Just a penny for your thoughts on that Caitlyn/Lexa art. Since Caitlyn and Lexa are both skilled with weapons, what if they were to duel or spar?

May I ask you how long you take to finish These fantastic pieces you keep providing us? Let’s say from start to finish and not including reference gathering.

Absolutely! Tbh it varies

A 'normal' two-person lineart (no colours no shading) usually takes me around 2-3h but that (and especially the rest) fully depends on the complexity of the subject (how many hands/faces/clothes) and how clearly I already have the painting in my head meaning how much trial and error I go through to get to the finished composition/lighting/colours

Generally its something between 6-8h for a rendered painting but then there's outliers of course :)

If you're interested in the full breakdown:

^ We have the quicky at 2.45h No hands, barely any face or other complex details - single multiply layer for shading Not lot of trial and error either - I already had everything in my head and the colour scheme from the other fencing paintings

^ Roughly 4-6h Not a lot of complexity in terms of hands or faces - one layer of shading and some highlights - most of the contrast is achieved through quick bold lines

^ Fully rendered pieces almost precisely 8:40-45h Two rendered faces, some defined hands and detailing on the clothes - usually fairly complex lighting and a specific vibe im trying to nail

^ Aaand then there is this absolute bastard of a thing at 18-fucking-h So many hands way too many faces

For the record though at least 14h were spent frustratedly moving the sketches across 4 panels and figuring out the composition and frames (there are so many different iterations of this series) and then of course later on endlessly adjusting expressions and lighting Its probably because im trying to combine fully rendered painting with a comic format and that's just... insane :))

Phew I haven’t drawn lexa in so long… maybe I should give it a go again

My problem is always that I barely have the time to draw the things that I desperately want/need to draw so the list grows ever longer

Summers suck bc I’m a teacher and don’t get regular paychecks but HOOOOO BOY I have a whole big ass cart just sitting on inprint waiting for my regular checks to start dropping again next month lol. Love your art so much! Please never stop.
