I’ve got a fat headache rn so here’s a list of my headcannons on how a variety of yhs characters would deal with one

Sam: Lies down on the spot and cries and whines until someone gets him some medicine

Taurtis: Uses it as an excuse to get out of things he doesn’t want to do and then insists on being tucked in to sleep it off

Grian: Toughens it out until it either disappears or he caves in and takes some medicine, hes complaining the entire time though don’t be mistaken

Dom: Pre-Samantha arc he’s beating Sam up over it/Post Samantha arc he’s eating the first random pill he finds and hoping for the best (or he’s toughening it out because he can’t afford medicine) (or he’s stealing it from crabman Carl’s lmao either works)

JTheStar: Invents a pill that gets rid of all headaches instantly and then sells it to the masses

JTS: Headache? What Headache? He flexed that off.

Yuki: Falls dramatically onto her bed and rings a bell until one of the yakuza members (or Sam?) get her some pain killers

Chan: Pops an Advil and continues with the rest of her day

Igbar: Tells Cthulhu to stop messing with his head

Hidden: Asks JTS how he got there and how his trip to Denmark was

Gareth: Takes 12 Advil and hopes for the best

Starforce: Depends? Might not notice it if he’s focused on something otherwise he’s got a very neatly assembled medicine cabinet suited for his exact needs

I’m running out of clever things to say I think a lot of them would just be normal people and take some painkillers maybe I should care about the background characters more 😭 add on your own hcs

Omg I forgot to post this here but here’s a Salex design I whipped up

I tried to make her very 2010s lol it’s not my favouriiite Salex design I’ve made usually I do a bit more with her clothes but it was just a quick thing I wanted to whip up!! I started drawing her ‘eyeless’ a bit ago because ooo mystery she dies or idk I had a better thought behind it, and I added those deer antlers headband because I like the deer imagery with her but I didn’t want to draw her as like, part deer lol so just a headband

I’ve drawn Salex a couple times with long straight hair but this one has more volume/textured, what do you guys prefer?? I think there’s variations of both on here,, or atleast on my twt

There seemed to be a couple moments where it seems like Batmanuel might be a little into Arthur, but probably thinks Arthur is the ‘one person’ who doesn’t want him. Who knows (but I’d totally read any fanfiction you have of Batmanuel)

I’ve seen a lot of people drawing Sam with natural white hair he dyes brown to explain the white fur/brown hair and I think that’s pretty cool! Buuttt I’d like to put a little subversion on that and say he is a natural brunette, but the gladiator men just grey (white?) prematurely

YHS Characterisation..headcannon??… Yuki is an internalised misogynist, not a girls girl, ‘pick me’ to me

Like she would have girl friends and I looove drawing her bisexual and with women, and I still think she could be! but I think the closest she would get to actually kissing a girl would be at a party and in front of a bunch of guys in the stereotypical 2000s tv show oh lesbians are so hot type of way. Maybe she would realise eventually she was kissing girls because she likes kissing girls and stop acting the way she does but she’s dead now so

Like she’d have laser hair removal or something because her dad’s the yakuza leader and can afford whatever she wants and then she’d go up to other girls who don’t shave or maybe do but don’t everyday and be like ‘hey can I ask you a question… I don’t mean to be rude but can you not afford a razor…?’ And start giggling.

She’s a dick basically

If YHS was like, real, I think she’d start hanging out with Sam and the Gang because ‘girls are sooo much drama’ but still very much encourage the Taurtis 2 arc and then probably start saying Grian’s being ‘such a girl’ for acting the way he did

I haven’t watched YHS in a while so maybe I’m wrong and Yuki’s actually a feminist icon but that’s my YHS speaking point topic of the day idk give your own opinion

This is a rant about mischaracterisation in the yhs fandom, its probably a bit long bc i have a lot of thoughts on it lol, i dont fully expect anyone to care about this as much as I do, but whatever.....

the YHS fandom is the worst when it comes to characterisation of characters

It's a nightmare here like actually. I'm not trying to be the "character police" or to tell you what to do bc in the end I can't, but oh my god am I going to complain about this, bc it's so bad here.

The mischaracterisation of characters ESPECIALLY the main cast for yandere highschool (and I guess in turn Tokyo Soul) is INSANE, what are some of you guys ON??

Being a Sam fan here is like having to walk through a field filled with landmines that explode to either people assuming you like cc!sam (which trust me most ppl dont) or you idolise an "abuser"

I've only come across a few people who don't think like this but it's like maybe 2-4 people out of an entire fandom, and only 2 of them i actively interact with.

The best example I have is the AO3 space (though tumblr is kinda the same just nearly not as bad) when it comes to the fandom and what they write, I have a personal beef with 90% of writers on there

Why's the yhs/sam tag almost exclusively ONLY grian/hermitcraft stuff

Whys is it always the same story of Grian having a meltdown in Hermitcraft over the apparent abuse Sam did, Why is he always being abused????

Or some sort of story where Sam physically abuses Grian in ways that are so insane.

Why is Sam always portrayed as a monster abuser who does everything to make everyone's life a living hell??? Like.. what yhs did you watch to get that idea??? Where's this coming from and why is it so normalised?

Why cant there be a normal story on there where they are friends getting up to silly things or something.

Sam is cannonly the most pathetic loser there is he gets bad at points i do agree but also.. so does everyone else, that's not exclusive to Sam's character. No one in that series is right not Grian not Sam not anyone. They are all assholes in their own way.

Sam stabbing taurtis in the Halloween special was a case of "i am being forced to be with someone (yuki) who will kill me if I dont do as she says and she gets upset over things easily" ontop of that not to mention like, sam is KNOWN to do whatever people around him tell him to do, he doesn't think for himself almost ever and heavily relies on people around him telling what to do or how to act. Even if Yuki didn't straight up tell Sam "hey stab taurtis" Sam was and still is someone who takes people's way of acting around him and does the same or similar things.

Taurtis is a person who a lot of the time encourages this behaviour in Sam, not always but a lot of the time, and being Sam's best friend Sam of course listens to him and doesn't stop to think that maybe Taurtis is in the wrong, bc to sam taurtis is his entire world almost, Why would he second guess him.

I'm so tired of Grian being the main focus to everyone, Sam being portrayed as an abuser and Taurtis being portrayed as an idiot who knows nothing at all.

And it's wild to me how many people actually think like this, I get finding YHS bc of the taurtis 2 arc I found it that way and i think most people who got into the series after it was finished was bc of that arc, but it's like people just took that as being what the whole series and characters were like.

This fandom has soured my view on Grian's character as a whole, Grian is not a victim, He's not a little abused boy who's scared to leave his home thinking Bad Sam is going to hurt him, It's just not true cannonly, you can have your headcanons but it gets tiring seeing the same story of Grian being a victim and Sam being an abuser over and over again.

And all I'm saying is if you want abused grian so badly- kov!grian is right there, he has valid reasons to be the way he is.

My conclusion: I beg of you, watch the whole series instead of JUST the taurtis2 arc before doing deep characterising of the characters or headcannons.. Or dont, again I cant control you lol.
