OC (one of the new ones, only a couple of weeks old)

For several months I’d had the urge to create a total bastard character, I gathered all possible material to make a real jerk, an abuser, a manipulator, and just an absolute asshole, but of course beautiful and charming, so that I myself could love him

In my worlds with very gray morality and extremely ambiguous good and bad characters, having such a clear tilt is a rarity. That’s why I was so curious to see if I could manage at least something. And a couple of weeks ago, while engraving under the spell of Earthsea, I realized I’d found the kind of interaction through which I wanted to bring this character in. Something as simple and old as the world itself: take a more or less classic protagonist and give him an antagonist, undeniably bound to him, undeniably special for him. Make the hero search for him, make his destruction the central goal, and somewhere along the way let him meet the antagonist in human guise, and fail to recognize him. Make him a companion and best friend, add a romantic line (obvious or not) so that in the end both are faced with the terrible fact of resolution through the death of one of them. Naturally, my antagonist must understand everything that’s happening. Naturally, his goal becomes to win over the main character, to detach him from the rest of the world and focus him entirely on himself. His task is to survive and to force the plot to end in his favor. Isn’t that the perfect role for the bastard I’ve been so carefully putting together?

I’m not a writer, but I love entertaining myself by inventing plots, creating worlds, and fleshing out characters down to the smallest details. I love angst, hopelessness, and that note of bleak realism - even if the world I create is pure fantasy. I want to write a story built on the dynamic between two characters, kill one of them off at the end and cry about it, then resurrect them and write another eight seasons of their life afterwards. I want to dream up cozy AUs with them and never make any of it canon

I haven’t had the strength to share my previous stories here.. especially not in English… but this one is fresh and doesn’t yet have a decade-old tower of lore behind it. So I think I can try writing whatever comes to my mind, if this story does end up continuing

/and yeah, about the truly evil character - I lost that battle, and pretty quickly at that. I’ve already toned down his level of craziness, and even managed to explain it within the plot

I’m finished. This is my last etching made in the Academy’s workshop, and with its completion I’m finally going on a small vacation

These past weeks I spent in the workshop printing editions and finishing this piece. I’m glad to be taking a rest, but it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to a place where I’ve spent so many years. I’m sure this isn’t the end of my path as a printmaker, I’ll keep working with what I love, and despite all the difficulties of the process, I believe I’ll be able to find both the right conditions and the resources to continue

And now, with my diploma as an easel printmaker, about as useful as a very expensive bouquet, except I smell of white spirit, I’ll also be looking for a job. I do etching, shoot film photography, and knit hats… God, when it comes to job hunting I feel like a person with a very strong aura

and I also had to think a lot about how to draw the hut as an ascetic male den, but one you could really live in for ten years. like, say, a mat on the floor,, but I don’t think Fitz would have put one there, since, well, he didn’t always bother even to make sure the meat wasn’t raw. but on the other hand could it really be that after ten years he wouldn’t even have a rug? So I decided that if a child, a donkey, and chickens managed to survive with him, there must have been at least some minimal comforts

I didn’t go back to reread the exact descriptions of the hut and just trusted my memory: a one-storey studio with a pantry and a study, and somewhere in the middle a stove

Hi hi, I live in Russia, so there are some issues with that. I just can’t figure out how to get paid for commissions or prints yet, but I promise I’ll sort it out

For now, I haven’t shipped anything outside the CIS, and honestly, I’m afraid to imagine how much of a hassle it could be

But I promise this will change within the next year! (Especially commissions, I’d be happy to take them)

sure, maybe I’m not churning out tons of drawings non-stop right now, but that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped thinking about rote every day. Random scenes, relationships, and descriptions are always with me, they’re just usually too scattered or small to develop into full arts

and then recently I bought myself a new watercolor in a dirty shade, and somehow that led me here

I think in a few more months I’ll end up with a whole collection of Beloved’s watercolor portraits in every age and version

/well next will probably be Fitz / sorry, dear, you’re just harder to draw in a way that I’m satisfied with.

🍺 hi guys hola amigos I turned 24 today 🍺

so as usual, here’s a collection of my art from the past year. It’s been a really eventful year:

I finally finished my university studies, a huge chapter that took a whole decade. Yep, now I officially have a six-year degree in easel graphics, as funny as that might sound.

I also got to do as much etching as I always dreamed of, and I’ve really improved my skills

I got hit with a hyperfixation like I haven’t had since I was 12, and it inspired me to explore a bunch of new things /and to draw a billion fansrts

And and I started this blog and began posting in english which is a big deal for me too

So yeah, it’s been a packed year. Love you all, and thanks so much for the feedback🖤

I don't always know what I'm drawing or why. I think this thing is closest to a visualization of some subconscious imagery of the oc — or maybe I was simply inspired by how hookahs resemble balusters, and therefore are visually appealing.
