends so perfectly into the tree, his texture and colors matching perfectly. I think that it is very cool how perfectly some animals are made to camouflage to their surroundings.

I chose two photos for my photo of choice: 1, because I couldn't decide, and 2, because I feel that they complement each other nicely. Both of these pictures were from just last weekend when I went apple picking in Kansas City. I like the wide frame with which they were both taken and I like the light and shadows on the trees and grass in the background. I like the different layers of the first picture and I like the way you can really see the depth of the line of apples in the second one.

I love the interior of this used book and record store in Kansas City. I really like the different lights and the way they reflect on the polished floor. I also like the haphazard fashion of all the books and records.

For my picture from above, I chose this picture of Fort Lauderdale that I took from a plane this summer. I chose this one because I like all the different shapes that the land makes and the contrast of colors between the grass, the water, and the houses.

I like this picture because I think it clearly demonstrates a unique perspective and has a very distinct vanishing point.

I like this picture of a piece at The Broad titled "Under the Table" because it so clearly scales humans down to such a small size in comparison to the table and chairs.

I like this image because though the initial focus of the picture is the lantern, when examined more closely, the framed quote appears more clearly as well as the twisting shadows behind the monogram.
